I think that at some time while on board, the "LBB" needs to meet in Diversions to swap military stories, hoist a few libations, and honor all of our vets!

Having served as a U.S. Army Officer on active duty for over 12 years, I concur with DrHug, it too was my duty and my honor to uphold the freedoms we now enjoy. I feel sad for the RAF personnel that cannot walk into town without being harassed. It is not right. I had many a friend stationed with the BAOR (British Army of the Rhine) while I was stationed in Germany and none of them were less patriotic to Queen and Country as we "Yanks" were to our Stars & Stripes and the freedoms they represent. I hope those who despise the military will soon remember the words of GEN Douglas McArthur who said "that no one prays for peace more than the professional soldier, for it is he who must suffer the consequences of war." and also that they remember it is because of the soldier standing guard that keeps the light of our freedoms burning bright and allows them to disagree.

I will now get down from my soap box and find a pint (or half liter) to raise to thank my fallen comrades.:drinking1

:thanks: (Could not find a smile waiving a flag)

Very well said. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Words do not begin to express my gratitude to all the Vets, those currently serving and their families for all the sacrifices they made to protect my freedoms.

My internet is acting up. It's taken me over an hour to get 3 or so posts in. So I'm not sure I'll be here much today. So much for watching Survivor and Lost this morning!

But then again, every time I say that, it seems to start cooperating! ;) So if I suddenly disappear, please remember that's why.

Actually cleaned a bit more this morning. Every little bit helps. Still not motivated to do my living room rugs, but will try very hard to do it today. Desperately need to get my room de-cluttered and organized, so that I have a corner for all my jewelry supplies, rather than spread all over my livingroom! :scared:

I was a registered adult for almost 5 years. My daughters roped me into it, and it was a blast being a leader and co-leader, with 4 other women, including Angie. 28 girls in the troop. The last year I was a leader, we took first place in skills at Junior Jam. Out of almost 30 troops. We could have waxed most of the Boy Scout troops in the area. I was a Cub Scout when my Avatar picture was taken. Too bad the membership is dropping. It was so worthwhile. Good memories. Troop 1439, Anaheim.

DH was registered as well. In North Carolina he was a "DoDad". As in Dad do this Dad do that. He loved camping with the girls. Some of our best trips were when the dads were with.

Way to go with Junior Jam!!!. Most troops in our area don't camp and the girls have no idea about fundamental camping skills. It so sad.

I wouldn't think that at her age she would be inclined to turn to her thumb? Wilson always had his thumb and still does :sad2: no binkies here. Is she ready to tell it bye bye?
well.....Samantha sucks her thumb. I am trying to get her to stop, but I think Haley sees Samantha doing it and Monkey See Monkey Do.

I am NOT motivated at all this am. WHY can't I sleep in? These girls would sleep until noon if I let them but NO, Samantha was poking my arm at 7:30 and THEN goes and wakes up Haley.

It looks to be a gorgeous day although it is SUPER windy. I am going to check if we are still under tornado warnings. The howling of the winds is a bit creepy!

My mom stopped by last night and she bought me a dress and a shirt, both INC. They are so pretty, not sure if I can squish myself into them though!

Should be just a tornado watch V, which only means conditions are such that it's possible for a tornado to form and not that there is one there. The warning is when one was actually spotted, whether in the sky or touched down, and is right down the road from wherever the warning gets posted and you HAVE to run to the basement. The warning is when the sirens go off. So the warnings are usually a few minutes at a time because of how fast the tornado moves. When it moves past the warning is gone.

Unless it's done differently in FL, I don't know, that's just how it is here.

I'm very pleased to announce that Mrs. Bennett has been part of the Eastwood Manor household for 1 week. During that time she has made herself indispensable to our daily routine, and she's practically perfect in every way.

Even as I write, she is playing our local public radio station and has just informed me that there are 62 days remaining until we leave for the cruise.

I've just added several more Widgets. Mrs. Bennett likes learning new things.

Good morning all,

Steph, I think Woody and I are going to try to get over there to see you, so PM us your cell phone. Woody, I'll PM both of you.

Hey all...down at the mouse house. It's really busy down here. I've done a bunch tonight, but some rides were just too crowded. Our JV team placed so they will be in the finals...yea! Varsity competes tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed. We rode Big Thunder Mountain while the fireworks were going, it was cool, like being in a commercial! Now I am back at the hotel. Have my favorite room in Paradise Pier. I always request pool view floor 3. That way you have easy access to the pool. Kids can come and go as they please. Although, no kids with us, but still like the location. Plus it's quiet at night. I didn't score any mickey ears, but my friends got the fast pass all access. There's always tomorrow. We are doing the 7am early entry. Gonna ride nemo first! Get that out of the way. You all chatted so much, can't keep up!
Steph

Sounds fun!

Now the weather is terrible - pour of heavy heavy raining:sad2: Weather warning - going to be bad storm tom/Monday:scared1: Scottishwee35:surfweb:

I'm sending you some sunny, warm weather... It will be there in about a week!:wizard:

I am writing to you all from the Hilton Garden Inn in Valencia. We are spending the weekend at ... gasp ... Magic Mountain for Tiffany's 15th Bday. My mom called me to see if I needed to be bailed out of jail (since we homeschool in CA). Tomorrow we are off to ride Tatso, Goliath and a few other "world record holders" roller coasters.

You are just down the street from us. MM has been our stomping ground over the years, DW and I grew up here in Valencia. Love the rides.

MIL called us and told us she always knew we were doing something "bad" by homeschooling! She wants to know if we are going to jail also.

Have fun at MM, we have a client meeting in Venice and then off to DL!

Joseph

Good morning all. That is what the news is calling our weather. It has been snowing almost steady for 24 hours and is going to snow until at 7 PM this evening. Last time weather was seen like this in this part of the state was in '78. We even had lightening and thunder around 5 AM.:scared1: The airport is a mess. Most of the flights are cancelled or delayed and all counties are on a Level two snow emergency at least. Some are under a level three. For those lucky to be in Florida and CA a Level 2 means do not be on the road unless it is absolutely necessary, level 3 is the roads are closed to everything except emergency vehicles and you will get a ticket if caught out. Hey John1 how bad it is for you? Here are some pictures.

These were taken yesterday afternoon.

Mickey loves the snow.

Wow Carol. Good job it is Saturday and you can stay warm and snug.

Some more pictures from today. Just measured the snow on our deck and it is 9 inches. I know this isn't much for you Canadians but we haven't seen this much snow in years.

I think half of the Cardinal population in Ohio is feeding at our feeder.

The wheels on our van are 18". Our nephew had shoveled our drive yesterday late afternoon.

This snow is since yesterday late afternoon. It is still snowing as hard or harder than it is in this picture.:scared1:
