Maxpass impact on fastpass?

havent been to DL in a year and just read about maxpass. With 2 kids we were heavy FP users. We had a strategy thanks to this board. How does MP impact FP? Do FP run out earlier? Are the return lines a longer wait?

We'll be going in June when we really need the FP or some kind of strategy to keep it the happiest place! thanks!

I wasn't able to use Maxpass on my trip in December, and I had no problems using regular FP if that's what you mean.

The return lines can now get very backed up at the scanners because you scan your park ticket to redeem the FP instead of handing a CM the paper - this is how all FPs are redeemed now, booked with Maxpass or not (the scanners launched before MP did).

The total FP experience doesn’t actually TAKE that much longer (most of the time), but it can be surprising to walk up to the “FP return” and see 50 people lined up.

You can still use regular fastpass. They haven’t been running out significant faster that I’ve noticed. The return lines HAVE been long but that has been more to do with how both fastpass and MaxPass are both being scanned in now and it confuses 1 out of every 3 guests it seems. So many fastpass return lines like Space Mt & Indy will have crazy lines outside of the queue enterance but then the line itself moves just as fast as it ever did and rarely takes any longer overall.

The maxpass is the same line? So the advantage is being able to get them via phone instead of running around and you can get more at a time? Maybe I'm missing why maxpass is an advantage worth paying for?

Yeah the main advantage is that you can book FP on your phone instead of going to the kiosks. I really appreciated that when it was just DD and myself so I didn’t have to drag her around to the kiosks. Photopass is also included and while I didn’t use it, it does add value for people that do.

The other feature nice with MP is being able to book a MP from anywhere once you have scanned into the parks for the day.
People mention they book MP's while they're taking a break back at their hotel.
You can book a DL MP while in line for a ride at DCA.
On our October trip we had an early flight home. We spent the morning in the parks before heading to the airport.
While waiting in the SNA airport for our flight, I was playing around on the Disney app and was able to book a MP for a ride from SNA.

Its a convenience at best for most. Is convenience worth paying for? For some yes and for others no. I think this completely depends on how your family tours. With younger kids we like to do all the rides so it would not have made sense for us. If we had teens and just wanted to do fastpass rides I could see paying for it for a couple of days where we just concentrated on those rides.
