Hi there!

I have no idea where to go in this forum, but I am wondering if anyone can offer me a direction? My daughter was recently given a wish that was JUST approved to Disney!! She has Rett Syndrome and is almost 17 years old. It will be myself, my DH, DD17, DD8 and DD4. We are so very excited and beyond shocked as well! I can't believe it is actually going to happen!

We are in the early processes still I guess. Waiting for the Dr.'s signature on the paperwork for the Ok to travel for the trip. Our rep suggested us to go to Disney in January or February for lighter crowd purposes. Has anyone here been on a MAW trip to Disney and can you offer any advise or some kind of insight on how it all works? How much spending money should we bring of our own? I know they cover a lot of stuff for you but I just want to make sure we are completely prepared. I just don't even know where to start!

Thank you in advance :)

Shelby

Welcome to the boards! There are actually a lot of people here who have done wish trips, so you should be hearing from them soon!

Also, there is a huge thread here on the board about Wish Trips you can check out.

Welcome to disABILITIES

You may have already found some if the resources here, but just in case you didn't, I'll point you to some.

First is the disABILITIES FAQs thread. There is a link to it in my signature or you can find it stuck near the top of this board. Post 1 of that thread has an index which tells which post in the thread is about what.
Post 3 has a lot of links which might be helpful and there is one section about MAW trips. One of the resources there is a link to the Wish Trippers United thread which is located on this board and is a place where you can get information and support from people who are planning or have been on Wish trips. That thread is usually close to the top of this board but if you don't see it you can use the link to get there.

Thank you for the information. I am just so overwhelmed right now with trying to even come up with a date to go! I was curious though, is there really a big difference between "low crowd" levels and "moderate crowd" levels? Our dates we are trying to choose from is from each of these times. The Moderate crowd may end up working better with our schedules but I want to make sure I will not be making a mistake with our choice. ;)

I think you will be totally fine! :)

You will have a GAC issued by Give Kids the World that has a special stamp for those families on wish trips and a button they will give you, too. Try to make sure the button can be easily seen by CM's.

This will really help you with the lines - You won't have to pick up fastpasses or anything - your button will act as the ultimate fastpass - so I think you will be fine. :)

The only reason a wish family may want to avoid crowds is just for the things that you can't control like waiting in line for food and just navigating the parks.

I never really thought about that Maroo! I guess we really wont be waiting in lines much other than for food or just navigating around. That's awesome! My family is just going to have the time of our lives! I never ever imagined that my entire family would ever be going to Disney ALL together. This will be the first trip for us all together and the first time my girls will fly----EVER! I am sooo excited! I should be getting dates next week! Cross your fingers!
