That sounds heavenly. :cloud9: I need a flight like that! Did it make it hard to fly "regular" airlines again?!

After flying first class for many years, you can not even compare the first class of the 1960's through middle 80's to first class now on most airlines. I have tons of miles so I always upgrade my coach tickets to first class. Since I fly either United or Southwest, I go from cattle call to free drinks.

It's almost 1:30am here...a little late....but I took a nap earlier in the evening. So I'm good to go for a little while longer.

Such great news for you today....It was all that positive PD!:wizard:

Pixie Dust works wonders! The bank has decided to basically run the 2nd at auction every week until June 29:scared1: In forclosure auctions, if the 1st goes to auction, the 2nd just disappears. The same bank owns both and they don't want to lose the 150,000 they have out there in the 2nd so they will just keep trying. We know most people who go to these auctions and they have all told us they won't bid on it. They know we want this one as a residence and not a "flip" house. So, just a few more months and we will finally have an answer one way or another....I am hoping for the best answer....we got the house!

We upgrade as often as we can, but it doesn't always happen:sad2: Crazy that my girls whine (at the ages of 8 & 5) when they hear we aren't flying first class. DH just left for Georgia tonight and called to tell me he was smushed in coach between 2 large guys (on a red eye!). Glad it's not me:lmao:

Time passes so quickly, your day is right around the corner and I believe if it's meant to be it will happen because I always believe that things happen for a reason....I LOVE John Lennon and to quote him in one of my favorite songs...."Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans." It's always so true. You have to make plans, but the eventual outcome is always way better than you imagined.

Kaylee, I drink their White Star champagne, it's my favorite...at least until Karen introduces me to something better at our champagne girls tasting.;) :goodvibes

We had fun tonight just ordering glasses of different wines. We usually get a bottle or so, but for some reason we decided to sample different kinds. Oh, there were some good ones. The wine list here was amazing:goodvibes I can't wait to go to the wine tastings on the cruise! And of course, our Champagne Girls event (or events?!)

Classes start May 7th. I was turned down for every type of loan, every place I tried, and had just resigned myself to the fact that my only option would be to take another semester off, work more, cancel the November cruise with Tyler, and save money to be able to return to school. Then something strange happened. I received a letter in the mail a few days ago from the lender where my Federal student loans come from, telling me that my loan has been processed and will be disbursed 4/26/07 and 9/6/07. HUH?! :confused3 I was very confused, but decided I should trust that letter because they make the decision, since they're the ones giving me the money, not the school. But I was still hesitant to get my hopes up. Then 2 days later, I received a letter from school telling me basically the same thing, and the info is also showing up on my account online at school. I have no idea what happened. I'm ticked off about the stress school put me through, worrying about how to come up with that much money, etc., but my relief definitely outweighs my irritation. I've heard other students talk about how they've also had similar experiences where it seems different people at school will give different answers and nobody really seems to know what's going on.

But for whatever reason, it worked out! :thumbsup2

Sounds like someone is looking after you....

You will appreciate this story. The first time we flew Southwest with youngest DD, she turned to me and said, why are we going to the back of the plane?

As for smooshed, when my DH's father passed away suddenly, we had to catch a flight to Ohio. We were able to get great seats going to Ohio but on the way home we had to fly from Cleveland to Chicago to make a connection.
I was stuck in between two very large Mafia looking men who had the arm rests up. I could not even get more than my bottom cheek on the seat and could not even buckle the seat belt. They were so threatening looking that the flight attendent didn't even hassle me about not buckling my seat belt. Luckily, it was only a half hour flight!!

Pixie Dust request for tomorrow.......(sorry it is a bit long)

DH is a real estate investor (when he isn't being the full time Dad)...we have been looking for a good house to move to but one that is in DD's home school area. She is actually on a waiver right now and there is a good chance that DD2 (starting K in fall) won't get in unless we get into that area because the school is so full. We have fallen in love with a house that was on the market in 9/06. We placed several offers but always got a no from the owners. The house has since gone into foreclosure (it is a disaster now...no fixtures, no toilets, walls half painted etc) and we tried to get them to sell it to us again, but still no luck. We have been dealing with this for 6 months now. Well, tomorrow the 2nd loan goes up for auction. We don't want to buy it because the cost for the 2nd and the 1st are more than the house is worth, but we hope no one else will buy it either. Ok, that was a really long story to explain that we need lots of good thoughts and pixie dust tomorrow that no one bids on the 2nd. If that is the case, then when the 1st comes up for auction on June 29, we can bid there and hopefully get the house:woohoo: ! If someone does get it tomorrow, we know it wasn't meant to be but I will be so :sad2: I must say this whole thing has been so exhausting. The owners of this house had 4 houses and the other 3 have all gone through foreclosure over the last 6 months! Why they wouldn't save themselves another one and just sell it to us for a reasonable price I have no idea.

Thanks everyone......

