May 11th 2008 ~ Any Double Dippers Out There?

But what I really wanna know is...

...Brandi! Where are you, milady????????????????

Hope all is OK. We miss you... :goodvibes

I've been wondering the same thing myself!! I posted the pictures cause you wanted to see them Brandi - where are you??!! We miss you!!!!

Hi everyone! Hope you have all been doing well! Sorry I've been incommunicado. I've been in one seriously capital B kind of mood for the last few weeks, and am working on adjusting my attitude. Not sure if it's situational, hormonal or seasonal, but day-um, I am so not pleasant to be around (poor DH who is sort of a captive bystander :rolleyes1 ). Just yesterday I said to my brother, "You know, why in the world can't I act the way I think other people should?" :rotfl: Ah well, it's a woman's prerogative to have as many personalities as she has shoes. I'd say this is sort of an @#!-kicking, torturously pointed-toe stiletto month.

Yvonne, LOVE the photos! Now I really do want to try the RCL megaship! That photo of the Magic next to RCL made me laugh out loud. It's like those pictures you see of killer whales swimming with their newborns.

Karen - glad you're recovering :thumbsup2 . Life is too short for bad wine...partly b/c a wine hangover has to be among the worst and why waste a hangover on bad wine, lol. Bad wine or no (hopefully, no) I sure wish DH had more business functions like your DH. I never have a good reason to get spiffied up. What does your DH do, b/c I'll definitely have to rethink my career plans if there's a career out there that let's me host fun parties. :thumbsup2 My guy is Mr. Tech nerd, so quite often he spends his days in a cave surrounded by glowing screens or on a conference call arguing with other nerds at Intel and HP (they're a fiesty lot) :lmao: Whenever they do have company functions it amuses me to note that among the lot of them, only the Directors and salespeople have tans.

While I've got your ear Karen, I wanted to ask: is there a taste difference btwn Clotted Cream and Double Cream? I read the first is fattier (is that a word?) than the latter, but is richness the only taste diff? I'd tell you why I'm asking, but it's a long, boring story. Btw: let me know if all my ?'s get annoying. I'm just full of curiosity (and other things, but that's another conversation)

Did everyone see that on the Friday of our trip MK closes at 7 pm? Could it be?! Dare we say?! A Pirate & Princess Party?! :cheer2: pirate: I know we have to wait a few months for them to announce one way or the other, but I can tell you that when my TA made our ADR's, she was unable to book Plaza Restaurant for any time past 4:30 on that night, and it surely can't be b/c Plaza is in high demand. Definitely keeping my fingers and toes crossed like crazy.

Speaking of, did everyone get the ADR's they wanted? Here's hoping yes!

:wave2: Hi there Brandi!! Glad you're back!!

Ah yes, I understand those kinds of moods - I was in one myself not too long ago -or am I still in it?? Hmm ask my husband.

Anyway yes you definitely should try one of the RCL megaships - you will not be disappointed!! Killer whale, you make me laugh, see why we missed you??:lmao:

I am with you Brandi - I wish I had more opportunities to dress up and go out. I always used to look forward to my DH's company Christmas party every year, a chance to get all dressed up and have a really grand time - but now there have been cutbacks - and the party is now at some dude ranch. Yes a dude ranch. The invitation said "casual or formal - come as you wish" - I can't see doing a hayride in a formal gown. So I'm just not going!

I did see that that Friday MK closes at 7 - and that was the day I was planning on going. So I was thinking about changing our plans to go to MK on Saturday instead - split up the day by going back to the hotel and taking a nap, etc and then going back to MK for the rest of the evening. But I read somewhere someone said don't go to MK on a Saturday - that's the day all the locals go and it gets crowded. So now I don't know what to do - I need some advice from you experts please!!! And please tell me more about a Pirate and Princess Party - I haven't looked much into that - is this something my DS will love??

A hay ride in a formal gown, snort!! :lmao: I can just see the hay clinging to your pantyhose now. DH's company is doing cutbacks to. Don't you just love the economy? Mixed blessing, they are doing a mandatory vacation for the week of Thanksgiving. Which is great...if you have vacation, but there are a lot of contractors who work there who do not get vacation pay at all, and you know that hurts right before xmas. :sad2:

Now that I've bummed everyone out, back to vacation talk!

