Saw this post...just curious...what is it that happens to the luggage before boarding? Has something happened that causes everything inside to get wet or ruined? Wasn't planning on packing everything in a watertight manner but should I be?

Once our luggage and others sat on the tarmac in the pouring rain. :sad2: Another time someone's cologne broke and our luggage smelled great. Fortunately the clothes were spared.

We have seen luggage come off the carousel, in a clear plastic bag, dripping with unknown liquids.

My cousin was a baggage handler for United. Some of the stories were gross. Spoiled food, broken wine and so on..

Aren't you also known as Goofy? or is your wife marrried to another guy?

I need to find out if it's Blackout at Disney land for CM's.

I don't know how to find out yet. I'll figure it out tomorrow, maybe.

Tomorrow is a busy day for you. Me too. Everything is going to get done tomorrow.

I would say the quickest and easiest would be to buy transportation from DCL. Also, there will be taxi's right at the port, so a taxi would be very fast.

2. you can get really big ziplock bags.

Thanks, I should of mentioned we are staying at Candy Cane Inn so have to stop there first. Should I call and reserve a taxi?

:lmao: Married_to_Goofy is my wife, Meghan. Yeah, somehow I've acquired a number of aliases...Brian, Bueller, Ferris, Mike, Chocolate Guy, Buehler, hdpals, and my wife says Goofy. So hard to keep straight I am suffering from an identity crisis. :headache:

Thunder and lightning are rolling in, so bye bye for now.

I went over there and watched that video and then I got lost in Youtube!

I am totally interested. I posted over there. I am trying to figure out how to plan my DL part of the trip.

Me too! I started out with Disney Cruise videos, and then ship videos, and then violent waves smashing ships videos :scared1:

I finally ended up watching Fantasmic!

tough... ;)

she is out shopping. Had to get some food stuffs for tomorrow morning as her parents are coming down for breakfast. She also is getting the tires changed on her minivan and picking up a few extra items for our Fish Extender.

When she gets home she'll finish her Tropical dress and start in on the ones for the girls.
Wow....Shannon is amazing can't wait to see the outfits:goodvibes
It is better but my manager is still evil. Everyone else quit though so she is being very nice to me right now.
I'm glad she's being nice to you....I would still stay at odd shifts from her you never know how long it will last or when she'll snap:rolleyes1 maybe she's getting the hint with everyone quitting although she may not change:sad2:

I really don't know if you need to reserve a taxi. Don't they have them lined up outside the terminal?

I expect you could call ahead and reserve one.

You were supposed to be working not watching video's. I was working hard and you were relaxing watching video's. You need to know mow the lawn tomorrow.

Well I worked 5 days plus today, while you only worked Monday, Wednesday, and today. :rolleyes1

Unless Tyler comes over to help tomorrow, I'll mow but you get to pick up sticks! :rotfl:

We booked Super Shuttle to take us to the Best Western Park Place Inn. We booked a private car so we don't have to wait for it to fill up. although there are 7 of us so it is pretty full as is.

Nan, not the way to start such a special event. Evil nurses should be in the ER that way those who really aren't ER sick will go away.

Pj

PJ,
I once was told that I was "too nice" to work in the Emergency Department, but I lasted 20 years there. I guess I showed them!! :rolleyes1 You obviously have good and bad people in ALL professions. I love your comment about scaring away people who are not ER sick--trust me though-that does not work!! Vicki

I for one would not bring a sport coat. I personally don't see the point, but that is just me. I think that a nice pair of pants and a good casual shirt or tropical shirt are fine.

I know that some people allow themselves to be peer pressured for dressing up for Palo, I do not. I wear a pair of business casual pants, and a casual shirt, usually something I wear for work, or some tropical-esque shirt. Last time I went to Palo I wore a pair of closed sandals. I think of it as shabby Miami chic.

The way I look at it, it's my vacation and my dime. I am going to not dress like a slob, but be comfortable. My goal is to enjoy myself, enjoy my company and enjoy dinner.

We are packing tux. At first I had wanted to rent, but could not rent the type of tuxes I wanted, and I am not going to don a tuxedo unless it's what I want.

I opted to buy because it was cheaper than renting. So, we are bringing the tuxes with us, each one has 2 jackets, tails and a white dinner jacket.

