Maximum number of points?

I'm having a bit of a fit of fantasy at the moment, but I seem to forget the maximum number of points a person can own in DVC and the details of how that works....per individual (ie. dh, each child, myself?), per home resort, absolute total?

Can anyone fill me in?

Just having fun!

I believe that the individual ownership limits are 2,000 points max per resort and 5,000 pt max total. I'll never even come close (unless those Powerball numbers come in or some rich, old uncle is looking for me :lmao: ) so I don't really pay that close attention to the max limits.

Yeah, I've just recently decided to dream big...LOL. That way if I end up with even a tenth of what I dream it will still be pretty darned nice!

Honestly, I'm not sure what I'd even do with that many points.

Hummm, 5000 pts, Imagine those MF's!!!

2000 per resort and 5000 total are the maximum - but there are a few members with even more points. As long as the deeds are titled uniquely, it's possible to have more points - each spouse could own 2000/5000 and thus double the effective totals and by using other family members (of legal age of course) or corporate accounts, even more could be owned.

It is fun to dream! :)

My dh wondered at one point if it would be possible to spend 365 days a year at a WDW DVC. I imagine it would be possible with 10,000 points, though I suppose they won't let you stay in one villa the whole time. But who would want to anyway? 2 months at each maybe? LOL

Time to get started building those points!!!!

There is currently a 1000 pt OKW contract on TSS!!! :woohoo:

Of course $80,000 buy in and $4,560 MF's per year+ is a lot of change to save. :scared1:

LOL...DH and I are awaiting ROFR for a BWV resale for 150 points!

Even though we are FAR FAR AWAY from retirement (we're only 31, so at least 24 years left!), DH was joking around with me and said that when we retire we will be snowbirds and spend the winter at WDW, and the warmer months here in NY! :rotfl2: Yeah, we both laughed...imagine the amount of points we would need!!! Hey, we could always buy some more at that point, but would only have 10 years left until the BWV contract expires. So we decided that for now we will go every other year for 10 nights with our kids in a one-bedroom. When they are much older and outgrow Disney, we will go ourselves and stay in a studio. When we retire we will go twice a year and stay in a studio, for shorter than 10 nights (probably around a week during low season, although Sun through Thu for 45 points seems nice for a 5-night stay in September!!!). We talk about going for our anniversary once we retire (it's in November and we are teachers so we can't right now), and for one of our birthdays (his is first week of May, mine is first week of June). We fantasize about going during less crowded times, or special events that are crowded but currently during the schoolyear so we can't until we retire (like Food & Wine, but who knows what they will add by then!!!).

Hey, we love dreaming too. We always talk about the things we want to do when we retire, even though it is over 20 years from now! It always comes down to one thing though...lots of vacations!! So DVC will really be great at that point!

So long as we are in dreamland, and money was no object, I'd probably take the attitude that someone I know has. He would simply strike a deal with Disney, get some land and build his own resort for just him and his friends. Why spend all of that money on points and fees? I just dream of that, but he could probably do that now if he wanted. He's on the Forbes' list of top billionaires in the world and has his own private (he's the only member) 19 hole par 72 championship golf course in his backyard! Thus my fantasy would be to build my own resort for my family and friends (and maybe some of the Dis'ers here).
