Here is what I posted on the other thread:

Hi all, I am on the repo cruise and have a friend who is starting a new personal shopper company for all ports of California. It will be different from Shirley's (which has been invaluable to so many people) but will specialize in packages for the first time cruiser, the family who is way to busy to get everything organized for their Disney vacation and gifts different from Shirley's so that they are not competing, but complimenting each other. Unfortunately, it will barely be up and running minimally for the summer. She has been doing research to decide if this would be useful for people. Any thoughts everyone? What would help you prepare for a cruise? New cruiser or veteran cruiser?

I just came across this on the main threads

"We sailed July 9th, 2005 (I know it's a month after you are sailing). The west coast usually has something called "June Gloom". June tends to be cloudy and cool. (especially in San Diego) We were COLD on our cruise. I hadn't brought sweatshirts because I thought "hey, its' Mexico! It's always hot!"

We sailed June 4-11, 2005. It was very windy and cold, we also didn't bring any jackets or long sleeved shirts, we ended up buying some onboard. In Mexico it was fine (it was hot), but coming back on the last sea day very few people in deck 9 since it was very windy."

Hmmmm, this might mean a few more hoodies

Any thoughts?

I bought the Disney transfers, just because I think it would be easier, I have the Hyatt for the night before the cruise, and I am booked on Southwest for all legs. All I need are excursions and a big pile of cash for the bill at the bar I am going to have.

Tammy, we are doing DCL transfers and staying at the Hyatt. Are you like the rest of us and plan on being on the first bus to the port?

I see that nobody responded to my question about a company on the west coast ports for gifts. Hard to believe that there are no companies at all.

I know that when DCL was here in 05 Shirley looked into finding someone who does this and she did not find anything that she felt she could recommend. After that I thought that this would be a great business to start. I never really looked into it further to find out what would be involved. But it does seem to be a niche that needs to be filled.

Once again, no time to catch up, but just when we thought Monday was bad enough, Tuesday came along . . .

Sophia and I were in a minor accident last night. We went to Value City to (of all things) buy my brother underwear (non-bedazzled) and take it to the hospital. We were stopped at a light to, turn left. A car came up behind us and hit us going between 5-10mph - jolting us pretty good. I got out of the car to take a look at damage, and a young, African-American kid with loud rap music playing motioned to me to pull over in a parking lot. I said no, and as I walked back to the car to call 911, he pulled around us and took off up the street. I got his license plate.

Funny - I focused so much on the kid and the license plate, that I could not even remember the color or make of the car (and I am usually good at those details). Had I been really thinking, I would have used the camera attached to the phone on my hip to take a picture.

We waited for the police for about 20 minutes, and another 1/2 hour to complete the report. What a day.

Still not sure what is wrong with my brother, they gave him two more units of blood yesterday - total now 5.

I wonder what Wednesday will bring?

Ah, Geesh John

When are the gods going to cut you a break. You need to be on a boat in the middle of the ocean where they can't find you.

Hi Joseph

I see that you are going to Jungle, possible swimming in rivers. That the reason you had an injection for it.

Because we just come off the Cruise and we are not going to Jungle:scared1: Anyway, My point of view that I am worry because we have booking the day in hotel at PV. As kids love swimming pool and adventure as pirate boat was cancellation which we long looking forward to. My friends warns me that watch out in swimming pool in Mexico? also my nurse told me watch out foods shellfish etc and buy water bottles.

So finger cross hope we are okay.

Scottishwee35

I have not heard anything about swimming pools in Mexico, but the doctor did warn me about the shellfish and water. The shots were a surprise to me, but it is done, and boarding is so close! At least this morning I can now use my arms, ouch!

I had these shots in basic officer training the morning of our fitness testing...we all looked like Tim Conway's dentist character in the old Carol Burnett show...

John...I am so glad you are both ok....that you didn't get out of the car (I always wonder what I would have done....I worry that I would have been one to have pulled over :scared1: ) and that you got the plate number. I hope today is a fantastic day for you with improvements in your brothers health and just great news all around!

Tammy...I cannot even begin to imagine what you are going through at the moment. I never know the right things to say, but it sounds like you are doing a great job handling this tragic situation! Feel free to vent here whenever you need! Can't wait to meet you.

And Tammy, don't forget to stop by the dismeet in the lobby on the left of Hyatt. It starts at 6 PM and runs until everyone goes to bed. We will be giving out the lanyards and bracelets.

ALSO, for those of you that get the Travel Channel Samantha Brown's new WDW special is on April 11th at 9 PM.

I love Costco for alcohol. When we drive to CA we always stop at the Costco in Redding before we head back into OR. We pick up bottles for the relatives and friends up here also. Last trip I had a basket FULL of booze and the checker said to me, "Oregon or Washington?" :lmao: :rotfl2: We have state liquor stores up here so the cost is way more than in CA.

Angie.....I am there with you!!!! It is so funny how they can just tell we are PNW'ers from our carts. I have gotten asked the same question. Remember last year I did a 17 hour road trip to Redding and back just to get alcohol with a friend for a party she was throwing :lmao: (and, I wasn't even around at the time of the party...I was at WDW!)

John - are you & Sophia ok? Good thing you thought of getting the license plate.

I bought Jacinda some dress shoes from www.endless.com go to the sale section then kids then girls. They have some good deals from time to time and it is always changing. Another good place to look is on the actual amazon.com shoe section. Great deals there too from time to time and different ones from endless even though Amazon owns endless.

wow lots of shoes there :thumbsup2

I hope to be on the first bus but with two tired kids, that might be hard. But we will get down there asap.

Thanks for the kind words. Some days are better than others. Some days I want to get in the car and just drive 85 until I see water!

I am arriving at MCO at 8:50 p.m. and once I collect my luggage and get up to the resort, I will look for you guys in the lobby. Will you be wearing lime green, champagne pink, or multicolored wigs?? LOL.

I just booked five nights at the Grand Californian on points directly following the cruise. I was surprised that it was available. I had to use the points somewhere so might as well see Disneyland for the first time. Where can I get a good deal on Disneyland tickets? LOL.