Just keep in mind that we are treating the formal and semi-formal nights as the costume nights, and will be completely over-the-top.

We are not packing any sort of costume for the "party" nights. I can't be bothered.

If they make you go and change for Palo... I suggest as your possible dinner partner... that you wear the tails....

You're not the first person who told me they were not sending their "smalls" out for laundering. Is there something I'm missing? Is someone going to steal my underwear? Is it going to appear in a stage production?

Now who could have told you that????;)

We gave Best Buy cards and tee shirts from a famous place that is in my home town.

You mean they could be wearing the same shirts as ME???? What color did you get?

Ken: Thanks for the PM...sent you a reply...many thanks!!!

Just realized today that we needed to bank our DVC points before the end of the month. Noticed we would have lost 19 points that we couldn't bank, so we upgraded to a 2 bedroom for May 9th at SSR.

I LOVED the two bedroom at SSR that we had last December. There were just four of us sharing it and it was great to have all that room.

I'm getting a manicure and pedicure towards the end of the cruise.

I think I'll do a manicure on the ship. I'd do one at home the next weekend, but I'd have it ruined by mid-week!

I haven't ever done that either. My DH has walked the trails on CC, but he said there's a new trail that goes to a new observation tower that he wants to see.

Know what else I haven't ever done? Parasail!

Has anyone done that?

Oh, yes! Parasailing at CC is great! I did it for the first time in 06 and it was so peaceful up there. And you can't beat the view...the Magic and Castaway Cay. :thumbsup2

Does anyone else get stressed when they hear these comments? I know everyone is excited but I'm a little stressed and excited! Maybe because it's my first cruise. :confused3 :confused3

I had forgotten that this is your first cruise. I'm excited about the trip for myself and all of us, but especially for all the first timers.

But you can do other things!!!!!!!!

Not just...:surfweb:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Tomorrow is a busy day for you. Me too. Everything is going to get done tomorrow.

This is my mantra!

The Candy Cane is fun and VERY convenient. ::yes::

Well, I had my nap and a bite to eat and spent a little too long in front of the TV while eating, so I must go squeeze in one tiny trip related project before bedtime. :scratchin Which one shall it be?

Two quick questions:
1. What it the quickest and easiest way to get to DL after we get off the boat? I really want to try to get to DL by 10:30!
2. How big are the zip loc bags you put your clothes in? I like the thought of keeping everything together.

United Checker Cab is proud to be the exclusive taxi provider to the Port of Los Angeles and the Pacific Cruise Ships Terminals. The most experienced taxi fleet in Southern California, United Checker Cab has been in continuous operation servicing the Harbor area of Los Angeles since 1937 when it was launched as Wilmington Cab Company. United Checker started with just a few vehicles in the 1930’s, but quickly grew as the need for transportation soared with the influx of transient servicemen during World War II.

Today, United Checker Cab is one of 9 companies franchised to operate in the City of Los Angeles, and the ONLY company whose primary service area includes the Port of Los Angeles, San Pedro, Harbor City and Wilmington. With 70 cabs in its fleet, United Checker Cab provides quick, reliable, and professional service to these areas. All of our drivers are trained on the geography of the area as well as the art of customer service. Our vehicles are all late model sedans or minivans, and receive frequent inspections to ensure safety. In addition, our vehicles are dispatched through a state-of-the-art Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) system, guaranteeing the shortest wait times for our passengers.

Unlike shuttle van companies that charge on a per person basis, our rates are very affordable, and are the same up to 7 passengers. Thus, anytime two or more passengers are riding to the same destination, our taxis are the most affordable option. We have 7 passenger vans and wheelchair vans available. Below are estimated fares to 5 of our most popular destinations from the Cruise Ship Terminals. To get a United Checker Cab at the Port, simply see our customer service representative right outside of the baggage claim area. Please call (888) 729-3556 for booking or information.

Estimated Fares from Pacific Cruise Ship Terminals
LAX (Los Angeles International Airport) $56.00
LBX (Long Beach Airport) $43.00
SNA (John Wayne/Orange County Airport) $84.00
Disneyland/surrounding Hotels $84.00
Amtrak Train Downtown Los Angeles $68.00
