Should we try to park hop between EPCOT and MGM or is there a danger that one or the other will reach max. capacity on the 13th or 14th of Feb. (Friday and Sat.). We want to spend most of the day at EPCOT - then eat at Sci-Fi, Fantasmic, and then try to get back to watch Illuminations. Should I risk this?

On the 13th (friday) I was hoping to go to MGM then hop over to Magic Kingdom to do Spectro--its the only night that it i showing. I thought that being the case Magic Kingdom will be packed most of the day.
Like the previous posters asked.....can they close the park to me if I only wanted to see Specro? I should take the chance??

Parks can and will be cloed when they reach capacity. Even having a PS doesn't help. There are obviously no guarantees but although that is a busy weekend, it didn't close for us last year. Also, they close to offsite guests before on-site guests. I would not cut it to close if you are set on Spectro, in case it is closed when you arrive. If the park closes, depending on the rate people leave, they obviously than let more people in.

Enjoy

Most of my trips have been on Presidents Weekend and although the crowds have been "respectable" they aren't that big that time of year. Remember most kids are in school during that time so long distance travel is less. At any rate, it has never been in any danger of closing due to too many people.

Thanks. That makes me feel better. We have a PS at Liberty Tree Tavern Saturday evening, and I'll be in such trouble if we don't eat with Pluto.

I have a ps for LTT that Sat too.
Hope it wont be too busy.

 Don't worry about it. We've been there on a couple of Pres weekend holidays, and even though it's alot more crowded than the rest of Feb, it's NOTHING like easter week or July.

Look for us (all 11 of us)! Even though we're going to the MK parade/fireworks on Tuesday 2/10, I'm sure my kids will drag me again on Saturday night.

Now if it would only warm up a little down there . . .

We went last year for NYE and also President's Week and though President's Weekend was very crowded, it did not compare to any of the days surrounding NYE and the parks didn't close much then (AK closed on 12/30 and then of course NYE there were closings, but that was it). So I wouldn't worry about President's Weekend because the crowds were nowhere near as thick so you should be fine.

I'm glad to hear some reassurances about these dates. I'll be there with my family Feb 8 -15. I've been kicking myself for months now for not realizing these dates ran into President's Day weekend when I booked. Our latest itinerary has us at MK on Friday, with PS for dinner at Crystal Palace, and on Saturday we're either going to EPCOT with dinner PS at Rose and Crown Pub, or we're having a non-parks day.

Here's to hoping we all enjoy lower than we're fearing crowds!

After reading some of the posts we too were getting worried about the crowds. We'll be there Feb5-Feb14. We have travelled to other locations this time of year but have barely noticed an increase in crowds. Hopefully we will have enough time to do the MUSTS be before any big crowds come:)

I have been on presidents day and it isn't too bad. I think it is only up here in the North East where February vacation occurs. Every one else has March vacation correct? also I think these boards incite a little bit of panic about park closings, and capacity crowds. If I am not mistaken this usually only happens at Christmas and New Years. I have been at Christmas New years and this past year on Easter. Easter we strolled into the Magic Kingdom around noon with no propblem. remember that every ones ideas about crowds are relative. If you were at EPCOT in the couple months after it opened you know what crowded is, the line for the land was litteraly out the building down the walkway in front.

Wow, a bunch of you are leaving real soon too. I'm SO excited :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc So they can actually close the park? How often does that happen. I've been at some of the busiest times of the year and have yet to encounter that problem.

We are arriving in Orlando on Presidents' Day (Feb. 16). I am planning to do MK on Wednesday or Thursday.

How do you think the crowds will be by then? Any thoughts on which day would be better?

Thanks!

I don' t think it happens often. In all my trips, it only happened once. New Years Eve seeing out the millenium (Dec 00 to Jan 01). Even than, maybe because of the bitter cold, it first shut to only guests staying offsite. There was always somewhere you could get in though.

I guess I look at it differently, if it is so crowded they need to close, I don't want to be inside

Sandy, I agree. I wonder what their limit is. Must be pretty high considering the size of the parks.
