Just in case you guys are curious about how "cheeky" our friends on the EB can be! :rolleyes1

Maybe if we started singing 100 bottle of beer song over and over again as they do, it would get our count up....but then again we have some more important things to say! Shall I go over and post that!! :rotfl:

Oh, I am having some fun . . .

Boy, their thread moves sloooooooooow. Now it's on 6892. And not too many banners in their siggies. Maybe they need better leadership?:rotfl2:
Some newbie to the thread commented that there was too much to catch up on. Good thing he/she is going West and not East!:rotfl2:

Just checked their thread, they are at 6892. Looking back it takes them over a day to do 100 posts. So tomorrow morning we all go over to that thread and show them some fluff and snatch their pirate.

Excuse me mate, did someone say "fluff"?

We've got plenty of our own, thank ye . . .

I'll try to remember to leave some on the ship for ye . . .:rotfl2:

That is the logo for a new MAC/Windows compatible DVC manager/planner Ian is doing Alpha testing right now with a group of about thirty poeple.

Last April I asked it there was a MAC DVC manager like Caskbill's, the answer was no, just an online planner and a separate excel based spreadsheet. But one of the DISer, Ian who will be cruising with us, has taken up the call and has developed Mouse Manager, he calls me the Mother of Mouse Manager, lol. There are posts about it in the DVC section.

Here is the original thread that got it all started, http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1073612

I'll have to go and check that out!

Ok, I don't have an ipod. Doubt I would use it if I had one, I am still a fan of my xm and good ol' radio and cd's!!

My DH and I have very eclectic taste as well. In my disk changer in the car I have:

1. The new Nora Jones CD
2. Evanescence
3. Michael Buble
4. Santana - Shaman
5. Il Divo - Ancora
6. A mixed CD by my DD, with everything from Justin Timberlake to the Backyardigans... her taste is equally eclectic!!

Karen

John,

I'm sure that you are almost ready to get back up as it is 1:20 here in California, but... how do you keep posts out of your email. My DH is complaining (now that he got me hooked on DISing) that all of the replies come into his email box.

Karen

Open one of the replies, and there is a link (about 1/2 way down) to UNSUBCRIBE to that thread. I do that immediately after I post and get an email on that thread.

Bodega Bay

Ok, have awoken from my "blond moment day" (I really am a natural blond, so I can say this!!! A few white hairs have made their way into my coif lately... not ready to be white headed yet!!)

Anyhoo... I forgot that since our home in Bodega Bay is rented out, we have a web site that let's you see both the house and the view!!

Here is the URL:
http://www.vacationrentalsusa.com/PAGES/Homespages/BHHomes/memory_maker/memory_maker.html

There are two photos that are not our home in this...

Third row far left and second to last row in the middle. You can also see more of Bodega Bay by clicking on "home" at the bottom and then "activities" and then "activities links"

Sorry to have lost my mind for a bit there...

Karen

Gorgeous! I am beyond jealous!

Would you dress like a Disney princess for your wedding?

Just what you always wanted for your wedding day: to be a princess. Thanks to a new initiative from Disney, that dream could become a reality. The company has recently introduced a series of dresses fashioned after their fictional cartoon heroines.

Anyone else hear anything about this? It was a blip on aol's top headlines this am. There weren't any pictures. I would love to see what they are coming up with!

I did read about this earlier today on miceage.com. I just Googled to see if I could find any pictures, but no luck.

However, I did find this link on one of the fashion webistes:
"Jacket for sleeping on public transportation"
http://www.styledash.com/2007/03/04/jacket-for-sleeping-on-public-transportation/

This might be something the folks taking the red-eye flights would want to look into. :)

For me, my days of taking red-eyes are over. It takes me at least 2 days to recover. I'll be coming in to FL at least one day early to adjust to the 3 hour time change!:scared1:

PS: I was once on a diving trip where a man in the group wore a cervical collar on the plane so he could sleep!

Somehow I forgot to answer the ipod and pet questions: No ipod for me (wouldn't even know how to use one or put music on it) because I just don't listen to stuff much. As far as other electronic gadgets, just one laptop, 1 Lexmark printer that I barely use, Kodak easyshare digital camera, and a really old video camera that I barely use anymore. No pets for me. We're just not home enough.

OK, so I have over 400 days to convert you all to the digital age . . . two of our friends on our last cruise were just like this . . . we got them both iPods and converted them.

Before my iPod, I had almost forgotten what a pleasure it was to listen to music I loved. I just never took the time to pop a cd in. Now I can listen to my entire music collection whenever I want to. Not to mention podcasts I subscribe to, and audio books (I belong to audible.com, and get a new audio book each month). I cannot tell you what joy my iPod can bring me!

