The other thing you need to know about Lisa is that Ian organized a Shots around the Ship night for us all to get together and check out all the bars on the ship. You can drink shots of diet coke, we don't care.....it's just that we're all getting together for a little party. I think there's 23 of us going now. PLEASE say YES and join us. Let Ian/iankh know if you want to come with us.

Well, I couldn't find Marr's summary of the shipping boxes info, but found this and felt it needed to be reposted for Lisa's benefit since she missed all the wig discussion! :rotfl2:

Forgot to add...Lisa...welcome home! Glad you had such a great time. Sounds like it was packed with activity!

Sorry the whole family is going to be split up John, but it's good to have the chance to get caught up at work before May vacation. How long will Sophia be gone for....just one week or longer?

Sophia will just be gone for the week. It is only about 3 hours away.

Not like the old days for me . . . just drive by postings.

Tell me about it. Not a great time to be leaving - day before traditional Easter. She will be back for Orthodox Easter.

Today was nuts at work. I had all sorts of problems with some of the schedules our Managers wrote. Had a problem with an employee that I almost had to fire and did not want to - I had to talk her down from what she was doing. A nearby competitor grocery store blew a transfusion (just for you V) and were out of power all day - making two of our stores crazy busy (a good problem).

I was also supposed to have a meeting today at 8:00 - my boss cancelled it and rescheduled it for 9:00 Saturday morning (of course without even asking me about rescheduling). I have to leave by 11:30 to get Amy to the airport.

The last day off I had was March 2nd.

As one of my friends would say about now, she would be playing her violin.

All of this added up to a two aleve headache, and I really could have drank a bottle of wine when I got home.

John, just think, only 50 days until we cruise! Hope things settle down at work for you soon.

For Lisa: Here's what you missed about shipping boxes ahead. Marr called IDS and found out that no boxes were allowed to be shipped ahead of time anymore, but that has changed now and here's the current info:

reposting for others if they missed it:

This is the OFFICIAL word not hearsay ar a maybe but what we are honestly ALLOWED to do.

The owner of IDS called the Coast Guard yesterday and told them about us crazy Disney people and our desires to ship boxes of fish stuff and pirate gear. The problem before was the screening of our stuff. The boxes had to have a way to be screened so the Coast Guard is now going to have a dog sniff our stuff that we ship. SO WE CAN SHIP BOXES!!! The owner of IDS arranged this and seems like a very nice guy.

Now the bittersweet part.
1) We are allowed one box shipped per stateroom only.

2)It must be the size of a records box and weigh no more then about 20-25 pounds he said.

3)No alcohol in boxes.

4)No food or drinks. This may cause the dogs to hit on your box and that would be a bad thing.

5)Label the box with your sailing vessel, sailing date, stateroom or ressie number and GTY status if you are unassigned yet.

6) make a packing list and put it in a sealed envelope and tape this to the box. Your list may or may not be read but it must have one. Write packing slip on the outside of the envelope.

7) If your box is hit on by the dog or choosen for addition screening they will open the list and the box and look through it. They will close it back and provided nothing bad is in it then it will be in your room as usual later after boarding.

These boxes will be coming on the ship with the crew mail along with other things so they may be in the staterooms later then they were before as they are low priority in the scheme of things for Disney.

Hey one box is better then none!

THIS IS NOT JUST FOR OUR SAILING BUT ALL SAILINGS FROM TODAY FORWARD

Welcome back Lisa!

Did you avoid EPCOT and Norway?

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

We kinda breezed right by it. We did NOT eat there!! We did do the ride....the girls spoke to the fastpass person in Norweigian....and we get to go right in....

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Yeah, I'm starting to feel like a stranger . . . just no time anymore. Buried at work, and too tired by the time I get home. The crazy weather has not helped either.

Next week, when Amy is gone, Sophia is on break, and is going to visit her Aunt Tammy in Toledo with Grandma. I will be all on my own.:scared1:

I am going to try and spend as much time as I can in the office to get everything caught up so that I am prepared for the cruise and won't be frantic at the end of April.

Funny, I am feeling like a stranger as well. Tonight, right this very moment, I am in my house all by myself with just 1 dog and 3 cats.....no other humans. It is so wonderful....

I go get mom tomorrow and Frank comes back on Sunday.....

Hi everyone!!

Back from WDW last night and Vanessa did not RUN AWAY!! :goodvibes :goodvibes

A good time was had by all!! We did Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Magic, EPCOT and Typhoon Lagoon!! It waqs a very quick trip and I am exhausted. We drove down......and if I am not tired enough today we did DC...the Supreme Court, Capitol, White House, Jefferson Memorial, Reflecting Pool, Washington Momument, Lincoln Memorial, Library of Congress, Vietnam Wall, and WW2 Memorial. It was a beautiful day, sunny and 50 degrees.

I need to go back to work to REST!!

Tomorrow I am driving to Delaware to get my mom from my brother....that will be an all day trip.

So what have I missed?

