Here's a question for you frequent DCL cruisers....
What time do you HAVE to be off the ship by? If I remember we were at the late seating breakfast and disembarked around 9, does that seem right? So, I guess I am asking, what time is "last call" when they boot you off the ship? And, is the buffet open as well this am or do you have to do the sit down breakfast?

After growing up on flat Long Island....I'm looking forward to retiring in Delaware where the roads are flat and straight also. Living in PA mountains is beautiful, but I have had enough.

Where did you live in upstate NY and PA?

I understand you being tired of the mountains. I am tired of the winter and had hoped God would move us to Florida 5 years ago, but He moved us to Indianapolis 2 1/2 years ago. It IS warmer, but not Florida. But this is the right place to be now.

I was born in Syracuse and grew up in Whitesboro--near Utica--NY. I went to college three years in Troy and two years in Brooklyn--we lived in Kings Park on Long Island and I took the LIRR to and from school and clinicals. Then back near the capital district--lived in Petersburgh, NY for 14 years--7 miles west of the intersection of NY-VT-MA state lines. Finally 9 months across the river from Albany in East Greenbush, NY.

7 1/2 years in Bethlehem, PA then to Indiana.

Ratatouille Someone said there was a special joke in the credits. WE got home from seeing it and I wonder what that person saw. Please PM me so we don's spoil it for others.

They have arrested eight people so far....five of which are Doctors! So hard to believe....how could they harbor so much hate for so many in the world that they don't know or understand....all in the name of their religion??? It's scary and perplexing to me.

We all have to be a little more aware and on guard everyday in everything we do....because you never know where or when the next shoe is going to drop. They tell us just to expect that it will happen.

John and I did our first cruise about two and a half weeks after 911. It was eerie and the security was alongside the boat in every port....in full force. The boat was empty....but we decided that we were still going and that we would have a good time. We met some great people that we're still friends with and have cruised again with....and we got the DCL bug....we were hooked and had to do it again....every opportunity we got.

Remember the song from SOUTH PACIFIC??
"You've got to be taught to hate all the people your relatives hate...you've got to be carefully taught"
They hate because they have been carefully taught to hate those different from themselves.

The part about doctors being involved that spooks me most is that the people who hate us have been assimilated into western culture. They are our friends, neighbors and service providers. How do we protect ourselves from people who hide among us?

HALL OF PRESIDENTS used to have a speech by Abraham Lincoln in which he said that the US cannot be conquered from the outside but will only fall from withing. Well, maybe this is what he meant. People who come here, camoflage their lives to look like us, teach some of our citizens to hate and then attack when the time is right. I wish that speech was still part of the show, it would make people think.

I would think that you have fresh water in your veins, Holly. But I'm not sure what kind of water Lake Michigan has....salty or fresh? I have seen the great lakes from the air in a plane and even I was amazed that I was looking at a lake and not an ocean. What great memories of growing up.

The Great Lakes are all fresh water and the water flows from Lake Superior through Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, Lake Erie, over Niagara Falls, through Lake Ontario and into the St. Lawrence River. Somewhere along the river it becomes tidal so the ocean impacts the height of the water and I imagine it gets salty little by little.

I've been looking at non stop flights from LAX to MCO and there are only AA and Delta. Are there any noticable differences? The Delta one goes a little later in the morning, so would be a better start to the day.

Also, what kind of time prior to these internal flights have you to be there for?

Since John hates flying, we don't do it often....so I'm not the best person to answer this.....but, they say be there two hours in advance....most people get there one hour in advance. Then it depends on the amount of security and the climate at the time. I would imagine today it would take longer to get thru security than a month ago because of current events.

We're renting a car....so will be able to do DL and other area attractions.

Yes, we will be dressing for all the formal nights.....do you know how many of them there are? How many semi-formals? How many other themed nights?

I think we were the last ones off on our last cruise and that was about 9:30ish.

No buffet on last day....only sit down in restaurant.

We lived in Bethlehem, PA for about six years before we moved 30 minutes North to the Poconos and have been here for eight years. I love Bethlehem....Christmas City....it's sooooooo beautiful at that time of the year.

Anybody taking a 5 or 6 year old boy? My DGS is asking. Where is everyone staying before the cruise? I want to stay at DL after the cruise so I am undecided as far as before the cruise.

Hi! Tell your DGS that my DS will be 6 when we sail. His bday is in March.

Before the cruise we're staying at the MCO Hyatt. The AAA rate is $159 and the regular rate is $199. I think there's a lot of us who are staying at the MCO Hyatt because Kaylee booked two hummerzine limos to depart the morning of the cruise from the Hyatt. I think the hummer's hold 40 people but I think they're full already!

Hello and goodnight everybody! Reading all posts, but too tired to reply to any.

Busy day here. Fought a migraine all day today that started sometime in the middle of the night last night. Still pounding strong. After work, took Tyler to buy fireworks, did a bunch in front of our house, went to see the real fireworks, tried to pretend I was having fun despite the jackhammer in my head. It was nice lying on a blanket together watching people do their own fireworks while waiting for dark to come so the real ones would start.

Poor Tyler must have seen the telltale signs of my migraine because although I tried my hardest not to let him see how miserable I was, he kept saying, "Lie down Mom, rest your head" and leaning over to kiss my forehead, giving me his stuffed animal, etc. Before we left for the fireworks he said, "Mom, you lie down for a few minutes and I'll get us packed to go" and he got 2 blankets, folded them, got 2 bottles of water and a bag of pretzels to take for a snack, etc. And to think I was wanting to strangle him just last week!

Happy 4th everybody! Gonna try to get to sleep now while my head is still at a mild pound. Parade tomorrow morning if the weather holds out. Was supposed to start raining this evening, looked quite ominous, but we lucked out. Goodnight!

Happy 4th of July Holly and Tyler.....sounds like a fun and busy time.....sorry for your not feeling well, Holly. You've got to get better drugs from your doctor....I swear muscle relaxers work....I take Norflex.

Isn't Tyler being such a sweet little man.....one day he will grow up and have a big heart.

We might have overlapped in Bethlehem! We moved in August 1994. Did not do Musikfest that year because of moving to Indiana. We lived near the shopping center with Giant, Wel-Mart and Home Depot as the end and middle stores, on Rt 191. Where did you live? Why the move north?

What a sweet fellow! So compassionate and able to do much more than I would have expected to get the party on the road!! I bet those forehead kisses really did help.

DL after the cruise: possibly, but probably won't decide until the last minute

Dressing: Like Mrs. Mork, you'll probably see the same outfit more than once, and I don't have FORMAL formal evening wear, but I will dress nicer than casual on those nights.