What day are you arriving at WDW? If you're on one of the earlier flights, you could do MK in the evening on Thursday and do morning on Saturday! I can't imagine many locals get there right at opening, and it sure seems easy to do lots of things as long as you do it before noon.

But anyway, if your son likes pirates then I bet he'll LOVE the P&PP party, though I know after laying out all that money for a vacation, it can be irksome to pay ANOTHER $40/pp. I know, either way, it would be a pain to have to use one of your park tickets for only part of the day. Decisions, decisions! Personally, I just really really want to a) experience MK when only so many people are allowed in (I'm such an elitist ;) ) and b) see the special P&PP parade and fireworks, as well as the cool decorations. Here are a few links for websites with info on the events: http://www.intercot.com/infocentral/park/pnpparty/default.asp
http://www.allearsnet.com/tp/mk/pirateprincess.htm

One thing I read on DIS is that with your P&PP ticket, you can arrive at the park at 4 pm though the party doesn't start until 7 pm. We only have 2 day park tickets (non hoppers) and the plan was to use 1 day at MK, and 1 day at Epcot. Now I'm thinking of doing the P&PP party as my MK time and MGM in the morning on Friday.

Oh wow, my husband's company makes them take "mandatory vacation" too - during Christmas - two weeks! What the heck is "mandatory" vacation anyway - doesn't sound like much of a vacation. Thankfully my husband has worked there 20 years and has around 6 weeks of vacation time each year- but it sucks that two weeks of it is already decided for him. I too feel sorry for the employees who don't have the vacation time to take - and wind up with two weeks no pay right before Christmas. :sad2: Well, I just have to be thankful he has a good job that he loves...

Okay - thanks so much for the links! - :thumbsup2 you've given me some good ideas and things to think about - my son LOVES pirates, he especially loves Captain Jackpirate: . That really sounds awesome. I'm gonna be on the watch for it and consider it, although that does kinda suck to have to pay extra to get into a park we could get into anyway!! What do you think the crowds will be like at a party??

We arrive Thursday, hopefully around 11 a.m. or so - although I still haven't made flight arrangements yet, I've been hoping for fares to come down a bit, but with all the fuel surcharges and things going on lately, I don't think that'll be happening anytime soon. Southwest just opened their schedules up through May 9 - does not help me at all. Fares are hovering around $300 right now - and I know just as soon as I go ahead and book there's gonna be some crazy sale for $49 each way or something. Oh well, that's always my luck.

Hey Brandi! So happy to see ya, hon and hope you're feeling better...

Rest assured I recovered pretty quickly from my "bad wine" experience - I'm a tough old broad and it takes more than some dodgy aged grape juice to bring me to my knees... ;)

Anyway, as you're asking, my DH is Head of European Equities at beleaguered Citi here in London and, as I learnt very early in his career that I detest most stockbrokers, I attend work functions very infrequently. I do look forward to getting dressed up tho' so I make an effort every Friday for our regular date...

True clotted cream comes from one area of England called Cornwall. It's made with unpasteurised milk and is absolutely delish!!!! It really bears no relation to double cream - it's rich, thick and yellowy with a smooth, silken texture... Okay, okay, I admit it... I'm drooling... :cloud9: It's served in small pots and is covered by a crust (clot) which you break through to access the nectar beneath. We have it as part of a traditional cream tea - warm scones, strawberry jam, clotted cream and a fabulous pot of loose leaf assam tea to wash it down - here's a pic tho' I always put the jam on first...

ADRs-wise, just got the one for this trip at the mo - Victoria & Albert's on May 4th. :woohoo: We're not planning on doing the parks too much so opting for resort-based dining - Kona Cafe, Artist's Point, Chef Mickey's, Grand Floridian Cafe...

A P&P event would be awesome! :thumbsup2 According to Tour Guide Mike, we can expect one on May 9th so anyone fancy a mini-meet??? We're planning to do our traditional "4-Parks-In-1-Day" but some extra MK time is always special... :goodvibes

OK so after being all blase about it, I decided to just go for it and make the damn ADRs! After doing a little research, I really wanted to make sure we had a Boma ressie for the 8th as according to TGM, this is a great day for "4-Parks-In-1-Day"! If we're up for an early start, we could sneak into MK first thing followed by Epcot, MGM and ending with AK which has an EMH...

