Hey! Everest isn't just for boys!
IMG_6851web.jpg

They all had a lot of fun! I even joined for a little while!

That toboggan is a blast.... !

I have been pondering on how to celebrate my family's birthday on our trip...My oldest son will be 9 two days before we leave Omaha, my daughter's is the day we leave, and my husband's birthday is Easter. I have thought about having a birthday party with family on my son's and have a small celebration for all of them on the day we arrive. I want them all to feel special... I would love to find a bakery (other than Walmart) and have a cake delivered and waiting... something small but Disney themed...My daughter wants a Tinkerbell cake, and I don't know what my son wants... so I'm trying to figure out a balance. Any ideas?

Way to go Zoey girl!!!!! So CUTE!!!!

Okay - I have celebrated my bday at disneyworld several times!! Make sure you mention it, get the birthday button for them to wear(I wore mine all week as a bday celebration) etc. I bet if you contact GKTW you'd be able to find out if there is a bakery near by - I could also ask a friend who doesnt live too far away from GKTW if she has any ideas!! Character meals are super fun on your birthday too!!!!!!!! Let everyone wear a button, birthday, MAW - and have a great time!!!!!

What rides are the kids looking the most forward to?:wizard:

Thank you for sharing Kaleb's story. What an amazing story and what he went through. I'm so happy that he is getting his wish.
[/SIIZE]I love the pictures of the kiddos. You sure did get alot of snow. Tell Zoe she is a better sewer than me. What a cutie pie.

Thank you for the encouraging words:hug:

I wish I had some ideas. I'm bad at planning. Can you call GKTW and ask them if they had some ideas of places?

The birthday buttons are a great idea and I'm going to try to remember them! Wow I'll be the only one without a button!

If you have time to ask your friend that would be great....

Well the kids are just looking forward to being at WDW! My oldest wants to to do the speedway... and I think they'll love that one... Splash Mountain..Haunted House...the train...really anything they can go on, they want to do!
We don't have tv service so they don't see the ads, and their only knowledge of it is the movies..... I know Kaleb wants to tell Mickey that he got a new kidney... so that is a must do!

I think once we get about 30 days out I'm going to try to call if I don't get any other info! If all else fails, then Walmart, but I love small bakeries and their cakes....there is nothing like it.

Thanks for visiting....

I love small bakeries too. Judy had a great advice. I will have to check this bakery at DTD when we go. I have a thing for cupcakes. yummy

Thanks for the comments... If I can't find a bakery and babycakes is out of range..then Walmart will do! I don't think the kids would care where the cake comes from...although my daughter wants a Tinkerbell doll cake that I saw on cakecentral.com.....maybe I'll have to try it (and probably fail at it) for before we leave....I'll have to check our that link....

In the meantime... I did a no no and forgot to give Kaleb his prograf until two hours after its due (it's supposed to be every 12 hours.... there is a little leeway but not 2 hours) and we have labs in the morning for it...this is the first time I have done it. I got a little frustrated with everyone being to rowdy that I just got them into bed without thinking... So I'm trying to decide what to do... why do things happen at night? I'll have to probably call the transplant coordinator first thing in the morning....kids have to be to school pretty early...l. Maybe I'll call her right now.....

I guess I worried a little too much.... we'll just have it charted that he was late on his meds and missed part of a dose..... somestimes it's scary to think that he can have a rejection episode because I did something stupid and preventable!..... and we'll still have his labs done in the morn..... :scared1:

Hi Girly - so sorry you had a scare!!!

I bet that once you get to GKTW you can ask around about a bakery. Even the person who greets you at the airport is usually a local volunteer - I bet they will have an answer for ya!!! GKTW is just loaded with friendly volunteers!!!!!

Is it your first time to WDW? close to your Anniversary?

HI Wendy....

Our anniversary is in July..... 10 years.... never thought I be planning a wish trip when I got married! I guess no one thinks illness will hit you. My father died of cancer when I was 13 and he was shy a month of his 40th birthday... I thought I had had my fair share...not! But it's okay.. I think we are stronger for it and Kaleb will be extra strong because of it.
I had a lot of memories of my dad and Disneyland. He would take me on Dumbo....He also worked there for a few years as an electrician, and would tell us how scary Space Mountain was with the lights on! and how realistic the Yeti on the Matterhorn looked up close.... When they redid Fantasyland in the early 80's he brought home a souvenier key that they gave cast members...I got too curious and dropped it and broke it:scared1:
Just like most every mom...no all mom's here... I want this to be special for them.. I think it'll be fun to celebrate Kaleb's new life and wish with the kids' and my hubby's birthdays....and I :love::love:cake...ones that are beautiful and tasty too!
I think it is going to be so fun to see the kids' expressions....my kids aren't extremely sophisticated...everything is magical to them still...
Oh another memory... have to share...sorry....
my grandparents lived within a reasonable distance to DL...actually near the Anaheim/Angels' stadium.. so sometimes when we were visiting, my grandpa would take me out into his backyard and we would watch the fireworks from DL and the stadium.... I really loved that.
I really cherish those memories with those who are gone and want my kids to have some of them with me and my husband.
And I think that this trip will be a good reward for Kaleb for all of his strength during his ordeal... just like the other kids....he's been extraordinary ... and as I read everyone else's PTR's and TR's I think they all are....
And since I've never been to WDW...this will be a new memory for all of us..I took my husband to DL, but that's his only experience. He grew up in Brazil as a missionary kid.... so he did different things...

Well I'm rambling again.... :rolleyes1

So I think if I can't find a bakery from here... I'll take your advice and ask a volunteer! and if all else fails I hit Walmart!:woohoo:

Guess What???? you can get a My first trip to Disney World pin!!! So you will all have a pin!!! WOO HOO!!!!!!!!

Those sound like wonderful memories! We were at DL this fall, and its very different than WDW in some ways! I think both are a lot of fun!!!! You guys are going to have a BLAST!!!!

What parties at GKTW are you going to try to do?

I know Christmas is a must, also we are going to try for the Pirates and Princess as well.... Mayor Claytons Bday party.... I don't know what is going on on the Monday we arrive but I think we'll do whatever that is.... I'm hoping they'll have something special for Easter like an egg hunt or something.....I don't have our plane schedule yet but I know they usually send you out early....and you come back on the later side.... so we should have time to enjoy GKTW that first day!

Woohoo for the pin! That owuld be awesome Wendy...!

When we went to Disney in 2007 our oldest son celebrated his BD...everybody gave him LOTS of BD wishes and one CM called him over to his cart and gave him a free popcorn...made our day! :yay: You are going to have LOTS of fun!

One time when I was there for my birthday I got a free churro!!!! lol...wear your buttons loud and proud!!! Just getting a lot of Happy Birthday's was fun. We were in line for Buzz Lightyear (and it was New Years Eve -thats my bday) and it was super crowded and the line twisted all around. A cast member spotted my button and climbed up on one of the planters there and had the whole line sing happy birthday to me!!! Also, the dapper dan's saw my button when I was watching them on mainstreet and they pulled me out of the crowd and then sang happy birthday to me!!! So fun!!! Make sure you write their names on their buttons!!! They will do that for you!!!!!;)

That sounds like a lot of fun... that will make it special for all the kids...Kaleb on his wish and the others with their bdays....I'll be the only one with out a button...but I get to watch them have their fun and when they have it I have it too! LOL
