We did the big Surprise party with friends when he turned 40. I think that what he would like to do the best is go fishing in either Alaska or Cabo. I hope to be able to afford to send him to one of those places by August (he is also an August b-day, the 17th.):woohoo:

I know that he would love to be with DD and I, but I think that he would have a really good time with his guy friends as well. Another good plan would be to take him to the "French Laundry" in Yourntville (near Napa). This is one of the TOP restaurants, Thomas Keller's place. It is very pricey. $150.00 for lunch, per person, not including wine!! But I think that he would really enjoy it!:thumbsup2

Not asleep yet, but on my way soon!:cloud9:

Have a lovely Saturday. We'll be at the shop all day, it is the Mardi Gras Parade in Benicia, now called the Gold and Gumbo parade because they hold it in April, when the weather is better, instead of in February.:rolleyes1

Hope you had a lot of fun at the Gold and Gumbo parade...sounds festive!

Should be lot's of fun and I will have DD and her friend hand out flyers for the new shop's Grand Opening in May!

Hope they hand out lots of flyers and you get hundreds of new customers. Any date set yet for the May Grand Opening?

Karen

:woohoo:

That is a lot of fun!! So what are you wearing?

:rolleyes1

Sounds like lots of fun for your family this weekend! :goodvibes Is the inflatible place called Crazy Bounce by chance? If so, we went to one a couple of months ago and had an absolute blast! It's stuff even the adults get to play on too.....SUPER fun! Trying to plan a time to go again soon because the closest one is almost 2 hours from us.

Fun Fortress

There is also another one not too far away called "Pump it Up"

Thanks for the compliment. We had a lovely evening with her last night. She is so grown up now that it makes my DH sad that his "baby Sam" doesn't need him as much anymore.

Noel

Sam needs her daddy just as much, if not more, except in different ways. There's nothing like the bonding between a daddy and his little girl...I see it in John's eyes everytime Sandi walks into a room and she's 35 with two teenagers. She always needs her daddy and no matter what she wants, he is always there for his little girl.
:cutie:

What a lovely compliment!! We are very excited and yet sad at the same time if you know what I mean. She is addressing her graduation announcements as I type. Another milestone...

Noel

....It just means that new adventures are on the way...It'll be different, onto the next phase, but it'll be exciting and wonderful all the same.

Absolutely!! She has spent the day helping her dad proofread a 100 page contract!! I have hardly seen either one of them.

I agree. My older DD just called. She and her family are coming down to spend the day with us tomorrow as SIL is practicing for his annual HS alumni softball game. Can't wait to see the GK's!!

Between 1946 and 1964, the United States experienced an exceptionally high rate of birth that we have since come to call the Baby Boom. In part because of their sheer numbers, the generation born during this period have had a profound impact on society and the economy throughout all the stages of their lives.

Well you learn something new everyday. I always thought I was the tail end of the baby boomers....but I'm not (1956) and I always thought that DH was the beginning of the boomers...but he's not (1951). We're both actually in the middle. How about that! Who knew!

Thanks Noel!

We use to rent those kind of jumps to come to the house for birthday parties for the kids.

:surfweb:

The new business model is where they take these abondoned businesses or warehouses and paint them in bright colors and make an indoor playground with those big inflatibles. We have been to several Birthday parties at these places in the past couple of years. We have another one next week at Pump it Up.

We had a great time! We went out for dinner, we each had one drink, then came home and talked and laughed until 1:30am. Then we got up at 8am and talked and laughed until almost 2pm, went out for a late lunch, and she headed home right afterwards. She's a much happier person with the soon-to-be-ex out of the house. :thumbsup2

Holly, I'm so glad for you and Shelly...carefree, happy, close, hysterically funny and much love is what I gather you both shared this weekend. It's all good! What a great time!:goodvibes

Yup, Shelly's the one. When I told her and her husband about me and my friend Cindy going on this cruise, her husband told me to take her with us because she really needs a break. But she just can't afford it. Even if I helped her out with the cost, she can't afford to miss that much work. :sad1: Maybe some other time, another cruise.

Sorry to hear that, I would have loved to meet her...like you said, maybe on another cruise.;)

How many GKs and what are their ages...girls or boys....what are their names...any pics? We'd love for you to share.:cool1:

Thanks for the info. I love hearing about all these traditions, and I had a feeling it was something much more common in communities with a large Hispanic population. We have just a small Hispanic community here, which is growing slowly.

John...hope you had a great time tonight!

We are home rather early:confused3 Perla (the birthday girl) was sooooo sick:sad2: She ended up vomitting 3x during the mass and then went home to sleep for a while. She showed up at the party at 615, made her entrance...spent a few moments in the bathroom and after the official gift ceremony went back home to sleep. It was heartbreaking to me. Here is a moment she has waited forever for and she couldn't enjoy it. She looked beautiful but so sick. I ran to my office and got her some homeopathics to try and help, but left after I gave them to her. Hopefully she will be able to go back in a while and at least dance with her friends.

As a side note, at one point, I did the panic, "I've lost my youngest child search" I found her outside with Perla and her mom. DD was walking behind Perla holding up her dress so it wouldn't get dirty because "it was so beautiful!" I thought that was so sweet. They were walking hoping the fresh air would make her feel better.

We had a very nice time. Sophia enjoyed the indoor inflatible place, and we then went to her Godparents for that party. The pink iPod shuffle for the 12 year old girl was a big hit.

Unfortunately though, Amy is coming down with some kind of cold, and did not feel the greatest all night.

How very sad such as special day was ruined by her feeling ill. Hopefully, she will feel better before the end of the evening!!
