Cast - myself and DH (MarkRG - who did his reports live from the Magic). Also along were Mark's parents Bob & Susan. This was our 5th DCL cruise - their 3rd.

Our goal - to relax and enjoy! With so many new ports for us we were interested in the experience. Since we have no kids the reports won't cover that. Since this was our 5th cruise we also opted out on all the big shows. I must say though that this was the most wonderful cruise I've ever taken. So on with the show:

Did I tell you before how much I love sea days! Rest, rest, rest. That was my goal today (actually this whole vacation). Work has been crazy and this is my get away from it all vacation!

Which doesn't mean we didn't do anything. Mark had posted on the cruise forum asking anyone if they had questions about the Magic they wanted answered. I took care of a couple of them by going to the Captain's Corner. Upon entering I found Ellen from the Cruise Staff. This is one versatile lady. We saw here briefly on the first night hosting Mickey Mania in a crazy suit, then she did the ships tour, and last night at the deck party she was dancing like crazy. One of the questions asked was if she was still there and the status of a few others. She answered my questions quickly and was amazed that people were asking about her and the others.

At the Captain's Corner I asked about dry dock and got the answer that is now well known:

ESPN to become a teens club
Common Grounds to become a coffee shop
Off Beat to become a Cheers type sports bar.

I love this session and this one in Rockin Bar D was nice and intimate.

After Mark and I got a chance to talk to Cruise Director Rick for a few minutes. What a great guy!

Went up to the buffet but it was mobbed! Picked up something quick and took it back to our veranda - sweet!

After lunch I read for a while, then settled back in for nap. Told you I love sea days!

Mid afternoon did the galley tour. We had done this before but got an added plus this time. We got to watch one of the pastry chefs making a wedding cake. We had 5 weddings on the cruise, one on Monday (sea day), two on Thursday (sea day) and two on Friday (Castaway Cay). Also got freshly baked (as in still hot) chocolate chip cookies - yum!

Tonight is formal night so that meant some extra time getting ready. Had to put on panty hose for the first time in I don't know how many years (2 at least) :) Well worth it though for a nice evening. This was our first dinner in Lumieres as we skipped the first one for Palo. Tonight was the Captain's gala and Mark had the lobster while I had chicken breast. We both had the lava cake for dessert - wow - very very chocolate!

Back to the room after dinner to get undressed. Sorry to those who like being dressed up all night. If we were going to the show I would have stayed dressed but we were only going up on deck so I got comfortable. Mark headed down to the internet cafe to update his reports while I watched Disney Dreams on tv and started some of the packing. I love that they pipe the live shows into the rooms now. I definately wouldn't miss the shows live the first time, but since this was our 5th.

Two special things tonight. The first was a total eclipse of the moon. I have never seen one and this one was amazing. We went up on deck 10 not long after it started and watched as the moon was slowly eaten away. Then it was totally blacked out!!!

About the same time that finished it was time to head down to deck 3 for the gala dessert buffet. The desserts were fantastic, but we were disappointed that the other displays were styrofoam. On our other 7 day in 2001 there were massive chocolate displays. There was a beatiful ice sculpture but that was it.

When we got back to our room we went out to the veranda to see the eclipse again. By now the moon was back-lit and looked like something out of space mountain. There were also millions and millions of stars. Just amazing! I just sat there for over an hour watching it. This is what cruising and verandas are all about - being alone with nature!

What a perfect end to the day.

I was wondering if I would see a post about the lunar eclipse. It had to have been so wonderful seeing it aboard the Magic.

Sounds good - relaxing - off to check your next post. Thanks for all the updates!
