BUSY day again! Well, I had a rough time getting started....had to go back to sleep on the couch for a half hour while Tyler ate breakfast and watched a show. We played a bit with some of his new stuff, then headed out to use part of his Walmart gift card. Then we went out for lunch, then headed to his yearly eye exam. He needs a new prescription because his one eye that was nearsighted has completely switched to farsighted over the last year (the other eye has astigmatism). Crazy. That explains why he's been taking his glasses off to see things or looking over the top of his glasses, and holding things close to his face to see, and his eyes burn by the end of the school day. These things just became evident a couple weeks ago, but we already had this appointment scheduled, so he just dealt with it until today. The doc wants him to come back 1/9 to try out some sample prescriptions to see which work best for him. I don't understand why he has to come back for that, but whatever. In the meantime, I told him he doesn't have to wear his glasses because they're not going to do him any good anyway. Poor guy.

So after our 2 1/2 hour eye appointment, when we were a few minutes away from home, Tyler's dad called to tell me he's sitting in our driveway and wondering when we'll be home. He never learns.....if he's getting out of work early and picking Tyler up early, just give me a call and I'll make sure we're there. Not too difficult! Men are so hard-headed! :rotfl2: So Tyler left, and I headed out for a girls night out dinner at my favorite Mexican restaurant. Yummy!

I also want a lifeboat that can look in someone's window since I need a TV on to fall asleep. Should we request which location we want?

I hope Marilyn doesn't mind because I need the TV on to go to sleep also. But I think all the lifeboats are on deck 4 and there's no rooms there. We may have to bring a portable radio.

Here's a crazy story involving my nutso mom! :rotfl: Do you all know of the New Years Eve party poppers?
CHAMPANGE-PARTY-POPPERS-DISPLAY.jpg

Well, she put a few in Tyler's Christmas stocking, my stocking, and my aunt's, plus saved a few for herself. We'll use ours on New Years Eve. Well, here's an e-mail she sent me this afternoon:

Guess I am not smarter than a fifth grader!!!
I decided to open one of those poppers that I included in the Christmas
stockings. I pulled the string, I did have sense to point away from
face, but I was in the spare bedroom!! Do you know that they are for outside use only??!!!!!!!
Like I said, i am not smarter than a fifth grader!!!

UGHHHHHH Internet woes....I have been getting kicked off all day, finally got on for a bit and got some pics uploaded.

Lisa, I am so sorry that yesterday's events have gotten everyone so upset. It must be hard for all...

To the Lifeboat Crew: We'll be sure to bring you lots of DOD's and a few extra towel animals!!! :thumbsup2 :lmao:

Well, we are off to see PS I Love You! Scott is such a trooper going to see chick flicks with me since I don't like most suspense/thriller movies. The girls are gone until tomorrow!

Great pics Kaylee....thanks for sharing them! But.....may I ask why you have a box of Lucky Charms under your tree? :rotfl2:

Hey, enjoy your kid-free evening! :woohoo:

Thanks Holly....
Well, now not sure what we are doing, may tackle some remaining boxes!

The cereal....kids only get sugar cereal from Santa or when we are on vacation! So, every year they each get a box. Isn't Santa sneaky :lmao:

Kaylee, I LOVE the pics....I'm so glad the postcards worked for one right away and the other later. The girls look so adorable, I'm sure they'll have a good time....just remember, food cures all!!!

Holly, your mom sounds like she's crazy and fun!! I don't know anyone who would not have known about the poppers. What a kooky gal.

Nan, I PM'd you back!!

Thanks Holly....