Here's a list of our furry children:
  • BEAR - is a 6 year old corgi / golden retriever (?collie?sheltie?) mix. We found him on Petfinders.com at a little no-kill shelter up north. We were one week away from buying a pure breed corgi when we found Bear. Lucky for us and lucky for him. I've got lots and lots of Bear stories (like all his brothers and sisters had different fathers) but I've got lots of time left before the cruise to bore you with those stories.
  • A.J. - our indestructible 16 year old cat. He's the Keith Richards of the cat world. He cannot be killed by conventional means.
  • MINNIE - our newly adopted 3 year old cat. She would be extremely miffed if she found out she was named for a mouse. But she was so skinny when we adopted her (we found out later she had worms) that Skinny-Minnie just fit her nicely. She has gained at least 2 pounds she we got her on New Year's weekend.

Here's a picture of me and Bear at the dog park yesterday.
snowpic.gif

0 degree wind chill!

Cool! Love the photo!

As it has gone on of course I see it is meant to be set in Washington and there are loads of US accents. Farrah Fawcett is in it.

OK . . . I have always wondered, what exactly IS a US accent? :rotfl2:

Well, here I am again, perfect timing and all by myself . . .

Question for today . . . How many of you have pets, and what kind?

We have a dog (Labradoodle - 1/2 lab and 1/2 poodle, chocolate colored), four tropical fish, and two hermit crabs.

We have two cats, Pirate and William (as in Turner). My kids named them. I have no idea why they didn't name one of them Jack. We have recently discovered DS6 is allergic to the cats, but we're not getting rid of them just yet. He's allergic to all manner of other things anyway, which his daily dose of Zyrtec seems to be taking care of, so far.

I copied from the EB Thread:

Some newbie to the thread commented that there was too much to catch up on. Good thing he/she is going West and not East!

Oh no, they did not! They can make fun of us all they want, but don't dis our DIS Leaders. They are the best. :thumbsup2

Besides babysitting, my earliest summer job was at an ice cream parlor. That was back when I could actually eat the stuff and not gain an ounce. Then I worked for a couple of years (during high school) in the kitchen of the local hospital. I did some food prep, served meals, and did lots and lots of dishes. Maybe that's why I hate washing dishes now. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I actually liked that job, though, because it paid slightly more than minimum wage, so I thought I was rich.

Stephen was in church this morning. When I hugged him his dad said he was VERY Brave....and then Stephen looked up at me and said "No Way, I was NOT Brave"..it was funny.

They stitched up his leg and then he did have to start the shots for rabies. He has to have 5 shots over the next 14 days. The shots are now in the arm and not in the stomach. They have not found the raccoon.

Poor little guy! He might not think he's brave, but he seems to be a tough little cookie.

Would you wear Disney on your wedding day?

Anyone else hear anything about this? It was a blip on aol's top headlines this am. There weren't any pictures. I would love to see what they are coming up with!

I wanna see too! Even without seeing, I'm sure I'd wear it too!

What kid wouldn't love working in an ice cream shop! YUM!!! Lucky you!

Another question to see how geeky you all may be . . . How many of you have iPods, and how many in your family?

Between the four of us, we have SEVEN iPods! Four video iPods (one each) a shuffle, a nano, and a non-video iPod. I am a Mac AND iPod Geek.

(Apple TV is on order too)

No pods, but I do have a walkman. :lmao: In my defense, I drive a Eurovan. it doesn't have a cd player.

We have a 14 year old Minature Schnauzer and a parakeet.

A bit late John, but my 10 'shuffle songs' are:

1. Why? - Annie Lennox
2. He's the Greatest Dancer - Sister Sledge
3. Mr Brightside - The Killers
4. C30 C60 C90 Go - Bow Wow Wow
5. Sunflower - Paul Weller
6. You're Gonna Lose us - Cribs
7. Grease - Frankie Valli
8. House of Jealous Lovers - The Rapture
9. What I WAnt - Chris Daughtry
10. You're all I Have - Snow Patrol

...an eclectic mix!:cheer2:

Hi all,
I'm still here, reading and reading but then too tired to post ;) I've been working a lot of overtime, have to pay for my DD's wedding in May and then this cruise! I was reading the posts about the trips some of you have had to the spa or the Californian vineyards , and am very envious! So today, after work, I went to the Vintages section at the LCBO store near work and purchased a few bottles of wine highlighted in the latest Vintages magazine. Thought I'd have the house to myself for the day so opened up 3 bottles of wine, poured a little in 3 glasses and got a plate ready with bread, crackers and cheese. Thought I'd have my own private little wine and cheese tasting :cloud9: I did have a moment when I thought how funny this would look if any one stopped in, like my parents :scared1: (I'm almost 50, can you believe I still worry about that!) Anyway, a few sips in and sure enough my DD and her fiance stop in :rotfl: So I had to explain it was just a wine TASTING, really, I wasn't going to polish off all 3 bottles  Had to get out my Vintages magazine to prove it really was a planned little occasion LOL. Well at least my DD joined in and her fiance??? Well , not sure, but I think he believed me ! By the way, I still can't decide which I like best!

