May 11th 2008 ~ Any Double Dippers Out There?

Anyone going to the parks after the cruise... My wife is looking for a roller coaster buddy. DS who would love them - isn't tall enough yet. DD has no interest in the big coasters...

Going to MK - Thursday PM and Saturday.

See you 2 months from Tomorrow.

Hi! Sadly we're in WDW the week before the cruise and flying back to the UK the same day as the Wonder returns to Port Canaveral...

With the yukky weather we're having in the UK at the moment, this cruise can't come quickly enough... :cloud9:

Thanks for the welcomes everyone. I've had the flu for the past 4 days and wasn't even online. Talk about withdrawal. Yes, I really can't wait for the cruise now after our record snow we had in Ohio this weekend. 15.5 inches on our deck!!! Plus being sick all weekend. I REALLY have cabin fever. I'm glad I wasn't cruising this weekend. Alot of the airports were closed. I wonder how many people missed their cruise. I still can't check my reservations online. I can't remember if it took this long last time or not. I usually don't have trouble booking for Palo especially on Pirate Night. There are usually always cancellations and you can just check every day. Actually, I think you put your name in, and they call you if someone cancels.

CustardTart, I'm excited to meet someone from across the pond. Aside from crew members, in 7 cruises, I've never met anyone from the UK. We watched the Brit Awards last night on BBC America and it was so cool seeing bands that I never heard of. I guess I sort of just assumed that everyone that was popular there was popular here.

We had a cruise meets in the Promenade Lounge at 3 on our last cruise. The trouble with that was that we didn't get picked up from the Disney resort until 1, got to the ship around 2. RUSHED up to grab a bite to eat before the buffet closed, by then it was 2:45, I took a few bites, ran down to the meet, ran back up, my entire tray, husband AND 2 yr. old were gone (she got fussy so he was walking around with her), and the buffet was closed so I couldn't get more food. Blahh!!! Anyhow, we are doing the resorts before again and I hope we don't arrive so late. But 3 is really the only time to do it. If this was a 7 day, I would suggest that we meet again midweek in case anyone missed the initial meet. We didn't do that last time, and I really would've liked to get together with some of the ones that missed.

Looking forward to meeting all of you.

What a fun idea CustardTart! I'm so excited to meet everyone! We have late dinner seating. We are staying at CSR for a few days after our cruise.

What is your first name? I'll introduce myself properly onboard, for now Pirate will have to due.

How old are you? 36, I think. Actually I try not too ;) !

What is your favourite non-Disney movie? to many to name, but The Color Purple (no pun intended), The Matrix, and sorry, old and corny I know but a true classic, Caddy Shack. FYI, I love the gopher.

Who is your favourite band/recording artist? I love U2! Aerosmith is awesome too. I hung out with them backstage many, many, many years (not to mention pounds) ago. Great group of guys. And, okay, I'm really dating myself Duran Duran.

What's your fave album? don't have one

What's your fave TV show? easy, LOST. Bones is runner up. I also like House and Supernatural has its moments.

:cool1: My daughter's Make a Wish coordinator just called and they were able to get our other daughter scheduled on the dolphin excursion! This will be amazing! :dance3:

I guess I have to start packing things now. I know it's still two months away, but we shouldn't need summer clothes before then and it'll give me something to do since the scheduling part of our trip is over now. I have a feeling I'm among people here who understand my need to do SOMETHING to prepare. :rotfl: :rotfl: Since I'm almost finished going through the Passporter ebooks, and the new Passporter hasn't shipped yet, I'm almost out of things to do to prepare!

Of course, I still need to make door signs and a fish extender... guess I'm not lacking for projects as much as I thought! LOL

More great news, Melissa!!! I'm so pleased for you - it's lovely when a plan comes together... :thumbsup2

I know what you mean about the Passporter - I'm DESPERATE for the new one to arrive!!! Don't they know peeps gotta cruise????!!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

OK talking of Fish Extenders, I bought a fab one off eBay. So now I have one, what do I do with it!!!????

DCL number 7 and we've never done a fish extender or the door magnets. I'm not very crafty or creative. The last cruise was even the first cruise after discovering the Disboards. I hardly saw any door magnets and no fish extenders. I was "thinking" about attempting to make a door magnet, but I looked at the cost of the magnetic paper and just the frustration I would save myself by not doing one and decided against it. Don't get stressed out if you don't have one. They are fun and add excitement to your planning, but for me, it's just one less thing to worry about.

I haven't read through all the posts, but does anyone know what day Pirate night is? I had my reservation written down wrong so now that I have the right number, I can continue to check on Palo. It is still booked.

There are reservations open RIGHT NOW!!!

Pirate night is the third night, correct? That's what I keep reading anyway.