Ah....now the cereal makes sense! :thumbsup2 Great idea! At least they get some....my mom didn't allow anything with sugar in the house and I completely rebelled when I was older. Got my fill of what I was deprived of. I'd sneak up to the store after school and buy a huge bag full of chocolate stuff and scarf it all down before she got home from work. Probably wouldn't have felt the need to do that if Santa had brought me some sugar cereal like he does for your girls! Wonderful idea.....Santa sure is smart! :goodvibes

:rotfl2: Tell her to count reindeer! That's what Tyler told me he'd do to fall asleep last night, but he didn't need to because he was asleep before 7pm. ;)

Savannah did not have the greatest night. She started throwing up Christmas Eve and was up all night on and off. She got up and wanted to open presents at 9:30 which is way late for Christmas morning, but she had a fever all night and really was quite sick. She seemed ok, had fun opening presents and her fever seemed gone, so we thought she just had a bug. She played with her cousins, but just seemed a little off all day.

Anyway, she had this strange rash under one arm. I thought maybe it was fever blisters. She would be fine, then grumpy, then fine, then not fine. This morning the rash was WORSE and her fever was back full on again.

Well, one benefit to having a sister who works for a pediatricians office is immediate care, so I took her to the DR. this morning, Steve was positive she had shingles but she actually has a staff infection. Get out! I had no idea, and the throwing up was just a coincidence. She will be on heavy duty antibiotics for the next 10 days.

I didn't even know people got that outside of hospitals. How do you even get a staff infection?

Anyway, a holiday for the books. Learn something new every day, even on Christmas.

Well, my mom had a couple glasses of wine before I left her house yesterday, so I suspect she and my aunt continued because there were FOUR BOTTLES there! I'm just wondering how many bottles of wine disappeared before she had the bright idea of doing the popper inside! :rotfl:

Kaylee....on behalf of the Lifeboat Crew....deliveries of DODs and towel animals will gladly be accepted and will just make us want to stay in that lifeboat.....it's getting good now!!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Here's a cute story I forgot to share from yesterday. I looked out my kitchen window at some point and saw big bootprints in the snow (we only had a dusting of snow) and realized the mailman must have delivered, so on our way out to the stores I went to check the mail. While I was checking the mail, Tyler was checking for reindeer hoofprints on the roof. We had no snow on the roof, so he didn't see any, but when he saw the mailman's bootprints, he said, "Hmmmm.....I see your footprints and they're right there, the smaller ones are mine, so WHO could have made those GIANT bootprints?! They HAVE to be Santa's boots!" He was so excited and was so sure they were Santa's footprints, it was just so cute! He thought they might be his dad's footprints coming over to trick him, but he says he knows his dad's feet aren't that big.

THANK GOODNESS FOR A MAILMAN WITH GIANT FEET AT CHRISTMAS TIME!!!! :santa:

OK, I do have a funny today. On the 24th a local radio station had Santa on the air during a regular talk show. Kids could call in and talk to Santa. It was really cute. One little boy called in and Santa asked him what he wanted for Christmas and the little boy said, um Santa, and started to cry just a little, I have been bad, I'm sorry. Of course Santa reasured him that all would be well, but the poor kid could not even talk through the hiccuppy thing kids get. It was just precious.

A staff infection? I thought you could only get that in hospitals too. Wow. I learned something too.

Make sure that Savannah gets plenty of rest and fluids too...it will help her fight her infection. I'm glad she sort of got to enjoy Christmas. Hope she feels better quickly.

I am so sorry Savannah had such a difficult night. And then to have Staff on top of throwing up......how awful!!

There has been a lot of Staff in the schools around here. Mostly in the gym and locker rooms. There have been several reports where they can not figure out where the person got the infection.

I hope she gets well quickly!!!

FOUR BOTTLES of wine....just opening up one bottle would be enough for me! That may have contributed to the situation....oh definitely!!

Thanks Deb....the postcards really were a great ending to the treasure hunt!

Kim, so sorry to hear Savannah had such a rough Christmas. Glad she is on the antiobiotics and will be good as new really soon. Did she share any skating costumes recently? Or have a small cut? Those would be 2 thoughts on where it might come from.

No problem. :goodvibes
As you can tell, the movies got cancelled so we could unpack a few boxes :confused3 :sad2:

Poor Savannah! Hopefully she'll be all cleared up soon. :thumbsup2

Staph infections have become quite common in schools around here, but primarily with athletes....they pick it up from sharing equipment (or so our news reports have said).
