May 10, 2008 Ship of Thieves! Stealing the Magic..AGAIN!!! Panama Canal FL to CA!!! Part 4

Have a great trip! It's funny we live in San diego - beaches everywhere and we've never been. We both love the mountains! (The only beaches I like are at Castaway Cay ). We did go to a beach up in Santa Barbara for a friend's wedding but that's it for California beaches and we've been here 5 years!

Maybe it's because we grew up 10 minutes from the bay and 20 minutes from the ocean. We were fish as kids. Now we go to the carribbean and snorkle.



I haven't watched last night yet but I just don't get the Addison spin-off idea. When I heard about it, I was surprised as I don't really like her character. I would rather see a Bailey spin-off as I love her. Maybe I'm in the minority.

Me too, but I watched it last night and it looks like you could like her more in a different situation. I'm still not going to watch it, though.





My mom was an assistant leader for Juniors (as was my best friend's mom) so that probably made a big difference. In fact mom stayed as an assistant leader with juniors for a year or 2 after I moved up to Cadets.

You're probably right, mom was a big influence in going to scouts and having fun.


Well I guess better go and get ready. Have some errands to run before meeting up with a friend for lunch at Original Roadhouse Grill. (Love the rolls...)

This would be so great, I just don't know what time we will be arriving. DH is already worried that we won't arrive in time. We have to pick up our tickets at will call before 9:00pm. We are driving down from Santa Barbara.

Well the laundry is in and I'm half done packing...just have to throw in the clothes from the laundry when they're done. Then shoes and clothes are finished and I have to do accessories, makeup and bathroom. The part that takes the longest. Thank goodness it's only for three nights. I don't have a lot of energy right now. Need to get rejuvinated by the ocean.

I have just noted the November hours and can start planning ready to make ADR's at the end of the month. I have just ordered the MVMCP tickets for 29th November
Such a shame our paths don't cross when we are there. Our cruise is the 2nd December till the 6th when you replace us!! I'm so excited.

oh oh oh,,,,the November hours are up now? (I was expecting them on Saturday.) We are going to use them as a guideline for our trip, as they will probably be the same...at least up until Christmas. I'm ordering our MVMCP tickets for Tue 12/4 today. We decided to do the Segway tour and are having a large group meal at LeCellier on 12/2...which has me VERY happy, as I've not been there the last couple of trips. We still have to decide WHO will be booking that at the 180 day mark...I vote for an east coast pal to handle that!

OK, back to work and I simply MUST decide where to go to lunch.

Well, tonight I'm having dinner at Olive Garden with a few women from work and my friend Cindy. Tomorrow afternoon Cindy and I are going to go see Spiderman 3. Then later in the day, Tyler and I will be picking up branches in our yard. We also might go to the Detroit Zoo on Sunday, depending on how much yardwork gets done Saturday.

I have to tell you, John's son John, who I call "the kid" asked his dad, "Is there any way I can get on this boat and do this trip too". It must be your influence Holly. We said, sorry, all booked and no we are not sharing our cabin with you. Of course, John told him something may open up in February when it comes time to pay for the cruise. I know he'd have a blast hanging out with you and Cindy. We shall see...

PROBABLY Sat 12/1...4PMish, but if the time share exchange doesn't start till Sunday, we may wait till the 2nd to fly over. We're planning a group dinner Sunday 12/2 at LeCellier with the gang from the double dip (as of right now).

Got my MVMCP tickets this morning too!

Well it may be possible!!! Remember, Pop would be best as it is Pop Warner week from then and I think the don't use POP.

It sounds like you have a great weekend planned, especially the Olive Garden and Spiderman 3 and then there's the Zoo with Tyler...sounds like a perfect way to spend your last weekend of freedom before classes start up again. Have lots of fun!

DGD and I had a good day. It is a little over an hour drive from my house to her dentist so we had some visit/listen to Disney music time. She got one filling today and I scheduled her for 2 more visits. That child has a mouth full of work to be done still and has already had a bunch done. DSIL has always kept medical and dental ins for her (he and her mom divorced) that requires no copay at all! So he and DD thought mom would have been taking her for regular care. Well, about 4 years ago she came for her every other weekend visit and was crying with a tooth ache. DD made an appt with a dentist for her and it seems she had never been to the dentist before! This was 2 years after DD married her daddy. DD was so MAD!! They pay for the insurance so you'd think she could at least use it! DD then made follow up appts and told the mom when they were. DSIL then got bills from Kaiser for NO SHOW charges because mom "forgot" to take her. Finally, a couple of years ago DD just took charge of her dental care and started taking her to them herself, or scheduling them for when her daddy can take her which is Friday. Occassionally he has to work overtime on Friday and at those times I pinch hit and take her. Her mom did sign releases at least so that either DD, DSIL, Dennis or I can take her. It is hard for me to just stay out of it and be nice when we take her home. Her mom has now moved them in with her 5th boyfriend since the divorce. I did talk with DGD on the way home about telling one of us if anyone touches her or makes her feel uncomfortable. Pedifiles are known to build trust with single women to get at their kids and since mom does not seem to have much common sense I worry. Taylor told me she knows she could come to us and would for sure if anyone hurt her.

Sorry for the rambling, I am just frustrated that she is having to have so much work done. She had a root canal last month.

You are being such a wonderful Grandmother to help out and I am sure she will have wonderful memories of all the time you guys spend together. I was closer to my Grandmother than my own mother as my mother was a career women not much interested in raising children so I speak from personal experience. The only one of my siblings she was really close to was the youngest as by the time she was born, she was finally ready to parent.

As for me, I never ever have had a cavity in my life but now am having trouble with my gums and front teeth.

Amy is almost cavity free, but I have a mouthful of work. My parents did not think of dental care or dentaly hygiene when I was a child. My mother was an immigrant that did not think about it, and, as some of you know, my dad was an alcoholic during most of my youth - so there was no one to take me to the dentist.

My brother and sister though (5 years and 7 years younger than me) benefitted from my bad experience, and by the time they were getting to the age of needing dental care, I had started on my own, and my parents then realized the importance.