Holly, why do you need a wig??:confused3 :confused3

You need to buy a lime green or pink wig and a dress to match. Otherwise you did not miss much. ;)

Popping in to say hi! Been a crazy few days, and this weekend will be more of the same. Have to go to the IL's tomorrow:headache: and my darling Scott failed to inform me that we will be there most of the day and evening:mad: UGH.

V, hope you had a great dinner....I am just waiting for the ribs to finish cooking in the crock pot (love ribs done that way, they are so tender and most of the fat has been cooked off!)

Hope all of you dealing with snow handle it ok. We had some flakes here today, but nothing will stick.

Amy, have a great time and a safe trip!

Kaylee, Hi!! long time no talk to....how was Mexico??

Sorry you have to go to the IL's all day....sometimes that feels like such a long period of time...I always think of everything else I could be doing...
Lisa

John, just think, only 50 days until we cruise! Hope things settle down at work for you soon.

That is about all I think about . . . with the way things have been at work, Amy is afraid the boss will tell me I can't go. I have not reminded him yet.

That's why I got all the info on Verizon. I want to assure him I can be always in touch, and will probably buy an internet package for the laptop on the ship so that I can receive and respond to email.

This is actually perfect for me.....after doing the memorial in the morning, I'm going to need a night like this......perfect timing.

I've never been to all the clubs and bars on the boat either. This is going to be a blast. How many bars are there???......Diversions, Rockin Bar D, Promenade Lounge, Signals....that's all I know, I'm sure there's more.....anyone else that can help me out here?

I guess I'll have to pour my caribbean lemonade into a shot glass and drink it that way! Very cool!

PJ can we add this to the calendar too please, or I'm going to forget again. Thank you.

Thank you Ian for organizing this, we're going to have a blast!

I think you listed all of the spots except for the Outlook. I think both Signals and the Outlook, and Cove Cafe an they all close fairly early.

To be honest, I have never been to any of the spots on the ship except for Cove Cafe for coffee, so I;m really looking forward to a "night out on the town." Plus, it is a sea day the next day, whcih is perfect.

Please let me know when Greek Easter is John. I feel lost because mom is not here and I don't know when it is or what to do. Since we don't have kids anymore we don't celebrate regular Easter. We just celebrated Greek Easter with mom. I have no clue what to do this year. John won't cook a lamb, he doesn't like it. No one can make the bread like mom made. John tried it once when she was rehabing in a nursing home and it came out terrible. I'd like to go to church and light some candles but John won't go with me at midnight and Sandi moved to FL. She used to go with me. I'm really at a loss and I have to come up with something to do to make it ok. I've got to think about it.

It sounds like you and Amy are REALLY going to need this vacation! At least the time will go by quickly.

Oooooh! This is definitely a rare moment for you. Enjoy it while you can! :goodvibes

Well at least that's a good thing! One week will go by quickly and then she'll be back. You're really going to miss having the family with you.

Sure, I will come, if Daniel will let me come!!! Will this be in the mini-nav so I know where to go and when?

Ian . . . if you have one of the newer airport extreme base stations, no need for time capsule. You can now connect any external USB hard drive and have the same functionality. I was going to buy a time capsule, but now don't have to.

I have a bit of a complicated set up . . . I don't think you were posting here when I described it.

I have a newer Base station (square) hooked up by ethernet to a router, which is then connected to the internet. This is my 802.11n base station, and a distinct network.

I have an older base station (saucer) also connected to the router and connected to the internet. This is my 802.11g base station.

I did this because if you put them both on the same network, it slows down the 802.11n devices to 802.11g and impedes performance.

Connecting to the 802.11n network, I have my Apple TV, and my son connects his new MacBook Pro.

My MacBook, Amy's Powerbook and Sophia's iMac (connected with an airport Express) are the 802.11g devices.

All my external hard drives are connected to the new base station, and are available through either network as they are connected by ethernet through the router.

How's that for a long answer to your simple question?

I have 2 Airport Expresses, I don't think they have USB ports, but it might be more economical to just get a new Airport base station. I already have a few USB drives, in addition to 1 or 2 Firewire drives.

I love cereal for dinner and I love Ruby Tuesday. YUM!

I just wrote Lisa a lengthy note about the box shipping dilemma that we went through two days ago......then I deleted it by mistake before I got to post it. I don't know if I could say it all again. Does someone else want to let her know the jist of what she missed about it.

Well, let's see. We can still take our alcohol in our carryon and we can still take a camera bag, a cpap machine, a laptop AND our daybag, even though they say one carry on. We can still ship to the port, just no food or drinks and the size and weight of the box has been clarified. Otherwise, much ado about what turned out to be a very small change.

Deb,

This year Orthodox Easter is April 27th 2008. Lent began last week. I know exactly how you feel. This is the second year without mom for me. I have not been going to church much either because we had a change of priests and I feel like a stranger - there were problems that caused a division.

I can't say I blame John though, I don't like lamb either.

I will still go to church Holy Week though. I think I will need it by then. If you can't get there I will light a candle for you and your mother.
