I know I posted before I do not watch a lot of TV other than sports or science type shows . . . But there are two shows I do watch, and I just watched on my DVR the latest episode of Heroes . . .

Any other Heroes fans out there?

This Monday's episode was awesome.

Love that show.

I think as long as you don't identify with the child's real name, it's really not an issue. That is why chat boards have always used "usernames", to keep the anonymity of the participants. Very few people who know me online know my real full name. I only tell them it after I have gotten to know them and meet them in person. My children were taught to never go with anyone who didn't know the secret password. Then they knew this person really knew me.

Wow - you parents are so darn clever. It must be scary raising kids nowdays - so many things to worry about - was it different when we were kids - or were we just not "clued in" because we WERE the kids?

Anyway, I'm so sad I'm missing the DL DIS meet - but I'm looking forward to the wine meet, and possibly another AZ meet. CLynne- would you guys be up for coming back this way if SURLEY has to come back for work?

This is all very wise advice . . .

However, stupid me 6 years ago when I got on the DIS and chose a username just used my first initial and last name. Kind of dumb by today's standards, but I really had no idea how hooked I would become to this site, and now just do not want to give up my unsername and the "history" that goes with it.

I'm smarter now and the advice above is good to follow. Although at the same time that anonymity also reduces trust - as you don't know who you really may be communicating with. So for good or ill, I am out there as I am. It was only a year or two ago I took my hometown out of my sig, and just put the general area - I was afraid if anyone knew we were on vacation our house would be broken into!

Bummer.....you have a double whammy at work. :sad2: But hang in there and DIS whenever you can! It's a great release! :yay:

Holly,

Have you always had your tag - and I've missed it all along??

Also, almost forgot, whoever mentioned the "Time Traveler's Wife", I really enjoyed that book. There were some things that at the beginning I thought were a bit "uncomfortable" but as I understood the story I really enjoyed.

The latest audio book I downloaded . . .

"Death by Black Hole" - Non-fiction series of science articles.

Has anyone here been listening to the "DIS Unplugged" podcast? I am enjoying listening to that too, and it gives me a bit of a Disney fix that I can always use.

I hear what you're saying...like I said, I really forget to think sometimes  . So, we'll post on the protected site and if someone wants to post a picture (like a big one of the group) then we'll agree that it has to be OK with everyone first. I still can't believe we have almost 40 people coming...that's so great! I just wanted to make sure my lack of thought didn't make anyone uncomfortable...just smack me in da head!

No worries, Lisa...Sounds like we're the only ones with this 'issue' anyway. (DH would say that I have more than just a couple 'issues'...) Thanks, again, for organizing this. Did you ever find out if it's a private room we're getting?

Carolyn

Do you mean these chips?

OldDutch-PC-DillPickle.jpg

I was actually picturing more of deep fried pickle slices. I have them in North Carolina and they were awesome. Maybe they aren't known as pickle chips everywhere when they are that style.

NOt only does your cat look like the spitting image of my "Miracle" but she's gone through this too! I think it's from scaling the walls here to chase off the other cats!

I wish I could find a photo - you'd be amazed at how much they look alike@! (So beautiful!!!) I pray she heals quickly...:wizard:

I would love to see a picture of her. Sweetie seems to be doing a little better tonight, she is actually trying to walk on that leg - still limping a lot but at least she is willing to try now.

Hope your Sweetie is feeling better. MouseAdventure sounds like fun. Do any teams have children? I can imagine mine "thinking" it would be fun, until the second or third criss-crossing of the park... Thanks for the update!

Carolyn

They have a family division - I think the ages for the kids are 6 - 13. Over 13 can play in the regular basic group. I think you have to be over 18 to play advanced (and a little crazy we think). Kids 5 and under can tag along with an adult team but do not count as members (plus I think they would be bored at that age - and you'd have to keep explaining why you keep passing rides and not going on :thumbsup2 )

The family teams did very well in the trivia section - helps to have someone who has actualy watched the Disney channel on your team. I know we got all of those questions wrong.

