Maximum occupancy BCV 1 BR

I know the "official" number is 4; however, are 5 people still allowed if they supply their own bedding for the 5th person?
My sister's family is thinking of doing 4 with a 10-year-old in a 1 BR at BCV.
Is this okay with DVC? and park reservations, etc.?

If they're staying on points, 5 guests will be fine. If they're booking a cash reservation, I don't think Disney will let them book 5 guests in the room.