My first job was at Smiling Hill Farm Ice Cream Shop. They had homemade ice cream...it was wonderful.

I have a video ipod and I love it. I know a lot of you said you just listen to your cd's. I was that way for a while, but now that I have my ipod I don't know what I did without it. It's so great. I put tv shows on it and I can watch it on the plane.

OK....to give John1 a break from coming up with a new topic, what was everybody's first job and at what age?

Me: Age 14 (1984) -- worked in the cafeteria of a tiny college serving meals to the students. It was called Nazereth College, was primarily a nursing school, and was only a mile down the road from my mom's house so I walked. It had one main building for classrooms and the cafeteria, and one dorm wing attached. Another part of my job was to serve at banquets they also held there on weekends, then clean up afterwards and do dishes.

Yeah, really exciting....I know. Just another topic starter! :thumbsup2

I was 15 and worked at Schaumburg Township Public Library as a shelving page.

HI all..just checking in too. I received my fish extended. It's beautiful. Now I have to decorate the pockets. I need to pm the fish extender group to get in on the fun.
I have one cat. Her name is madison, she's all white and not friendly. Except late at night when I want to go to sleep. My brother brought her home cause his GF at the time wanted to get rid of her.

I have been reading but not posting. I got that terrible cold that was going around, I saw a bunch of people here were sick too. It knocked me flat on my butt for about 6 days! Still have residual.

I'm happy to see that some of you have picked up the med cruise. Please post info when you get back. Let us know how it was! I am leaving on the 13th of june for my med. Thats what I have been working on instead of posting here.

Hope all is well with everyone. We're still in, but probably will just lurk until we get closer!

My friend got to go home today - her clots lessen down by 90% after the two procedures. She asked that I come over and give her the Lovenox shot (I'm a nurse). It was nice to see her at home. Thanks for all your prayers - it was a bit scary with her in ICU on basically stroke watch. Glad she got through it. :goodvibes
Lisa

really glad she's able to go home :)

This is a great one! Is it in any way related to "mad as a wet hen"?

lol:rotfl: no idea but sounds like it may be!!!;)

I absolutely LOVE the phrases you use!

we aim to please John!:goodvibes I suppose they do sound really funny when I think about them!:rotfl:

Well, here I am again, perfect timing and all by myself . . .

Question for today . . . How many of you have pets, and what kind?

we have 2 cats, both from the rescue centre. One is a big tabby & white called Bob, and the other is a little tabby girl called Lilly. Lilly rules Bob as a woman should do of course....;)

Just wanted to let everyone know that I am able to get a little bit more excited about this cruise now. I haven't posted much, let alone tried to read all of the posts, LOL, but things are looking better. Our school system just released the school calendar for next year and if there are no days that have to be made up due to weather, etc., last scheduled day is May 15th!!!:cool1:
This means our girls will only miss the last (4) days of school!:thumbsup2

I'll just have them clean out their desk a little early..........if they start to get whiney about missing all of the fun I'll just remind them of how much more fun they will be having on the cruise. What better way to celebrate the end of the school year, albeit a few days early, than a Disney cruise.:cool1:

Now we just have to work on DD13's softball coach and DH's boss for the time off. He has never requested more than 8 days off before. He has been with the company for 17 yrs, and has the most seniority, I hope that works in his favor.

Just pm'd disneycruising to sign my two oldest DD13 and DD11 up for the kids chat group and pm'd calmom to sign up for a fish group. Hope to be a little more active now that I don't have to worry about the school calendar.

I finally feel like I am really going!:yay:

glad you can get into the fun now!

Sorry to hear things didn't work out for Becky. It would have been such a great opportunity. She must be really bummed out. I'd be ticked off too if I were you! Lousy bureaucracy!

Thanks Holly, she's still really unhappy about it. :(

Well apart from babysitting which I did loads of as my Mum ran a nursery for some years, my first job was in a little cafe by our local seafront. I sold candyfloss and ice creams etc and it was really good fun!
