Where is he going to Med school? My niece (like my own child) just graduated from Georgetown MED. She is a first year Doctor at Fairfax Hospital.....called today to complain that she has to say at the hospital all night...and will miss a big party. Guess they never change!!

My first computer used PUNCHCARDS!!

My mother plotted apogees and perigees at JPL with computers. I remember her typing on teletypes.

She would load a program and if it would "crash" she would just reload.

Unless Kim gets upgraded to a suite, then she might let you stow your peartree there. :lmao: :lmao:

You know I will. Mostly because I figure at this point, the only reason I will get upgraded is through the prayers of saints. good thing you guys are!

I am the oldest of five girls, no brothers. Each of us has had at least one boy, one sister two boys. My DS has three boys and DD has two girls and a boy. The number 3 seems to run in my immediate family. I have a sister in Mt. Shasta, in Springfield, OR and the last sister in Sisters, OR. One of my sisters had lived close by but she passed away in 2004 of cancer. Since my sisters are not closeby, we only see each other in the summers as two of them have school age children and the unmarried one has a BF who two of us have never met in the 6 years she has been with him. We all gather for at least two weeks in the summers and have for many years.

:surfweb:
Sorry to hear about your sister Noel. That must have been hard.

Must be great getting together ever summer- I see my sisters often, but we don't have set trips like that. Lisa

Well, with that color, I am in for sure. Now, just to convince DH;) and get to the store and pick it up! I really wanted the pink sony T-7, but DH said he takes most of the pictures so I had to settle with black. :sad2: and then...he went and bought himself a new one too...so I could have had the pink one! Luckily, the laptop would be all mine, and pink is my favorite color (at the moment)!

I can imagine that must drive you crazy! We are always typing away on our Treo's or computers. When the GK's come to visit, you can see all 5 of us sitting on the bed typing on the 'puters. GK's love to play on Club Penguin and we must look like nuts!!

:surfweb:

My husband and I were out to dinner in Palo Alto and my Treo vibrated - I got an email I had to respond to. I was head down responding and then looked up and my husband had grabbed his Q (another type of Treo thing) and was typing on his! I was so embarrassed. We must have looked so anti-social out at a nice restaurant typing away on our phone. Since then, I've made the rule only one of us at a time when we are out at dinner!

Yes, it was hard on all of us but hardest on her 10 year old son. We have a house at Lake Almanor which we use a lot in the summer. It reminds us of Lake Tahoe in the 1950's when we were growing up. Tahoe is fun for skiing but I love Lake Almanor in the summer.

I hear you!! We have actually been in the car with four of us talking on our phones. Worst of all was when I took the youngest DD and her vollyeball team on trip and everyone would talk on their cell phones and not to each.

My DH even sends me an email while we are sitting next to each other in bed!! He will say are your ready to go to sleep or something else much racier!!

Noel

Roll Call

Has been updated to include a couple of new wenches!!! Hope they look good barefoot and walking the plank!! :scared1:

Laura

As we will be part of the Flabby Cruisers United/Biggest Cruiser Losers we will be looking REALLY good walking the plank! :cool1: :cool1:

woo-hoo! I can hardly wait!

Since this seems to be a very Lisa-ful cruise I will be the "Lisa known as Lisa-daisy" :daisy:
(yes - ANOTHER Lisa and yes my birthday is also during the cruise :cheer2: )

I kind of got a hint that I talk on my cell phone too much when I was skiing the other day with dd 5, and she had her one hand on her head. I thought she was hurt, so I asked her what she was doing and she told me she was talking to Aly (her best friend)! :lmao:

I try and remember what I did without being "connected" 24/7 but I just can't imagine it. I know I survived but I am not sure how! ;)

Exposition of Epidermal Mammary Tissue?

:lmao:

My first computer was a VIC64. Maybe we should keep quiet because we are giving away our age.

Clynne's first was the hammer and chisel.. :)

I might bring my Mac Book Pro. We took in on the last cruise but did not really use it. I had to bail Peggy and her antiquated digital camera out of a storage issue :).. The iPods will come along, the kids PSP and Game Boy.

Heck I might even bring my highest tech gear yet.. Clynne. :)
Surly

You know, I did not use my MacBook once on the last cruise. I took it though.

Alex is going to NEOUCOM (Northeast Ohio Universities College of Medicine). They have an accelerated program to become an MD, you apply as a senior in High School, and if accepted you go to one of three consortium universities (Alex is at Youngstown State University), you get your undergraduate degree in 2 or 3 years, and as long as you maintain grades, and get at least an average score on the MCAT of 24 (Alex got a 35) you have a guaranteed seat in Medical school. You become a doctor in as few as 6 years - which is what Alex is on track for.

My first experience with computers was the #2 pencil cards in High School. An old HP with an optical card reader. It also had a cassette deck.

Welcome from one of the other Lisa's whose birthday is during the cruise (May 20).

DH had an internet bill of $800 last cruise. All necessary for work. I felt really bad for him, but he was a good sport. Should be about double for this one.

I have decided we must be in the wrong line of work. Everyone here gets to go on lots of cruises and take time off... gotta figure out what I am doing wrong, or better yet, what you are all doing right!:)

Speaking of that, this cruise seems to have a lot more repeat cruisers than the last thread I was on. Is that because it is a repo and different or something else?
