You have just lit up my dayWe are also racing nuts here. Formula One mostly. But other kinds too (not really into NASCAR)
We like all open wheel racing. We do watch nascar, but not in a must see sort of way. The rest of my family is. Each member has their favorite. We have always been big Andretti fans.
We have enjoyed the SJ Grand Prix for the last 2 years by renting a suite at the Fairmont.
More racing update!!! Wilson came in 4th today out of his pack of 11. The best of Calif and the best time at this track where also racing (I'm sure they were 1 & 2) I expect a good story tonight. This is his 2nd year go-karting. First year everyone wins. 2nd year it's for the win.
My nephew also races gocarts as does his dad, my DBIL. I think this is the first year that they have been doing so. We have attended his first two races. I think the club he races with race once a month.
We'll have to look into the Champ race in Las Vegas, what weekend is it?QUOTE]
It is the first weekend in April. The 6th-8th. It is being run on a street course in downtown vegas. I made my hotel reservations about 10 months ago and got a really great rate right downtown. Should be fun. The CHAMP cars had a test session at Laguna Seca last weekend that we wanted to attend, but alas it was a gorcart race day and DH had promised to help my DBIL out. DBIL also helps another young fellow with his car as well so I think DH will be helping out once a month now.
If you decide to go please let me know so we can have a really mini dismeet.
But do you have a spreadsheet?![]()

What club are they in? Santa Barbara is a hop skip and jump from us as far as a race weekend. Wilson is in the Kinsman club, at Dixon.

DH asked me if I wanted to go to see them at Laguna Seca last weekend, but alas those darn cookie booths kept us home. next time maybe.
I asked him about Vegas and he said he's happy enough with our race in our own backyard no mini meet there. Now if I offered him a weekend to see F1 that would be another story.
just got back from dinner and watching AR, okay I should know better than to read the AR post...but glad not to have to stress for elimination rounds.
None of you should feel bad about not teaching your own kids things. It is very hard to do. I was a manager at a swim school for years. I have taught thousands of kids how to swim. Do you think I taught my own?Heck NO! Took them to other instructors at the swim school.![]()
My birthday is New Year's Day and I've always hated it. Although my parents made a point of not giving me a joint Christmas/birthday present, it always seemed like the birthday present was just one they kept over for a week. Then 51 weeks with nothing while my siblings and kids at school had birthdays to look forward to. As an adult, everyone celebrates New Year's Eve so even going out for a meal on my birthday is either impossible or unsuccessful. And even my family seem incapable of grasping that no mail will be delivered on my birthday (UK public holiday) so cards are generally late, if they arrive at all.![]()
When I got married my DH suggested I swapped my birthday to a date in the summer. But my mother was horrified so I didn't do it, and after she died I decided it was too late to bother.
It's reassuring to see that some of you have had similar experiences. My DH can't understand why I get depressed about it, when it's been the same for so long now, why I can't just accept it. And I don't know either - any psychiatrists out there that could explain it to me?!![]()
Welcome back!I'm back from Cali, did I miss anything?had fun, DL was very nifty, why didn't they put a matterhorn in WDW?
and waiting for me at home--2 new puppies!! rat terriers to be exact. 2 boys, Hook and Tuck. I'll post pics as soon as I can get the little buggers to sit still. You were right Laura, I do need doggie ritalin!
as for the amazing race- I was bummed to see Romber go. Now I'm rooting for the BQ (so an all girl team can finally win) or Danny & Oswald (they crack me up!)
anything new I have to sign up for?
Yup, he's his normal self. Whatever was going on is done with. I'm sort of leaning towards constipation, especially after a few questions I asked Tyler.
His dad, his dad's wife, and I all get along really well. She's been a part of Tyler's life since he was a baby, so he just thinks of her as another parent. It's clear how much he loves her, just as he does his dad and I, and she has made it clear to me many times that she wants me to let her know if I ever think she's overstepping any boundaries. In fact, I even went to their wedding last September. People think it's strange, but we all think there's no reason for us not to get along because we want Tyler to grow up as stable as possible in a split home. After all, he didn't ask to be put in this situation, so we feel we owe it to him to make it as easy as possible for him. I get along well with his dad's family, and even Sheilah's family. And both of their families have even met some of my family. Everybody knows everybody and gets along, so far. He's one lucky little boy to have so many people who love him!![]()
I wish more people would put kids first too.Holly,
You and your ex are the bomb!! I wish that more people would put aside the fact that they weren't ment to be and get along and just put the kids ahead of everything!!![]()
Life is too short for all of the bickering, and kids come first... always...PERIOD!!
Karen, getting off the soapbox again!!!
Do you think that I can get away with that as well. My birthday is in the forgotten month... December!!![]()

You know, most of the other women here, probably have NO idea what you're talking about! Including me. Are you still talking basketball? Our few men here (is it 3?) need to come back so you'll have somebody to talk to about the game!Sorry!

I quickly discovered that I'm the minority in that aspect. I now think I'm the only one who doesn't have a particular sports interest. Oh well! I'll stick with bingo anyway!Actually, I love sports!! Just not a huge college basketball or football fan.![]()
We watched Nascar today, Atlanta Motorspeedway!! Woo hoo!!![]()
I also love football and baseball. We have season tickets to the Oakland A's that we share with a group, but part of our group bowed out, so we have extra tickets if anyone in the area wants any!!![]()

Chuckee Cheese is where I will go when I die if it is decided I should go to H***. I have to medicate with strong headache relief an hour before I go to that place.
It's not the kids - after all, I love Disney, it's all the noise and confusion!
My eye starts twitching when I drive by that place!
I'd say the Jungle is a very fitting name for one of those crazy kids' places like that! Kids bouncing all over the place like monkeys!I'm right there with you!!![]()
We also have a place called the Jungle that makes me feel the same way!!![]()
