John - what did you think of Journeyman? Storyline sort of reminds me of Quantum Leap. I taped it to watch tonight.

Monica, that came to mind as I was watching, but in Quantum leap the lead character didn't have the issue of a wife, son and brother to deal with, which give an interesting layer to the show. And the leaping doesn't seem to be voluntary in nature.

I have to speak up for those who are suggesting a dog from a shelter. I think it is very noble to save a dog (or a cat of a rabbit or whatever) we have wanted puppies too. actually I wanted the puppy(ies) I also wanted a specific breed, Border Collie. I think if we ever get another dog I would try to see if I could find a rescue or shelter dog. BUT!!!! We have out really old 15+ Casey girl who cried all day and got us up twice last night 1am and 3am, so for now we are on the other end of the dog cycle we are ready to say good bye to ours. (but not willing to put her down)

I'm a wine snob, proud to admit it.

Dog snob not so much....

Sorry no flames for ya tonight John.

We could argue about how sad it is that the Giants aren't playing anymore or that Barry is a good guy and hasn't been found guilty of anything....did you hear about the guy that bought his ball? Paul was telling me it's the owner of EKCO clothing lines and he is using it as a publicity stunt. I have to go snoop their website and find the whole story for you....brb

I hate that part of pet ownership Nan. They are really members of our families, and it is hard to say goodbye.

By wine snob, I mean someone who not only knows and appreciated fine wine, but makes fun of and disparages those who might like wine that is not considered "fine" wine. I don't mean Thunderbird or Boone's Farm either!

Somehow Nan, I don't picture you as that kind of wine snob. I am sure you know your wines, and know what you like, but I bet you don't look down your nose at others like some I know (like my boss).

Sounds like the book "The Time Travelers Wife" - which I really enjoyed!

I have to admit being a sci fi buff, I thought they have named her after the Firefly ship!!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Do any sci fi lovers watch 4400? It's on USA on Sun nights. They just did the season ender....but I'm about 7 episodes behind....on TiVo. They will probably repeat them if anyone is interested....the premise is that 4400 people were abducted then returned with individual unique abilities....John got me hooked on it and now he doesn't watch it.
:woohoo: :wizard: :woohoo:

I kept seeing that book on the atrium tables at the store and never picked it up to even read the back. I will have to swing by that department and check it out, because I really enjoyed the Journeyman pilot.

A bit of trivia, the same actor that was the lead in Quantum Leap, Scott Bakula was the captain in Enterprise.

now john I do have to snob at my mom, as she is always embarssing me by placing ice cubes in her wine!!!! the shame.... I have just concluded to get her the crap glass of white zin and save the good stuff for me and Paul. Yes I know what you meant I was just being silly....

I know how you feel Vanessa, I feel like that a lot sometimes too . . . I really like for my house to be neat and clean, but . . .

I’ve learned to think of it differently . . . Life, if you really think of it, disdains order. Life is messy. Life is not a museum, life is a carnival, a free for all. Whenever I have to pick up, or clean up all this stuff (which is hourly too) , I just look at it and tell myself this is the “evidence of life” all around me. Without all this stuff, without all this mess, there would be no life, and I have to be grateful for and remember these times because they do not last forever.

Some day my house may be the cleanest and stay clean for days at a time – only then will I realize what is missing, and I think I will miss it.

Amy has an aunt who always wanted to keep her house like a museum. The living room was an unapproachable place. You were afraid to take children there to visit.

Amy will attest that our house is full of the “Evidence of Life”, and I wouldn’t have it any other way – even though like Angie and Dennis, sometimes I could fill a dumpster with all that evidence!

I LOVE that you wrote this John....I lived alone for 13 years before meeting DH. I lived a perfect life....home, job, friends, family...etc. My apartment always looked perfect. If I put something down somewhere it stayed there until I moved it....but something was always missing.

After marriage, John's adult kids moved in with us and brought a two and three year old with them. Nothing has ever been "perfect" since, but I'm not missing anything....I'm so full of and surrounded by love....now I can't find anything, but who cares! That's not what is important. The more the mess, the more the love!:cloud9:  :cloud9:

Yes, I watch the 4400 and then the Dead Zone.

and kidna dreamy too IMHO

Well, personally, I preferred 7 of 9 (the converted Borg) - Jeri Ryan. Something about that skin tight suit . . .