So we're officially booked in for:

Sunday May 4th: Victoria and Albert's @ 9pm...

Monday May 5th: I though we might want a free day here after last nights delights and/or excesses... ;)

Tuesday May 6th: Kona Cafe @ 8.15pm...

Wednesday May 7th: Grand Floridian Cafe @ 8pm...

Thursday May 8th: - Boma @ 8.20pm...

Friday May 9th: Chef Mickey's Character Dinner Buffet @ 6.40pm - earlier than usual in readiness for a potential PPP... :thumbsup2

Saturday May 10th: Artist's Point @ 8.30pm...

Sunday May 11th: Head for Port Canaveral... :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

PS: Any news on the Palo Brunch yet? Anyone doing Palo's for dinner?? And, if so, any thoughts on which day???
Now who's the nosy one...?

Hello again!

Can't keep away at the moment as I'm suddenly uber-excited about the May trip! :dance3:

I compared notes with my DD last night and the other things we want to do in May are parasailing at the Contemporary, the Segway tour at Fort Wilderness and she wants to try the surfing lessons at Typhoon Lagoon! We'll squeeze one more Universal Studios visit before our APs expire and I'm currently debating the merits of a SeaWorld AP so we may head there too...

Cruise-wise, we're hoping to book Palo for the first night as it's Mother's Day. Not sure whether we'll do more than just laze the days away on Castaway Cay and I quite fancy a cabana massage/facial... :cloud9:

Not too long to go now... :yay: :yay: :yay:

Thanks Karen!! :goodvibes

You know what - I am super excited too!! I can't wait!! You are so organized, gosh I wish I was - I keep going back and forth on my plans. I think I have definitely decided we WILL do the P&PP if it's offered - that sounds like soooo much fun!! My son will absolutely love it. (okay I will too  )

You are most welcome, Yvonne! :thumbsup2

It feels sooo much closer now - just gotta keep our fingers crossed for that Pirates & Princesses Partay! WE ARE GOING TO HAVE THE BEST TIME!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Hi all, :goodvibes

Remember me?!? :confused3

We are leaving Monday for our trip to Orlando/WDW, then Cocoa Beach for Thanksgiving and Friday, then a 7day Eastern on the Magic. :wizard:

We are planning to book onboard for this DoubleDip and then a Back2Back 3day ...
... making it 7 days with 3 stops at CastawayCay. :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

I have been so busy with the kids sports, scouts and school that I have completely ignored this thread. :snooty:

When we return December 3rd, I will be in serious DCL withdrawal (you repeaters know what I mean) and I will NEED you all!! :sad2:

Sorry to be a stranger, but I wanted to at least say hi before we leave and hopefully a big HELLO once we book onboard next weekend.

:tinker: Karen

Hi there!

Sounds like you're set up for an awesome trip! :goodvibes

We'll be here for you when those Post Cruise Blues hit. ;) Do not worry - IMO planning ensures a complete recovery and the back-to-back with 3 Castaway Cay stops sounds perfect medicine... :cloud9:

Have an absolutely Magical time and say 'hello' to the old girl for me...

Just giving us a little *bump*...

Morning Divas! ;) Hope everyone's well and looking forward to Thanksgiving!

Hi there, Yvonne! :goodvibes So happy to see ya... :thumbsup2

It's been very quiet on here lately... :sad2: Ah well, Christmas will be upon us before we know it, quickly followed by 2008!!! :scared1:

My Christmas shopping is almost done and I've spent the past couple of days wrapping - which invariably hurts my back...

I can't believe this time next week I'll be in the Happiest Place on Earth!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Ladies, ladies, ladies!!! We were on page three!!!

How are y'all doing?

I think we're the only ones left Karen!! :scared1: Where is everybody??!! We are getting so close to our trip!

Well Christmas is just around the corner so maybe everyone is preoccupied. Thinking about our upcoming cruise helps me get through the craziness of the holidays. Plus I have to report that my little Alec has started basketball - in his first two games he was awesome!! I am so proud of him!!!:yay: He scored 8 points first game and 6 points the second game. Now i don't want to brag, but we won first game 8 - 0, second game 6 - 4. :goodvibes We're having so much fun.

Hope everyone has a great week.
