Cute pictures John! Looks fun!

Pardon my ignorance, but I've never heard of an adoption day celebration. Does that mean she just got adopted or is it sort of like celebrating a birthday every year?

The girls got dressed up for dinner tonight . . .

This is where we ate . . . anyone else been there?

Hey, it was new to me too Holly . . . both girls have been with Amy's sister since they were infants (first as Foster children), they always have been told she is not their birth mother, but is their mom. When the adoption was final on each girl, she celebrates their adoption day with them. I don't know if this is customary, or something Sara made up, but it is a neat thing. Tonight Anna said to us, "I love all of You".

OK, it's late, I need to get to bed . . . I have been getting up at 6:45 every morning because that is when the sun comes up over the rooftops and shines right in my eyes through the blinds. I have been walking 3 miles every morning on the beach too.

Taking the kids to the local aquarium tomorrow too.

If I don't check in again for a few days, have a super weekend everyone!

I have heard of people who celebrate Birthday, Adoption Day and Got-cha Day--the day they actually first held their adopted foreign child and did not have to leave them at the orphanage that night. These friends take the whole family to a restaurant of the nationality of that child. They often try to get restaurant employees to speak the language to the child so they do not lose it entirely. I think one family celebrated Citizenship Day also.

John and Amy - that is fantastic...it must be so nice to have extended family....although, you guys are in that category for me!!

Don't you love the smiles on those faces?

We went to John's ball game tonight...it was the first official "Terry's Plumbing Family Night" (and no, none of them work for Terry's, he just pays to have the team) The game started at 7....not over until 8:45 ==== for softball considering the next game is at 8:15....late! It was 33-32, we won!! Afterwards we had Chang Kabobs, potato salad, chips, watermelon, hot dogs, you name it. I forgot how much I miss going out there.....(keep in mind....from late 1997-Halloween 2002 I was a permanent fixture and was even hired to keep score. I got to see a lot of old friends.....made me realize that I am getting old!

You know that feeling is mutual Vanessa, we have been telling our family about your family too, and what good friends you guys have become. You and John are like family to us too.

How wonderful! Both the celebration and Anna's sweet words are very touching!

Well it looks like we will have a nice day weather wise on Sunday!! Woohoo.

They are still a day behind at Wimbledon though.

John, glad Alex is having a good time in London. I believe the cycle race the Tour de France begins in London today. Bath is a nice town - is he interested in history?

Where does your daughter fancy the most Mandy? Or is she open minded till she sees a few? It makes for a busy few weeks.

Rain!!! It started again about an hour ago - going to rain for a few more days I think. At least it isn't as bad as it was. I really feel sorry for the folks hit by the floods. Unbelievably thee are still homes under water - how awful is that?:sad2:

She really loved Leicester actually Marilyn, and they are the only Uni that actually do the Geology with PaleoBiology course, the others are slightly different. We were very impressed. :) It was a nice size campus too, not too enormous, and all the staff and other students seemed really friendly and enthusiastic. Portsmouth would be nearer of course, but it's not such a good Uni, so we'll see.

Angel, glad you and Becky had a chance to share a good day out together yesterday.....with another coming up next week. Remember to enjoy your time together now because it goes so quickly and soon she will be out on her own moving on. You'll look back on these days fondly....so make the most of them and have lots of fun too!!!!:cheer2: :flower3: :cheer2:

yes, it's nice to still be able to spend some good times together Deb :)

Alex (our son) is having a great time in London, he says it has been an awesome trip. He is going to try and make it to Bath over the weekend. He made friends with a bunch of Canadian kids at the hostel, and I am afraid has gotten used to the lower drinking age . . . (he is 20).

Hope he gets to Bath John, it's a great place :)

Loved all the pix of Sophia and her cousins, they all look so happy!:)

...and the beach & ocean look wonderful!:thumbsup2

Oh I hope so Marilyn...our grass is as high as an elephant's eye almost!:scared1: It's really windy out there today too. I can't beleive it's actually July can you?:confused3

Soon be school hols, which I don't like as it spoils my trips into town and John has to work longer and harder as most of his staff have holidays then!!

Trouble is with wishing that away it gets to September and then we are thinking of Christmas and another year gone! Oh, that's not so bad, we have our Nov/Dec holiday and cruise to enjoy.:rotfl:

I've been worried about Laura(Auntybrat) and was missing her posts, and even pm'd her to no avail. I just read a few of the first posts on this thread and see that she had an Alaskan cruise planned for this period. I hope she is enjoying it and I look forward to seeing her back here.

Yes, he loves history, and seeing things that immerse him in the culture. He has already done the major museums, the Tower of London, and seen three shows too - Spamalot, Avenue Q, and one about Shakespeare that I cannot remember the full name of.

The only thing that has not thrilled him is how expensive everything is - although show tickets he got cheap by buying at the last minute. He and some Canadian friends he made actually got box seats for 20 pounds each.

Morning Kids! Happy Friday!

....and I'm not happy about that....it will make today and Monday (and probably Tuesday) pretty yucky as we will preeempt all our regular programs...and therefore many commercials...for the extended coverage. Lots of shuffling around of advertisers. Oh well, maybe there will be some overtime, I can always use extra cruising money! ;)

Where do you work?

Love the pictures of the girls in their matching outfits John! Adorable.

My lengthy post about packing several pages back was designed to show that mix and match works well and probably every woman can put together a pirate costume by layering items she is bringing anyway.
Now that I think of it, a guy could also--a pair of shorts, sandals, dress shirt half way unbuttoned, pirate bandanna from dinner on pirate night and maybe a piece of rope for a belt or a couple old ties tied together as a sash.

Did he enjoy Avenue Q? It's playing here in San Diego right now and we've been debating going.

Jan, I'll read that out to John and see what he says!!!:lmao: You are very inventive and have got me thinking about what I could do myself. Me, a pirate wench with John, in normal smart trousers and shirt!!! I might get him to put on the bandana if everyone else does though.