A bit of trivia for you Star Trek Buffs, One of the main writers on the Next Generation, and Star Trek Voyager is Brian Braga, and Jeri Ryan was (may still be for all I know) his girlfriend. Well, he graduated from the same HS as me, Canton McKinley, in Canton, OH. He graduated in my brother's class, five years after me.

Going to bed.

Night.

DEB I know you asked me not to "Harp"on you about this but......
this started to bounce around in my head on the ride in today and now I can't shake it loose :confused3
to the tune of "Three Dog Night's Celebrate"

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

HA HA Very Funny Honey...good song though....I never have enough time to just sit and elevate. I try to do it when I sleep, but lately I've been falling asleep without getting to it. At least I'm making progress. Tomorrow is another Dr. apointment....we'll see what they say.

I used to watch the original Battlestar Galactic but did not get hooked on the new one yet. I am a huge Star Trek fan and tend to watch all their reruns of all the various shows. I loved the original Stargate movie but could never get into the series. Do you remember Roswell? My youngest DD liked that series.

I loved Roswell!

This sheds some light, V. Government job selection is like no other! I have a friend who applied as a nurse here at the VA 3 weeks ago. She called the manager who interviewed her on Monday and she said she selected her and sent the paperwork to Human Resources over a week ago. They will eventually send a letter to my friend offering her the position. :sad2: From the selecting end I can tell you that it is just as frustrating for us as it is for the applicant!

From our experience it could be weeks! Darrell interviewed for a couple of jobs and it took weeks before he was offered anything. The job he took he applied for in July - got called for the interview in November (we were in WDW when he got the call) - interviewed Thanksgiving week - got the offer 2nd week of Dec and started the end of January. His is Federal but I would guess state would be similiar.

:woohoo: :wizard: :woohoo:

I watched 4400 for the first 2 seasons and then I sort of just fizzled out on it. Not really sure why.

The Indians are playing the Mariners (are you watching Kaylee?), so they are in the top of the 1st, and Victor Martinez just hit a 3 run homer!

We are aiming for that best record in Baseball!

And wow, I just went past 6500 posts!

Nope, sorry John, not a baseball fan. I was raised in CT, so I am a true Bosox fan, if I even watch baseball, but no real ties to any team. I am a football girl only,:cheer2:

Don't beat yourself up too much V. I think I told you about what happened with our dog Dudley, and how we had to put him down when he bit someone. To this day I still feel like I failed him - and Sophia still asks about him.

It was one of the saddest days of my life.

What you said is really true though. You do not recognize how much you depend on the unconditional love of a dog until they are not there any more. They can be so much work, trouble, and expense. I have to tell you though since you told your story, I have tried to spend even more time with Lexi, make sure I take her on her walks, and play with her as much as I can. She is a scamp, but a real sweetheart too.

I will tell you again, you have to read "Life with Marley". BTW, it is about a yellow Lab.

Sadly, our "wash your own dog" place closed. Not enough business. He told me I was one of a handfull of his regular customers. People here in Canton OH just are not too open to new ideas.

When we lost our first "baby" we had to put her down on Scott's birthday. It was so sad for us. The worst part was that she did a bunch of stuff the day before that we got mad at her for and then she got sick overnight and died the next day (after we spent over 2000.00 trying to save her:scared1: )We felt so bad about that and probably always will.

When we got 'Ohana, we decided we would never be a 1 dog family again because it is too quiet without them, so we waited until 'Ohana was 2 and then got Hau Kea. They are the best of friends and keep each other company. [/COLOR]

Any word on when they'll start you on the hydrotherapy yet?

One other word on the dog adoption V...
when we were looking, we found that no shelters or rescue centers would allow us to adopt a puppy because we had kids under 5. We were uncomforable taking in an older dog because we wouldn't know how it would react to the kids, so we felt we had to go to breeders and get a purebred. Not sure if the laws are the same in Fl, but that is the scoop here in WA.

season premier of House on in 15 minutes.

so glad it's time for new tv

Deb, I'm so glad to see you posting and feeling better. it was quiet when you were MIA.... (well not really missing I guess, huh)

Noel, back to yourself 100% yet? I would think it would take a bit of time to heal completely???
