The Bachelor London anyone?

I taped it on the DVR, but I haven't seen it yet.

This is the first cruise where we are setting a firm budget - a big difference between how much trouble you can get into with a 3 day and a 15 day :rotfl:

VERY true!

No room # this morning! It seems like DCl could organize assigning rooms a better way than a little here and a little there.

OMG- you guys are NEVER getting a room assignment. I can't believe this is still going on.

As for spending onboard, I'm expecting a BIG bill. We've prepaid our tips (thank goodness) already, but I have a few shore excursions and I know we'll spend a lot on pictures. We'll have a bar tab, but nothing too bad, and right now I have two spa treatments scheduled, but I might need to cancel them both if I don't make some extra money soon! On the bright side, I have $175 in Disney gift certificates that I can apply to our account (of course that's all spent!!!)

I'll talk with sis, about the morning, should be ok. how far is glendale from pasadena? not sure about the evening, I think we are going to take my A&U out to dinner that night.
glendale to pasadena is about 5k on the hwy 134

The person that does room assignments is still working on 3 cruises per week before ours. They will get your rooms assigned, don't worry, be happy! :thumbsup2 :)

But(stamp foot and push bottom lip out) we want to know now!!!:lmao:

We are staying onsite before the cruise and will be shipping a box to the hotel ahead of time, they don't seem to be as strict about items shipped and the size of the box. We will also send one box to ship but in the required dimensions and weight limits.

I know awhile back Shirley posted that the owner of the warehouse was pretty frustrated that people weren't following the guidelines and he was thinking about not offering the service.

This is from Shirley's Helpful info post.

WHERE I CAN SHIP BOXES TO:

The warehouse address is:
IDS
9001 Marlin Street
Cape Canaveral, FL 32920

address the package to them and, in the bottom left corner of the package put the following information:ATTN: HOUSEKEEPING
STATEROOM # XXXX (GTY, if you don't know what it is when you send the package)
PASSENGER NAME: (name of passenger on reservation)
VESSEL: WONDER or MAGIC
DATE of SAIL:
NUMBER of BOXES: 1 of 1, 3 of 4 or whatever.
(FOODS/DRINKS OF ANY KIND, LIQUOR OF ANY KIND, FIREARMS, ETC NOT ALLOWED)(EXCEPT BABY FOOD/FORMULA and must be in plastic container)
SIZE OF BOXES ACCEPTABLE
The required size of the cartons you are shipping down should be about the size of a record storage box 12x12x6 and should not weigh more than 20 lbs.
PLEASE LET THE WEIGTH BE NO MORE THAN 20LBS
(This has been asked personally by Dave Adams who is the owner)
Owner is David Adams and the phone number to IDS is 321-799-9100.

Has anyone thought about the size of a 12"x12"x6" box. That is 1/2 a cubic ft., I don't think you could get 20# in it if you packed it with rocks. A box that size would handle 1 pair of crocs in a small size.:scared1: Sure hope those dimensions are incorrect.

Is anyone not doing any "extras" - so no spa, no excursions? I am thinking about our budget and it seems just to go crazy when you add those things on...anyone walk away from a cruise with no bill at all? This one will be tough as our ship board credit doesn't even cover our tips for 6! I used points for our hyatt stay the night before, points for the hertz rent-a-car for ride home...need to pay for transport to the port, and might splurge on a limo...but then think I should just save the money and do a van. But then I really like a limo.

With the spa, I really wanted to try both the Rasul and the Spa Villa for couples. With the excursions, I wanted the kids to do the Dolphins and Sub ride. Argg...I think I would give up my spa so the kids can do the tours, but then I think do they really need those excursions? Being on the ship is going to be such a great vacation in itself.

I figure $100 per kid for souvenirs, knick-knacks, etc. $50 per kid arcade.

How does this compare to some of you guys (if you feel comfortable sharing)? Am I spending more, less, about the same? Having a big family really takes its toll on vacations...

Lisa

This will be our 14th DCL cruise and we have never done an excursion or any spa treatments. If we want to go somewhere we just grab a taxi. We manage to keep our extra costs way down. We still have a great time! I would rather cruise more often than do a lot of extras. We do splurge on a drink or two everday. Heck, we are on vacation!:woohoo: (we keep that cost to a minimum too by buying a bottle of alcohol in one of the ports and mixing it with something from the drink station:thumbsup2 )

Oh Holly... Is there anything that will help? I can take Imitrex... i'd be sunk without it...
Nope. Imitrex makes my heart race bigtime, so I avoid anything in that family of drugs. I take preventive med twice a day, so I only get an actual migraine about once a week or 2 weeks. :thumbsup2 I'm just whiny when I actually get one. ;)

The toilet water must have been from all the green beer! I hope you got a photo to share of the two of you in the hats!
Nope, no pic, sorry. Rushed morning, no time to find a place to set up the camera for the self-timer thingy. Not a big deal though. ;)

Venetia - thanks for posting the pics of your family reunion :lmao: and the DIS meet. Great to see more faces.

