Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. We just got home from my sister in laws and we had a great time but it was filled with mishaps. First it started with my BIL, Eric...he was sitting on the couch, took a big stretch, which caused him to knock a lamp over on a sofa table that was behind him. The lamp fell onto the table which had protective glass on it. The glass broke and then gouged the cherry table top. OK, we get that cleaned up and Eric promises to replace the glass and have a professional refinish the table. Next my DH's nephew has some new toy and while we're all distracted we find him scraping it on the floor...normally would not be big deal but my BIL and SIL just had brand new wood floors put in, to the tune of $8K and they really didn't appreciate the nice new scratches he just put on them. So, what else could go wrong?! Well, my MIL puts her cup of eggnog on their grand piano so that she can put her jacket on....somehow she spills it and it goes everywhere INTO the piano...the felt hammers, the cords, everything. :scared1: And since my DS had just finished playing Jingle Bells, the top was open. So we then we realized it's also in the electronic componentry (it's also personless piano player, not sure what they're called, all I know is it cost about $15K). At that point I'm catching the vibe that my BIL is just wanting us to all leave. It was awful. To add insult to injury on the way out, my DH trips on a sprinkler head in their front yard and breaks it. A minor thing, but adding it to the rest, it just made the whole evening more painful for our hosts. Needless to say, the rest of us had a great time!

Well, I hope everyone had a blessed and happy Christmas!!! Looking forward to seeing you all in the new year!!!! :goodvibes

 Sounds like one of those painfully funny movie stories!!!
How awful for them, but I did chuckle a little. Don't suppose you will all be going there again.

What did everybody else get? Did anybody get anything Mickey?

Hello Everybody

We had a lovely quiet Xmas. My husband gave the wii for our family. Oh, it was good hilarous!! He bought extra games for the kids - Cars and Pirates for Wii!! My friend and her dog came for Xmas:santa: . We gave the laptop to our son but he was not bother at all as he was happy with games and wii too:confused3

We had a lovley xmas meals and watch tv last night. We were watching the dvd called 'beans on holiday'!! Also we were watching the film 'The Polar Express' as we thought it was good film as I never see it before as the kids saw it from the School.

Today, Boxing Day, we are going to husband's parent for dinner and swap over the presents.

For anyone that would like a last minute gift for someone the price for 4 hours is $2200. You can have up to 12 people so feel free to invite us as your guest!
gee, I'll take two!:thumbsup2

Well back to work today. Yuck!

The girls got so much stuff.....they are so spoiled! My dad got us tickets for WDW and they came in these very cute tins, I have never seen that before. What he still doesn't "get" is we get a renewal rate...he goes and buys new passes every year!

I think we are going to plan a weekend trip in Feb for Haley's birthday and then ESPN weekend in March and then nothing until way......after the cruise.

I get to work this am to a message from a nurse who has a Canadien patient about to be admitted who wants to know how much the Cardiac Cath will cost out of pocket...I have no idea!!! I had to call around to find the right person....I must be first on the Finance phone list or something, because I get all kinds of strange calls.

Xmas at our house went well yesterday...we swam for the better part of the afternoon. I got the Estee Lauder makeup kit and a Pleasures gift set...so I guess it is a good thing my mom bought me the Lancome!

My MIL got us Gator chairs, for tailgating...she forgets though that she already gave us a set of 4...so now we have lots of chairs!

What did everybody else get? Did anybody get anything Mickey?

Amy and I decided not to do much for each other too. Two trips to WDW within two months was good for us! I got her some more Pandora beads (including one I had already got her - duhhhhhhh), and she got me a cool tech hoodie from scott e vest -

www.scottevest.com

They make clothing for tech geeks with places for your ipod, cell phone, ear buds, etc. She knew I was buying Alex one, and decided to get one for me too!

Anyway, we wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

Now, huge favor for all the MAC experts. Got an iPod Touch today. We have a G5, running Panther. In order to use the Touch we need to upgrade (of course). Does anyone know our options? This is what we are thinking:

Upgrade to Tiger and then update to the correct system.

Just upgrade to Leopard if our system will handle it. Our friend told us Leopard needs a higher processor than our 1.8ghz. Current system is Mac OS X 10.3.9.

Just by a new iMac!!

Well, buying a new iMac is ALWAYS a good idea . . . but . . .

Your friend has some incorrect info . . .

Leopard's requirements are for 867 mhz +, BUT, that is only for G4 Macs. Since you have a G5, you are good to go no matter what the Mhz of the machine.

http://www.apple.com/macosx/techspecs/

I would upgrade to Leopard on your current system. Make a quick trip to the Apple store today!

