My Darling Husband left the tree outside last night in the truck....ya know, in the OPEN bed in the back. Well we got a huge ice storm here, no snow. My tree was frozen....like a treecycle. It's now in the bathtub defrosting. If you open the bathroom door it smells like EVERGREEN even though the tree is a blue spruce. After it defrosts we'll have to wait for it to dry off before we can put the lights on. Usually, water and electricity don't mix very well.
We've got more ice falling now and we don't have any level land on our property. It's all falling on top of the snow that we already had on the ground. It's slick and dangerous out there. The kid fell as he was getting the tree out of the truck this morning.
Oh winter wonderland.....I wish it was snow instead of ice. All the news reports were wrong. We were supposed to be in the snow belt and not the ice belt. Wrong!
I wonder how John and Alex are doing in the snow at the Browns game. It must be bitingly cold. Hope the Browns win.
Oh Deb, I had to laugh about the frozen tree. It sounds like something my DH would do. We got the same freezing rain around here. It turned to rain after awhile, and it's a big slushy mess.
Good Morning everyone!! OMG, what a fun night we had last night. We did a progressive dinner with two other couples...one lives on the street behind us and the other a few streets away. Very fun. I had the dinner part, so I did a standing rib roast, creamy horseradish, scalloped potates and green beens almondine and french bread. I tried a recipe for the roast that I've never done before and it turned out perfect, I think I'll make it for Christmas dinner. All you do is have the rib roast come to room temp (which took about 3 hours for an almost 7 lb, 3 rib roast), and preheat the oven to 500 degrees. You roast it for 5 minutes per pound, then shut the oven off and leave it in there for 2 hours....WITHOUT opening the door. It was perfect. Fortunately I have two ovens so I was able to delay start the potatoes in the lower oven, and didn't have to worry about coming home until dinner time. It was so much fun and less stressful because you didn't have to worry about the cradle to grave components of a meal, that we all agreed we had to do it more often. Oh...and we also had pomegranite margs....YUMMY!!!!
YUMMY! That sounds heavenly!
So we didn't go to McDonald's or Burger King. Tyler told me he's too tired to go anywhere!
All that playing in the snow made him tired! My body is very stiff now and difficult to move from all the shoveling. But, such a great workout! I found some frozen pizzas in the freezer to bake. We each ate almost a whole pizza!
He's dying to get back outside, so maybe after my food settles.
Awww, I wish we could have gotten some snow here, because my siblings would have loved running around in it. We never seem to get enough to do cool forts like you guys did.
I made pulled pork for dinner tonight and not one person (except my mom) will be here for dinner.
I am off to the hospital
Annie and Daniel are at the Chick-Fil-A Christmas party
Gretchen and Don are at Footloose practice
Vanessa is in NY (well she is on her way back)
Does anyone make pulled pork? It is so easy and it tastes so yummy.
I buy about 5 pound of pork shoulder (I buy it at costco for about $9)
Then there is McCormick spice package called PULLED PORK.
I put both in the crock pot with catsup, vinagar, and brown sugar (right off the McCormick Package) and cook it all day long. The house does smell heavenly!!
It is so easy and so good and feeds my large family for 2 meals for about $12.
Since no one will be here tonight, I already have dinner done for tomorrow!!
MMmm, yes I love making pulled pork. I have a couple of different recipes for it, and it's always slow cooked in the crock pot.
Good luck with your FIL tonight- I'm so glad he's recovering well
BLAKE CALLED ME ALREADY! We just talked for 1/2 hour giving each other a brief summary of the past 13 years, but every time I'd partially tell him about something, he'd cut me off to ask even more!
It's like we couldn't tell each other everything fast enough. SO......he wants to go out really soon, maybe this week! I told him I already have plans on Thursday but that Wed & Fri are open. He says he'll call me in a few days when he has a better handle on his workload and whether he'll have to work late either of those days. But he told me to definitely feel free to call him before he calls me back.
OOoooooooh! So sweet!
OK how long did it take from first date to knowing that you had met your lifemate? It took me and John 24 hours. How long did it take everyone else? Who is the shortest and who is the longest? Just curious!
Hmmm, I can't say that I knew Josh and I were going to be lifemates after our first date. I didn't even give him a kiss- just a friendly hug. I think it was about a week later when I knew for sure. This is going to sound insane-- but Giuliette was potty training, and by mistake, she was sitting on Josh's lap and peed all over him. Instead of freaking out or acting like a jerk, he was so calm and understanding.. I knew he was perfect for me.
We're still on the fence about the excursions. Definately we're looking at a group of us doing zip lining in Puerto Vallerta. Mom may take the girls (and possibly Grant) to see dolphins in either Acapulco or Cabo San Lucas. We might do the beach/water park tour in Aruba, but I'm thinking about just taking a taxi to one of the beaches instead (cheaper!) I was contemplating if it pays to get a jeep with you guys, but we'd have more than 4 people, and I'm not sure if it pays to get two jeeps.. oh choices choices!!
Oh, and I'm pretty sure we'll have more theme nights. I wish they'd give us some more information about that stuff!!