Ian - I'll take a pic of you in the tuxes (and I'll charge less than Shutters :rotfl: )

Lisa - I got spoiled on the 4nt cruise Dec 06 (when I met Ian & Sukie). I had already included my tips in w/ my cruise cost and I had $225 obc (if I remember correctly). I did an excursion on CC (personal watercraft), bought some stuff (in stores and duty free), did Palo's (brunch & dinner-with Limoncello martini) and even had a glass of wine my last night and ended up not spending any additional $...I actually had about $2.50 left on my account. It was great getting of the ship w/o any additional charges. For this cruise - I am doing excursions everywhere (Aruba is outside of DCL so still have to pay for that), have a few spa treatments booked (2 massages & 1 facial), plan to buy LE stuff, and have some wine at dinner. I started out w/ $25 obc for booking online, $400 from DU, and all I requested for my bday & Christmas presents was obc. Not sure what my total will be (friends/family won't tell me what they put on)...but I plan to also put a little bit more myself. The only other stuff I still need to pay is for my parking, and my 1/2 of the room at Hyatt MCO that I'm sharing w/ Jackie (and room service). I will also probably buy some pics from Shutters-mainly the ones that I would never be able to get....ex-from the helicopter - shot of the ship going through the Canal

Well, I have to be honest, we saved a certain amount for the last year and will be putting it on the room when we board. We have always spent over $2,000 just the two of us!! Mostly on spa and alcohol!! Embarassing, I know. But when we go on these trips, we don't want to worry about anything, just get what we want, when we want it. So normally it's on the cc and we have that bill at the end. So that's why we went a different route this time and saved the money. We won't have a bill and might even have some left! But if we don't, that's okay too. It is easier to do that when it's just the two of us.

How are you this morning Holly?

Poor you. Hope you wake up migraine free.

Nope. I think it's the change in weather because a couple others here who have them also have been suffering right along with me. Something about the change in barometric pressure, I don't know, but it always happens when there's a weather change. Took me 30 years of migraines to figure that out!

Well there could be a group 'Friends of Holly and Nan'!! for the chatterers!!
:thumbsup2 I love it!

OMG I could so belong to this group but I don't see anything wrong with talking "too much". If I talk a lot to someone it is because I think they are interesting and want to hear more about them and their life. Oh and yes I do go on and on and............
ME TOO! All my life I've struggled with family members telling me to "just get to the point"! :lmao:

Goodmorning all,

Great pics Venetia and Bubba!

I'm recording it ..... and dancing with the stars.
I just watched Lost today from last week and I'm very upset that the whole family is not together.....if you know what I mean. I'm trying not to spill the beans in case someone has not seen it yet.....like Holly.

Don't forget that we don't know who is still on the island, what happened and he may be hiding from her father. We never know the whole story or big picture in that show.

Tivo'ing it to watch later and just finished watching dancing with the stars...is there anyone under disney contract like last time? you know what I mean kelly??

:confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Here are some of the pics from yesterday's Breakfast Meet.

Party of 3 for the Dis Meet please,
DSCF3006.jpg

Let the party begin
[A wild time was had by all...

Hilarious:lmao:

I'm sure someone answered, but yes on our last cruise they said I should have printed it out and then it took a little longer to check in. At least that was my experience. I will be printing out this time. Lisa

Me too, they told me I should have printed it out.

Ok so my kind lds neighbor brings this book over called Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. Has anyone else read it yet? is it scary? not sure if this book is for me. need some guidance here.....

I have this audio book on reserve at the library. It is a series and I think it is for teen girls, but like Harry Potter has become hugely popular.

Quick post. Don't know if everyone has their luggage already, but a certain "retailer" marked their Tumi down today.
Two bags regular price $1,170.
With his discount, someone walked out the door with two bags for $527.
That is a smokin' deal!!!! Basically two for the price of one.
Not positive but it looked like most the bags were roughly $200 off.

On our big 35 day cruise/trip last year we bought luggage from Target and then several of us switched luggage according to what sizes we needed to get home from Europe. We figured that smaller cheaper bags would allow for the sharp weight rules.

Last year's excursions were thousands of dollars (each person was about $150-$200 per excursion) so, we are on a tighter budget this year. We never do spa (just have no interest) and we didn't see anything in Aruba that interested us more than walking the town. We don't spend money on alcohol (since DH is an alcoholic!) So, that save us quite a bit.

Thanks for the advice on the milk and the milk cartons. Kelly, that would be great if you check out your cooler too.
Lisa

Will let you know.

you did note that they don't have any Friends of Nan (Michelle, Holly or Ian) meetings right ?:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: (just to name a few of us who tip them back every now and then...)

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Up here in chilly NorCal my heater is set at a toasty 72 all the time. I don't mind the bill as much as I mind the cold. :rotfl: I am a total WIMP!

me too!

looks like the DIS meet was fun...what restaurant was that? Who is the crasher?
can someone pm me PJ's site, I got a new pc at work and I lost all my favorites!

Will PM you about the crasher.

We had lots of fun at the St. Patricks Day Parade and event yesterday - lots of local cheer - a few Smithwick's - passed on the fish and chips, caught a "gold" necklace as the float passed by, was gieven a few Heiniken necklaces (they aren't Irish??) exchanged stories - watched the folks having thie heads shaved for kids cancer, made a small donation, watched to the beach to see the waves......Fun...
That sounds so fun! :goodvibes

Kelly I was making a reference to Joey and Dancing with Stars? I was wondering if any of the newbies had the same kind of contract Joey. Or will be Joey be coming back?

I disliked the song when it came out back in the 70's and I really dislike it now

Donny trying to be edgy on those entertainment shows is akin to Michael Jackson acting manly...it just does not work:lmao:
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