Sounds like a great flight:scared1:
I remember flying once when I was 7 or 8. My mom put me on the plane and I was flying down to Sarasota to see my grandmother and (of course) go to WDW. Somehow I got placed in a middle seat in the smoking section :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: Remember when they used to allow smoking on planes?? Ugh, I thought I might never be able to breathe again. It was one of the worst flights ever.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE wine tastings, but I have NEVER been to a champagne tasting....and that's my all time favorite drink! It's going to be so much fun...:rotfl:

Right now it's a champagne girls event, but we have lots of sea days, so if we have that much fun, maybe we should consider more than one event? The second one can include the lost beer boys along with the champagne girls and we can really have some fun...

ah foreclosures.....I worked with a hard money lender/broker for a few years learned all about 'em & bankruptcy, very interesting from the lender side. As for the market here in Bay Area, specially Santa Clara County, can't make money on a foreclosure anymore. Used to be able to get some really good deals...

Good example of the kind of #$%$ I am talking about. Most college kids just take it I think, and then Universities don't like it when parents get involved, and say we are not letting out kids grow up. I went through some of this with Alex at YSU - I am happy to let Alex grow up, but I won't stand for the BS when I am paying what I am to send him through school. The cost of school keeps going up, but the BS seems to grow with the cost!

I figured that part of the knowledge we gain in college is learning how to get thru a large system (i.e. the University itself) I'm glad I learned the hardway...on my own as it has made me a person that can be very persitent when necessary.

Yes, that is where I found it. Unfortunately we don't have a Nordstrom's but I did find one in a mall I like. That will just give me an excuse to go there. There is also one in The Grove and I have not been there yet. My DD wants to do The American Girl store there so I may just do that this summer.:goodvibes

AG did someone say AG???? We're on it!!! I was thinking, hmmmm seems like it might be time for an AG girls weekend soon.

I absolutely love the Grove!! We always stop by when we are in LA as it is right behind the Farmers Market.

When I was growing up in Los Angeles (born in Pasadena) my grandparents would take me every Saturday to the Farmers Market to Tusquellas which was then a Butcher Shop and not Seafood. My grandmother would get her meat and produce for the week, then we three would have lunch. We would visit the German deli for fresh saurkraut and brautwurst. I loved watching the cake decorating. Sure takes me back to the 50's.

okay Noel, we truely have sprung from the same places...My parents are both from Pasadena. Mu Aunt & Uncle still live there. Great little city.

My DH's dad (who passed away when he was 18) is from England. He was orphaned at age 12, his aunt & uncle brought him up. I have his aunt's diamond as my wedding ring. He went to boarding school in Devonshire. When DH went to law school, I insisted he sign up for one of those study abroad programs. We fly into Athens, took a 14-day cruise around the Holy Land, ended in Rome and then spent 6 weeks taking the train up to England where he studied at Oxford for 3 months. All before kids. I have the best memories of taking day trips, week-end trips. all over England, Wales, and Scotland. Have never made it to Ireland yet. Since then, we have gone back a few times to visit our "old haunts." Just love it. My latest dream is to take First class on Virgin over - that looks like it would be so wonderful!
Lisa

Lisa, I think I missed that your DH was an attorney...Paul, my DH also studied at Oxford Law (& undergrad too) when were you guys there? I think Paul was there sometime around '90. I'll ask him for sure. What kind of law does your DH practice?

Diamonds...a girls best friend...:cloud9:

We have made some money on "flipping" foreclosures and gotten burned on some. Right now, the market here is the Seattle area is pretty low, so it is not the right time to try and flip.

AG.....I would love to do a girl's weekend, but alas, it is too far away:sad2: I think I might actually have to revive my girls after they get over the initial shock of walking into an AG store. I took pictures of the one in NYC but they really have no idea how amazing it is.

What a nightmare!!! We don't fly often enough to have horror stories. DH DEPLORES flying...it's a control issue, he wants to be at the wheel....so he actually gets white knuckled and loses his cookies, etc., so we mostly drive...up and down the east coast heading to WDW and DCL.DH drives from Poconos in PA to Jacksonville, FL in 12 to 14 hours. We leave around midnight and check into a hotel in Jacksonville at 3pm. We usually go to Cocoa Beach next, then DCL, then World, then home.

This cruise will be very different coz we're flying home from LA. DH is gonna need drugs!  :headache:

Wow, I have been a bit chatty tonight:scared1: :lmao: Yup, DH is gone on business and I get to DIS without the "are you REALLY on the boards again?!" look:lmao:
But, if I have any hope of making it to the gym tomorrow at 8 and then shopping all day:cool1: I had better head to bed.

Good night all

We've been to the store in Chicago and LA,both awesome events. A friend went to NY(and the other 2) and said it was small compared to the other 2, but....I have a fantasy about going to NYC store too. Next year they are opening boutiques in Dallas and Atlanta.

bedtime for me too. I was out tonight at a memorial service for a dear friend's father. Hard to believe just a bit over a year ago she was comforting me about my dad's passing and now it was my turn to offer comfort.

the dog is calling me to let her out, so I guess that means good night....

We had this at a friend's house the other night and it was VERY yummy. The hostess (who happens to be my best friend from high school....25 years) liked it so much she kept the decorative box it came in so she could get more!
