Finally got Matt into the mood to work on his Mickey hat. He didn't want to wear the tophat, so we ordered a custom baseball cap. He had a fun time with it (only took a few minutes) and he's looking forward to wearing it.

That looks amazing! I'm so jealous of your guys' handiwork! The Mickey top hats look sort of...odd. And when DF tried one on, it didn't fit right on his head. I'm now trying to convince him to wear something else.

Hey! You're getting married just a few days after me! If you're around before or after your date (we're Disneymooning that entire week), maybe we'll run into you (and we'll definitely know it's you by your cool guy Mickey ears!). How fun would that be?

That is so good-- and creative. I wish I was still in my planning stages-- we bought the tophat but DH wouldnt wear it-- i dont think it went on his head but in the store (and me-- i had to have it!). I think he definately would have worn a cap like that. Way to go-- it looks awesome!

Sorry to jump in. But Maggie got me thinking. Does anyone know the hat size of the Groom top hat?
It seems to now fit alot of guys well. I might have to come up with something else. Could someone maybe measure theirs? Thanks

princessdisneybelle, I think the hat is too small for most guys. Something about the shape and definitely something to do with the material. It's not fabric like a regular cap is; it's more like...plastic? So when a guy puts it on, it sits on top of his head instead of snuggly fitting over it. Does that make sense?

Laura ill find the tape and measure it tonight. I would definately try to make one if you want DH to wear one-- it seems they are too small (like purplegirl said) and their head bulges and stuff because of the plastic. They are expensive to be so cheaply made. I recommend making one for sure! I wish we had-- DH would have LOVED the cap!

That's amazing!! I always thought they should have a different option than the top hat - after all the brides have the option of the traditional style "mickey" brides ears or the headband style.. why not the guys, too? Be careful that Disney doesn't steal that idea!

Df refuses to wear top hat as well--and rightly so, its too small and very uncomfortable. We bought a grrom baseball cap from Davids Bridal and we will be trying to attach ears to it from another mickey hat we have. I love the way you attached the ears to yours...we were thinking of taking it to a shoemaker and have him attach it with rivots

I sort of did the same thing as a rivet (just with a brad). The hat fabric never gets tight enough to hold the weight of the ear, so it sways back and forth, up and down (like Dumbo's ears). You need something inside to provide some 'solid backing'.

My DH's head was too big for the top hat. So our compromise (wish I had seen the baseball cap idea - that's great!) was to get the '06 Mickey ears ('cause that's the year we got married) and had "Groom" embroidered on the back. I wore my wedding ears and he wore that.
