How do we know that they are different booking categories?

I figured all DVC check-in will move to Kidani once it opens and they'll stop checking in DVC members at Jambo.

According to the FAQs page on the public DVC website your building is confirmed at the time you make your reservation and you check in at the location where you are staying.

Can Members check in at both locations?

Members and Guests will check in at the location at which they are staying. The building in which they are staying will be confirmed at time of reservation.

We are planning a May 2009 stay in a GV. So I will need to probably call day by day in June. I think that is would be great to move over to Kidani, if the new pool area is open then. But I am nervous to try to move the reservation over there, if the pool and bar aren't already open. We will have two little ones with us and I want to be close to a pool area. I have this weird feeling that the new pool will not be open when the first phase opens. Has anyone seen any construction on the pool yet?

On the note about how they will handle the reservations, I think that they will either open the reservations for Kidani to members of AKV first for a few days or they won't do anything special at all. I have a feeling that they may just treat it like they did when adding new inventory in the past and just start taking reservations right away. I do feel that people on the wait list will probably get filled first.

I am slightly confused because there's nothing (that I know of) in the point structure that designates a reservation as Kidani or Jambo. I just assumed you could request one - but there would not be a guarantee.

When you book, it clearly states...even now..."JAMBO 1 BR Savannah View". From all the reports, and from the DVC AKV FAQ, Kidani will be a guaranteed booking category (same points structure is the assumption) when it opens.

Which makes sense, since Jambo and Kidani will have 2 completely separate check in desks. You'll sort of HAVE to know which one to go to to check in...and the easiest, and most logical, way to do that is to make the 2 separate categories.