Just popping in for a moment. Busy here. My Dad is in the hospital as it appears he picked up an infection when he had his hip replaced last November. He's been on antibiotics which haven't gotten rid of the infection and now they've had to reoperate and redo the hip replacement. They aren't sure how long he'll have to remain in the hospital but hopefully he'll recover quickly although he's going to be on the antibiotics for a few more months.

I have to admit that even as I pay my taxes I'm thankful that we have universal healthcare here in Canada. We do pay high taxes but for that we don't have to worry about the quality of health insurance we have and the cost of it.

There are pros and cons to each system of course but have to admit that I like ours.

Hope everyone is well.

Fiona

Hope your dad is doing better soon!

Having lived in Canada for a year we liked your healthcare system too!

Love Hero's - awesome episode this week - I totally didn't expect the Sylar twist.

I did the opposite - first name last initial. I thought I would lurk on message boards not actually post on them with any frequency.

Awww....how cute! Sweet that you thought of us! :goodvibes You know, there's always tons of pirate stuff in the Oriental Trading catalog, so I showed it all to Tyler, positive that he'd go nuts over it and want to do a pirate party. But he's absolutely set on a camoflage theme this year. Today he informed me that he'd like his cake to be camoflage with Army hummers on top. Next weekend we'll probably go buy all the party goodies.

We did a camo cake one year! (And a football cake one year, and a spiderman cake, and a princess cake, and an Elmo cake, and...well, you get the picture!) Camo's fun and easy...buy grease paint and paint the guys' faces up!

That's a good point. I'm so trusting and naive at times. I'm protective of my kids, etc. and wouldn't let them go with strangers and have discussed the whole stranger danger thing (even someone who doesn't seem like a stranger), but here on this thread, I tend to forget that ANYONE who chooses to, can see what we're up to and what we're writing about.

No, no, I have ISSUES...my friends from my mom's group even gave me a pillow that says "I have issues" (it's a joke of course...well, maybe not :lmao: ).

No, I don't know if it's a private dining room but Javier is supposed to call me back regarding our additional people, so I'll ask him then. I'm not sure if they have a private room large enough for 40 people....that's a small convention! :rotfl:

Finally - another Heroes fan! I don't think I could pay Amy to watch Heroes, and not appropriate for Sophia, so I have to watch when I have the TV all to myself.

It really stinks doesn't it Lisa? I always felt safe here too, but the truth is that nowhere is absolutely safe from the creeps of the world.

Cool! I just feel bad for any little girls coming. Not a fun theme for them.

My DH (Darrell) normally doesn't watch it either - he goes to bed most nights by 9 but this week he was just going to watch a couple of minutes before going to bed and ended up watching the whole thing! :happytv:

DS went to a boot camp birthday party a couple years ago, complete with a real Marine. Anyhow, they lined up on the little yellow feet in formation, marched here and there, worked through a MUDDY obstacle course (very easy and kid oriented...not like the real ones), and told stories by a campfire (ok, not sure that's really boot camp like...but, it was fun!). Part of their goody bag was a dog tag with their name etched on it. Girls went, too, but they were not really GIRLYgirls.

I'd have fun helping with this party! Don't go too nuts shopping for supplies.

Your issues plus my issues...not sure the boat's big enough for all of our issues!:)

Just wondering about the room, because last year with our much smaller group (think it was 10), we had to wait (even with a reservation) until they freed up enough tables. Just a wonderin'....

Because it has absolutely no relationship to reality - Amy has no interest, and my guess is she would just think it is "weird". On one of our early dates we went to see the first Batman movie with Michael Keaton - I was enthralled. She went to the bathroom after about 20 minutes and never came back! I never went to the lobby to check on her because I did not want to miss any of the movie, and that about says it all about our tastes in entertainment. I found her in the lobby after the movie - she hated it!

Night everyone.

Time for bed.
