Sorry if this has already been asked. I'm from Canada and plan to use wifi only at the parks. I understand there are hotspots I can use to book my fastpasses but what about redemption? Are there hotspots near all fastpass rides so I can show them from my phone at my return time?

I'd suggest a backup plan because the wifi was practically non existent in the parks. I'm Canadian as well and couldn't use the wifi the entire week we were there. It was terrible and kept cutting out making it nearly impossible to use the app so I ended up just using my data plan. Thankfully I'd put a US plan on my phone.

The WiFi is getting better. It’s still limited to certain areas in the park but today was the first day I could actually use it and it functioned normally.

I'm glad to hear it! Hopefully it continues to improve.

The WiFi was downright terrible this past Thursday to Sunday in the parks. I finally turned the WiFi off to save battery because my phone was constantly searching for (and not finding) WiFi. If you do try to use the hot spots, you will be smart to screen shot every FP you book in case there is no WiFi at the ride you are trying to enter. While you can use your paper ticket, if there is an issue, you’ll want that screen shot. Also when a ride goes down during your MP FP,window and it becomes a multi experience pass, you’ll want to scan into any other FP rides that you have a FP for via the ride-specific FP on your phone instead of paper tickets so it doesn’t accidentally use your multi experience FP.

I'm from Canada too, and no data for my trip next week.
I've got this map https://disneyland.disney.go.com/guest-services/internet-wifi/
saved in multiple screenshots on my phone so that I have a better idea where the hotspots are, and don't have to walk around holding my phone up & looking ridiculous! I hope it will help with the spotty wifi.

I was there for 2 weeks, starting ther 9th and we left on the 23rd. The only place I had a real issue with the internet was coming into California Adventures. The photo shop castmates told me that area is a dead spot.

I would absolutely not depend on the "wifi hotspots" to book your FPs. That would basically remove the value of MP, which is that you can book from wherever as soon as your window opens.

The "hotspots" are in tiny ranges and don't work half the time. I often get error messages even when I'm right on top of places that should connect, and most places aren't even SUPPOSED to connect.

I would very seriously look into a temporary data plan for the US, if you are going to try to use MP. As Skyegirl 1999 said, the value of MP is in booking as you literally walk on to a ride that you just scanned into with your last FP or booking from DTD or your resort on a pool break. I seriously think they should just say there is NO wifi at the parks, and that would be pretty accurate.

I'm from Canada too and I plan to use "Roam Like Home" or whatever it's called (lol) from Telus. I believe other providers have it as well. Telus costs $7 a day to use the phone plan you have at home. I believe Rogers is $5 a day. There are also US data plans you can add as well.

Can you update this and .et me know how it goes? First I can't seem to even download the app?? Not sure why? I can't find it in the App Store and when I go to the website it pulls it up but will not download.

It's not an app. It's offered by my cell phone company.
I am with Telus. I went online to my Telus account and activated roaming and this feature. Then every time I enter the US it charges me $7/day but I have all the features of my regular plan.
There are also plans that include talk, text and data but I find the plans don't have enough data for my usage.
Other cell phone companies in Canada have a similar feature I believe.

Lol I mis typed... I meant the Disneyland app and max pass :) have you used it?

I have the app downloaded on my iPhone and its lots of fun to play around with. It is in the Canadian App Store. I bought my park hopper tickets on the computer with MaxPass included and they have already appeared in the App.
If you just have regular tickets, I believe you will need to add Maxpass each day.
I am looking forward to being in the parks and using MaxPass Oct. 19,20, and 21. It's been fun to check wait times and FP return times.

We were there 9/22 to 10/1 and had maxpass added to our annual passes so we checked for wifi often. I suppose there is wifi hotspots, but they were never available anywhere I wanted to make my fastpasses or use the app. Our time would come up to make a fastpass so we made it right away wherever we were. It would have been too much hassle to find the hotspot. We used our phones constantly this trip and wifi should be much better in the parks than it is. The few times I was able to get wifi it didn't work well. We stayed at the Grand Californian and the wifi there was excellent in our room and by the pool

I totally agree. I am so intrigued that Disneyland managed to monetize FP without even adding decent wi-fi to the parks! They really can basically get away with anything at this point! :confused3
