May 1-5 Vs June 4-9

We have reservations for April 30-May5, but our children's school is now giving us a problem with them being out of school so close to the end of the school year. School lets out May 24. So we could go May 28- June 2 or we could go June 4-9. How are the crowds either of these weeks? We are used to going in September so I know we'll encounter more crowds than we are used to, but I don't want to feel overwhelmed by them. If that makes sense.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

We'll be there for 6 nights starting May 31 (not sure if that's an incentive or a warning ). One thing we discovered after booking: that is the week of Gay Days, and I'm told that the MK on that Saturday (June 3) is extremely crowded due to that get-together. Won't bother us - heck, DW and I might put on pink shirts and confuse everyone - but just FYI....

Yes, I'm aware of the Gay Days. I was told that as long as you check their schedule and avoid the parks that they are at on those certain days that it isn't too bad. I hope that is correct since my kids are 13, 12, 9 and 2. I'll be answering LOTS of questions. LOL

Just in general, southern schools start their vacations mid to late May, followed by the northern schools right up into mid June. I find that the earlier you can go, the lighter the crowds will be. You will start seeing the crowds (certainly more than September) since you can't go on your original dates, but the longer you wait, the heavier they will get.

Schools are really giving you a hard time????? The $15,000 dollars a year I pay in school tax tells me I'll have a big problem with the school telling me anything about when to take MY vacation. If the kids get the work before hand and aren't missing finals I don't get the problem? Anywhoooo..........

I'd sugest going as early as you can. As others have said, once you hit mid June the crowds really get a lot worse. May is still nice and not oppresively humid. Have a great trip.

Not after I get a hold of them! I do the laundry, and I'm told I go a bit heavy on the bleach!
