There are 6 of us and I will be the Disney Project Manager of Attractions (!)- I plan to purchase MaxPass for all 6 of us and organize attraction times throughout the day. As we approach a ride- can I just show my phone to be scanned for the 6 of us to enter- OR- do each individual require the downloaded app and MaxPass to be scanned on their smartphone. We will all be together throughout the day/evening. Thanks

Only one phone is needed and you can scan all 6 of you to enter a FP line. However, I recommend that each of you use your tickets to enter the lines instead of your phone because it is much faster. We put ours on lanyards and the kids had no problems. (4 boys ages 9-14)

You can manage it all from one phone. You’ll have all the tickets loaded into the app and can create your FP reservations from there, plus you can swipe through each ticket when you need to redeem a FP. As an alternative to scanning into the ride with your phone, you can use the park tickets, too (personally, I find using tickets quicker, but others prefer using their phones).

Make sure you have a phone charger!

You can do this from one phone (you just swipe through all the FPs on your phone for that ride). Like above, though, it's honestly faster to just scan tickets and have everyone that is able to to scan their own. It's also less of a battery drain.

However, if you do prefer to scan from a single smartphone, please make sure your party is not blocking the other scanner while you scan so that it can be used by other parties. This is a big contribution to backed up FP lines because it decreases the efficiency of the entry point.

As PP said, they can also use their tickets to scan in, so if they will not be booking FP there's no need for them to install the app even if you were to split up. I would recommend setting up the app on one other phone in case you run low on battery of have other technical problems.

If you decide to scan for everyone from your phone (rather than having each person scan their ticket themselves), be sure to ask your group to stand off to one side while you're scanning. There are usually two scanners at the ride entrance and I often see groups blocking both scanners while only using one, which can cause a backup if they have any difficulty with the scanning process.

Easiest method and best for flow through the line IMO and how we operate:

You manage and book all FP's via the FP group you create in the app (which automatically loads the FP onto each individual's ticket in the FP Group)

Each person scans their own ticket (either paper or digital via their app) to enter FP attraction at the entry point.

While it can be done, one person standing there swiping through and scanning multiple people's FP's while the party and other try and pass by creates a cluster backup at the entry scan point.

Disney Project Manager of Attractions  I think I'll be the designated one for my group too.

So am I getting this right... either 1 Smartphone scan for the whole group or the group scans their tickets individually?

Yes - but if you have multiple tickets you have to log in each ticket - So you bring up one bar code - scan, bring up the next bar code, Scan. In a large group I think it's easier to use the paper tickets for scanning. Seems faster to me.

Both are an option at any time...so either/or

The FP's are automatically loaded onto each individuals ticket....so they can either scan their individual ticket at the FP entry point...or you have access to each ticket in your FP group...but you scan one, swipe to the next ticket, scan the next, swipe to the next ticket...scan the next...that can be the cluster part as everyone is huddled around the scanner blocking everyone else.

I mean, you can also have one person scan all of the tickets, or you can every person scan in for him/herself with either a phone OR a ticket, or you can have each adult scan for him/herself but also scan for the children... it really doesn't matter. Phone or ticket, one person for the group or individually, as long as every person present gets a green light, you're good. As for what's fastest, I think it's each person scanning his/her own ticket, with the possible exception of little kids, where it's likely fastest for an adult to scan for them. Others have different opinions.

I always use our tickets (technically APs) because I prefer it for many reasons (saving phone battery, I think it's fastest, not messing around trying to pull up the tickets, etc.), but sometimes I'll scan all three tickets before my husband and daughter come through, and sometimes they each scan their own. Often, my husband and I each scan our own but I also scan for my daughter. The key is to be ready to scan something when you get to the scanner so you don't back up the line.

The one thing that might slow you down with each person scanning their own ticket is if some members of your group keep their ticket buried deep in their purse/wallet/backpack and don't pull it out until you're at the scanner. If everyone keeps them in an outside pocket or lanyard and you remind them to pull them out on the way to the ride, no problem. I prefer not to use the phone because it's hard to see what you're doing in bright sunlight, sometimes the screen sleeps or I accidentally minimize the app or what have you. It's not horrible, it's just a bit less convenient. But there are only two of us - I can see the value of not having to keep track of six tickets all day.

This sounds just like the system they have over in Shanghai Disneyland which was really cool but yeah... sometimes people would really hold up the FP entry way.. and I do remember having to fuss with my brightness sometimes as I usually keep it as low as it can go. I think I'll have everyone scan their paper tickets to speed things up and preserve my battery.

It surprised me last week that they don't have an option to scan everyone with one bar code for FP's. So if you party is 4 people you get 5 bar codes. The first first bar code that pops up would be for all 4 people and then have the individual bar codes available if you don't want to ride all at once. They could even have a question pop up on the app asking if you want one or all 4 bar codes so you don't scan all by mistake.

Yes! that is what I was hoping was an option as there are 6 of us. I really wanted to be "quarterback coach" and direct everyone in! Likely it sounds faster for each person to either have the app open (or because they are all new to this)- have their ticket to scan.

It is much faster to have everyone scan their own ticket media, whether it be from the app on their own smartphone or physical ticket/AP, no contest. Also, I have seen people's apps freeze mid way through and then they have to re-boot the app and get back to the bar-codes, not even remotely fast. I strongly suggest having the app at least downloaded on more than one phone. I cannot tell you how many times my phone or my companion's phone just stopped being able to do something or another with the app and it was great that the other person could just get out their phone and complete the task at hand while I fixed my app and vice versa. I also discovered that my friend has zero reception anywhere near the guardians ride so if we have to schedule a Maxpass while in line there then my phone is the only option.

The CM's are looking for a green light for each person. While a good idea, not sure how practical that would be with current hardware.

I'm willing to bet that this is an updated feature they eventually add, in time. It's a no brainer.

For us it's easier for me to scan everyone on my smartphone, but I don't let the kids keep their tickets because I don't trust them not to lose or destroy them. I promise we don't block both scanners, and I was really annoyed that groups that did.
