Hopefully my DH will be home tonight so I can at least say hi before I fall asleep. I did not even see him this morning but a box of chocolates was waiting for all three of us girls so that was nice.

I did not see Dennis last night (asleep when he got home) or this morning (he was asleep when I left), but there were roses on the table for me when I got up. :flower3:  I picked up a card for him on my way home. Don't know if I will be able to stay up until he gets home around 10, but I'm gonna try.

Wow, I 've just turned on the news. :sad2: DH graduated from NIU, I worked at Kishwaukee Community Hospital. What a shock!

I just heard bits on the radio on the way home. I need to go turn on the TV and see what's happening. Too sad and senseless.

Ok everyone...

This is my latest story... (& I'm sorry to rant, but right now, I'm pretty alone in this...

First I have to note that I don't get along with my father... VERY bad divorce and I was the one child out of the 4 that was left behind... (the others were older and in college or on their own... I was the only one at home...)

After a very bad incident whereas his wife threw a fit and went after me (for something that was so silly and foolish - I took my nephew to McDonalds and she was serving hamburgers for dinner...) and threw me out of the house... Ever since then my father and I have had a strained relationship. I had panic attacks and pains in my chest for the last 28 years so I decided to have my own life. I am very cordial and respectful when I am in his company - he turns things around and tells his version of things and I end up on the bad side of things...

So... last Thursday my brother calls my mom... They don't call me, because they think that I'm the one that left dad... and they blame me... He tells her that dad had surgery to remove a cyst... I come down to TX to visit my sister and she tells my mother - not me... that it is cancer, but that they don't know what the treatment will be.

He's 77 this year. Has more heart problems than Dr. Oz could find... along with many other health issues.

So... I've spent the last 2 nights crying because I am afraid that if I have to go to his funeral/services, whatever... someone is going to blow up at me (I do not intend to cause a scene...but I don't trust my stepmother...)

So I'm feeling pretty crappy about all of this.

Sorry I had to rant... I just don't have too many people to talk to about it...

Can you take someone with you? Perhaps the others would be polite if you had a "stranger" along?

Where is the event likely to be? I'm in Indy, if it was here, I would go with you.

If it is near where you live now, I would wish I still lived in Petersburgh and then I could go with you, but that is were we lived 4 houses and 20+ years ago.

PTFD....
Post Traumatic :fish: Disorder!!![/QUOTE

Maybe if we can't have our Mickey fish t-shirts...Would we get in trouble for
PTFD survivor shirts with a single fish on it?? :thumbsup2 Oh course, it might offend someone who has PTSD , wouldn't want to do that either.

Jan, that is so sweet and such good advise. Take a friend when the time comes.

I might be in a short skirt as I don't 'do' dressy very well and I'm not sure how I will go about finding something in April anyway. I think the most dressy I will do will be a long black skirt and a couple of more dressy tops.

Sounds PERFECT :thumbsup2
Long skirt and a couple pretty blouses with some flashy costume jewelry.

The less they wrinkle the better they pack. My long black skirt went to England rolled up inside the crown of my hat so it did not lose its shape for my niece's wedding in Hagley. It's a great skirt!

And sandles! Yup, sandles. Black ones to go with the black skirt. TEVAS with thin straps. Flat to keep my plantar fasciitis from acting up.

Two formal nights and a semi formal--I may dress a lot alike those days. You can notice my JEWELRY changes though.

I have good news

From Australia, My cousin daughter gave a birth baby girl, then

Bad news

My friend lost her full term pregnany baby this morning, her baby should be born this week.

I feel shiver in my spine when I heard it.

Very sad.

Congratulations to your cousin.

Sympathy to your friend. Losing a child is never easy, no matter what age the child.

Forgive me if I am too punchy here, but it took me 2 days to get home from Florida. My Ft Myers flight was delayed because of freezing rain in Atlanta and I missed my connecting flight to SLC, the last one of the night. Everyone on the flight missed thier connections and there was a lot of yelling at the flight attendants and even more yelling at the gate agents. I went to the crown room, and no joke, burst into tears. I wanted to go home so bad! I think because I was the first person not to yell, they were so nice! There was no need for yelling, it is an act of god. Anyway, they forced me on to the first flight out at six fifty, it was overbooked and had a waitlist of over 40. Then they gave me a free hotel night and a tshirt to sleep in. My only question is. why doesn't anyone sell saline solution? Seriously, no one with contacts has ever been layed over in an airport?

Anyway, the morning flight was delay another 1 1/2 in the morning while we were sitting on the ground with no heat, due to mechanical problems. I wore the same yicky clothes for 2 days and my contact is glued to my eyeball and I wanted to kiss the ground when I finally got to my car.

what a day...

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone

YIKES! What a day Kim!

I never understand what good people think will come of yelling at people who are just doing their job, and have no control to change the situation. Hopefully you and Steve can have a nice evening.

Hmmmm.....speaking of jewelry, I wonder if I should bring my display jewelry on the cruise, people could borrow if needed (with some sort of sign out sheet), and I could do a jewelry show on a sea day. Could be fun trying on jewelry at sea! :thumbsup2

 Kim, wish I could give you a real hug, not a virtual one! Glad you finally got home safely and glad they took as good of care of you as they could under the circumstances. I too wonder why folks yell at the closest target when there really is nothing to be done about the situation. :confused3

ok Smartie friends and foes, I have to get to bed. Remember that heart picture box idea I was gonna do for Wil, well I bought the box of candy....I think I'll get out the pictures and tell him we can craft it together. That will be fun, won't it? I'm such a good idea maker but a bad idea completer.....

I asked for a heart box this year so I can make one of those boxes - got it too! It's a pretty pink one!

I missed it, what are you going to make?

Jan :earsgirl:

Thanks Lisa, this is good to know. I'm still looking. I thought the Frontier flight was a direct flight, but it has one stop so I'm still trying to decide.

pirate: pirate: pirate: pirate: :thumbsup2

All of their flights go through Denver. If you fly on the 8th we could meet up in the airport! I think we get in there about 2:30pm.