Let me know how you like the touch - I am waiting until after MacWorld to see what new things come out - I would love to have one, but would 3 ipods be too many?

Our Christmas was nice but hectic..

Christmas Eve my mom and sister came over after church and we exchanged gifts, Just had appetizers. Sophia kept asking when they were leaving so Santa could come!

Christmas day John's dad, brother sister and niece came at 11:00 (or so they were late) for brunch. Egg and sausage casserole, fresh fruit,. cinn muffins, brunch punch. They stay all day!

5:00 My family- mom, sister, Aunt and cousins come for dinner. My other sister from Williamsburg, VA flew in at 8:00pm so my mom went to get her and her two kids and bring her back to the house. More Chaos ensues!!

11:00pm everyone leaves and we try to straighten up the house!

Today we will exchange gifts with my sister from Wiliamsburg, and tomorrow my dad, his wife and my sisters will come over for dinner and we will have Christmas with him!

Aren't the holidays great???

Since it's now after Christmas and the New Year is approaching.....I want to make reservations for a car service to pick me up from the car rental place to the port in FL and from the port in LA to LAX to pick up another car rental. My question is what time is everyone leaving the port in LA? I usually get off the boat around 9am and can have the car service pick me up about 9:15am....but I have a feeling that I might want to stick around a little longer that morning to say lots of goodbyes and exchange email addresses and such. What time should I have the car pick me up? 9:30am or 9:45am or even 10am. What time is everyone else planning to leave?

Are you dropping your car off after dinner on Friday at the port?
Are you going to the airport in LAX?

Are you dropping your car off after dinner on Friday at the port?

We'll drop the car rental off on Sat morning and have car service pick us up there and drop us off at the port.

Are you going to the airport in LAX?
Yes, we're going to pick up our car rental at LAX because we're dropping it off in Las Vegas at the end of the trip and the rates were better to do that if we pick it up at LAX.

I'm just trying to pin down times that I want the car service to pick me up at each end, since these reservations are the last that I have to do. I want to make them after the new year starts.....and that's less than a week away now....so I'll do it soon and then I'm finished completely with the planning....at least until I can book my excursions and spas and palo.

We should make up personal e-mail cards to exchange, lol. We can add a little of our personality to them, they would make a great remembrance of great characters on this cruise, lol. One could add other means of contact, like different IMs.

This is a great idea PJ.....I like it! I think we should all do it and put it in the fish extenders.

I am with PJ, for those who want to exchange emails, addresses, etc, we should make something up and we could put them all in the fish extenders or something.

Once I firm up my car service ressies....I'll start on my lists. I have Champagne Girls lists and Hight Tea lists and a who's coming and who cancelled list to give to Lisa who will update her list and give the master list to Noel. I think we can even put email address on the master list if anyone wants to do that too. We can put a copy of the master list in everyone's fish extenders also.

I am so tired....I could fall asleep right here at my desk.

Tonight I am doing nothing!! Luckily I have leftovers so dinner is taken care of. Hopefully John can bathe the girls and get them to bed.

Has anyone seen The Messengers? It looks pretty scary, but I want to see it.

Glad to hear, that for the most part, everyone has had a great Christmas:goodvibes And those not so expected moments...well they will make great family stories to re-tell on many a Christmas in the future!

I had a nice morning, Christmas brunch and afternoon with my DD and SIL and then they were off to visit other family members. This was my quietest Xmas ever, for many reasons. Christmas has been hard since 6 yrs ago when we found out a couple days before Xmas that my DH's cancer was back, and lost him a month later. It seemed especially hard this year with the back pain I experienced over the last few weeks (I am so much better now) because when my husband got sick again, it started with back pain, as he had a tumour in his spine, but for a month the doctor's thought it was just back strain, so of course this has reminded me of him even more, and all of the pain he went through. This is also the first year ever that I have not had both of my children home for Xmas, my son is in Alberta with his girlfriend and my new granddaughter and has had to work through the holidays. It is also the first year ever that I have not shared the day with my mom.We had a falling out a few months ago, and have not seen each other since. It is so unlike us, I still can't believe it has happened, but we are planning on getting together and trying to talk it out in January. She and my dad had the extended family at their house for Xmas dinner, as usual, so they did not spend the day alone, that would have made me very sad.

Sorry, didn't mean to sound so gloomy! I am really looking forward to starting a new year and going on this cruise! My daughter keeps asking me if she can join me, while I would love for her to, we both know it won't actually happen, she has a new husband, new house and doesn't get two weeks vacation yet from her job! We are talking about maybe the three of us going to WDW for a week next Dec!

Happy Holidays everyone! I am enjoying reading all of your stories:goodvibes
