May 12, 2011 dream cruise meet!!!

Does anybody know if there will be a champagne tasting offered on the ship? I've heard conflicting reports from different people.

I read a TR from someone that just got off the Dream on the 21st and they did the champagne tasting for $20 pp in Pink (I think that was the location).

Hi everyone! My husband and I booked this cruise a couple of months ago to celebrate our 1st anniversary (May 14), but I just got involved in reading the DIS again when we booked the 15 night HI cruise on the Wonder in 2012 for our second anniversary. Then suddenly it occured to me there would probably be a thread for this cruise, too! So here we are, late, but probably not last ;)

Don't let the low number of anniversaries fool you. We are an older couple and we both have grown children from previous marriages. Harry is retired and I hope to retire in a couple of years.

I know we are too late for the fish extenders, but we wanted to see if anyone would be interested in sharring a cabana with us at the adult beach? We decided to splurge for our anniversary. If anyone would like to share the cabana (and the cost) with us, that would be great. :beach:

We've never had a cabana before (or even seen one!) They are new since our last Disney cruise. But we understand they are pretty special. If anyone is interested, let us know.

Hello everyone!
I'm brand new to the disboards and I'm so excited to be going on my first Disney cruise! My husband, 3 year old daughter, and I are going with my in-laws and then we'll spend a week at WDW staying at the BLT. :cool1:

My husband and I went to WDW for our honeymoon in '03 and this will be our first trip back since then. I can't wait to share all the magic with our little girl!princess:

Welcome to the thread.

This will be our first cruise and we will have our 8 yo with us. Been working hard on getting things ready!

They must have changed the price since this was posted (she says it it $499!) as I reserved one at the adult beach for $399. That is good for up to 4 people, after that it is an additional $50/person. Maximum 10 people. Unlimited water, soda, fruit, and chips. Dedicated beverage service for alcohol. It looks like there are only two cabanas at Serenity Bay and we took the first one.

Welcome Oregon Disney Dreamer! We are almost neighbors, up here in WA. We just joined the thread today, too.

What is BLT? Harry and I have been trying to figure it out :confused3

There are two types of Cabanas, I think. $499 for ones on the Family beach, and $399 for the ones at Serenity Bay (adult only beach) [btw- it feels dirty typing adult only beach]:ssst:

Thanks for the info!

Hahahah:rotfl::rotfl:...adults only beach is not dirty! No nudity or anything...just no kids allowed.

Also, the rental includes floats and a one hour bicycle rental per person.

Hello neighbor!
BLT is the Bay Lake Tower. It's connected to the Contemporary. :)

Ok, thanks! We actually toured the model unit of the BLT a couple of trips ago. Looked very cool -- I definitely like modern, Harry not so much. In any case, we are invested in Worldmark, rather than DVC. We actually were able to trade into a DVC resort on our last trip and spent a week at Saratoga Springs after a week off-site at Orange Lake. Loved it!

My in-laws are DVC members and we're just along for the ride. ;)

Right now I'm trying to figure out packing for three days on the cruise and for the week after. Traveling with our toddler will be a new experience for us.

What is everyone most excited about with the cruise?

Most excited just to be on the new ship! Also very excited about Remy, we love those kind of once in a blue moon super fine dining experiences. Had Victoria and Albert's a few years ago--amazing.

We are also staying at BLT for a few days post cruise.

My aunt just sent me a picture of the FE that she made for us!!! I wish I could get the picture off my phone so I could post it. It's so cute. Hot pink and black with sparkly Mickeys! :lovestruc

Is anyone having as much trouble as I am trying to figure out what to pack without overpacking or over thinking it?

My FE stuff is going to take an entire bag by the time we get everything finished and packed. Not to mention the extra candy and things for signatures I have tossed in with them.

But so excited yet nervous at the same time.

Anyone else planning on what they are going to rebook while on board?

I'm totally waffling on what to pack. I figure I can't have too many clothes for my 3 year (plus they are tiny, so take up less space). For me, I'm afraid all my new clothes that fit nicely will be uncomfortably tight by the end of the cruise with all the awesome dining opportunities! :lmao:

I've heard there is sometimes an informal 5k around Castaway Cay. Does anyone know if they have been offering this for the Dream?

My in-laws mentioned possibly booking our next cruise while we are on this one. Alaska is a definite possibility! That would be amazing.

Planning on February 2012 Mexican Riviera on Wonder and December 2012 on Fantasy. We always rebook onboard for savings and stateroom credits! Plus it makes getting off the ship much easier knowing there's another one in the works. Otherwise, it's just too depressing to leave.:thumbsup2

Those both sound like awesome trips! Have you been on a lot of Disney cruises?

Been on 6 so far, five 7 night and one 14 night. May will be numbers 7 and 8, as we are doing a Back to Back, the May 8 and the May 12. So at the end of 2012 we will be Platinum Castaway!

We are most looking forward to FINALLY taking our first Disney cruise and having 1/2 of our family with us (our sons and their families). We are planning to re-book because we plan to take another Disney cruise next year with the other 1/2 of our family (our daughters and their families). We are so excited we are not just counting the days, but the hours too.

Yes! We are also very excited about the new ship. But with only three days, we decided to give Remy a pass this time. We'll try it on our next cruise on the big ships. We also did Victoria and Albert's a few years ago and agree -- it was amazing. For now, we want to try the three regular restaurants.

Can only wish we were at BLT after the cruise -- we are at an off-site timeshare for a week, instead. We'll take this opportunity to check out the Harry Potter stuff at IOA this trip. Of course we'll do 4 or 5 days at WDW, too.