I'm not stressing over the FE or the magnets... I'm stessing over passing the time between now and May. :rotfl: Our magnets are going to be printed out and then just have magnet tape stuck to the back of them, I think. Will be much less expensive than full sheets of magnet paper. I just want it to be extra special for my family, after the year we've survived, and I know the boys especially will be very happy to have our doors decorated. :D

The FE will be great, I think, for the girls' friends to leave them notes, or us to leave each other notes. I know some boards even do a small exchange, where everybody brings something small (like a magnet maybe, or even something homemade) from their home state, for instance, and puts one in the FEs of the people on their board. I guess CMs or even just strangers will often slip a little surprise in there also. It's just more magic, basically. :goodvibes NOT a necessity, by any means, but I think it'll be fun for the children and a great way to keep in touch with my family. I think I may buy little things for the members of my family and then I can just sneak them in their pockets daily to surprise them. :D

Anybody interested in doing a board exchange? I have no idea how to organize it, other than what I've read on other threads, but would be willing to participate. I think it sounds like fun. We're on deck 1, though, so not sure anybody would want to come all the way down there. LOL

I'd love to participate - have fish extender, will join in... :goodvibes I've no idea what the format is tho', Melissa. What do you think???

There's a good description of how one group ran their exchange, along with some gift suggestions here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=23736664&posted=1

That would probably work well for the longer cruises, but maybe for a shorter cruise like ours, we might want to just do the exchange. So, if everybody who wanted to participate pms me with their information, then I can make a master list and send that list out to everybody who is participating a set amount of time before the cruise.

The information pm'd to me can include just the Dis name and stateroom number, or it can include the names (or first initial) and ages of those in your stateroom. Whatever information you want to share, basically. We can set a deadline for joining, say three weeks before the cruise? At that time I can put the list together and get it sent out so everybody can get their gifts put together and packed in their luggage or shipped to the Wonder. We can do a "theme" such as Disney, or something having to do with your state. Then sometime during the cruise, whenever the participant wants to do it, each participant goes around and delivers their gifts to the other staterooms, either putting them in the FE or asking a stateroom attendant to put them in the room, if it's too large to fit in the FE.

I'd be happy to organize the names, or somebody else can do it. I'm just viewing this as possibly the only cruise we will ever go on, so I want to make the most of it. :thumbsup2

...here's mine!

I got the extender off eBay and the very kind lady who made it, personalised it with our family name... :thumbsup2

Just checking in because its starting to feel more real now that its less than 2 months away, yaaaaay!

Oops, never truly introduced myself:
What is your first name? Theresa
How old are you? 31

What is your favourite Disney movie? how can I pick just one?!?! It changes all the time. Right now I'd have to say Robin Hood.

Who is your favourite Disney character? Megara's my favorite, though Mulan and Esmerelda are up there. I'm not a princess kind of girl.

How many times have you been to WDW? Only twice. Spend most of my time closer to home @ DLR (too many visits to count, annual passholder).

Which WDW park is your favourite? Animal Kingdom

Where do you like to stay in WDW? Haven't stayed enough to have something I can call a favorite.

What is your favourite colour? blue

What is your favourite non-Disney movie? Spirited Away

Who is your favourite band/recording artist? my "listen to in any mood" music is bluegrass..Allison Krauss & Union Station, Nickel Creek, Old School Freight Train ...

What's your fave album? Flyer (Nanc Griffith)

What's your fave TV show? Dr. Who... of course, always playing catch up, a season behind the actual screening schedule when watching here in the states (between catching it SciFi and BBC America). I miss Rose.

...I think that was all of the questions? :confused3
Count me in to the group that's trying to patiently wait for the passporter! Shipping is only a few days away, I keep telling myself. Staying on property at WDW resort after the cruise, but we have no idea where we'll we be on any of the days (at least not yet). Still haven't made dining arrangements (arg! the dining plan has made it crazy, but we'll see if what we want is even available when I actually call). So many things still to get done.

Hi everyone,
Been a while since I checked in do I thought I would say hi. :wave2:

What's your fave TV show? Greys, Desperate Housewives

I think that is it.

As far as the FE I would love to participate, as long as there is not a ton of us particiapating. On my last cruise my friend Kristin and I organized the DIS trick or treat for Halloween. We spent all afternoon walking around the ship putting up about 40 door signs. I want to particiapte, but do not want to blow a whole afternoon walking from room to room. I am on precious kid free time!!!:goodvibes

Tim and I ordered our Pirates and Princess Party tickets. We are so excited. We will actually get to dit with each other on the rides!!!! After that we are spending a few night s at the Radisson at the port. Is anyone else going to be staying at the Radisson? Last time we sailed we had a little DIS meet at the Radisson the night before.

Tim and I will try and stop by for the meet onboard!

How I wish the next two months would just fly by!!!!

What's your fave album? Violator...

Had Enjoy The Silence on in my car just this morning... :thumbsup2

Good point, Heather... :goodvibes

I think if the FE exchange gets very large, we should split it up into smaller groups. I'd rather do maybe 10 to 15. That way I can spend a few minutes each day, but not a lot of time away from my family all at once. :D
