Just heard about them . . . and I am starting to get a little worried. Any one have news about this? Or am I the only one worried? :(

Well, Matthew is loooooong gone. Came nowhere near FL and Nicole is nowhere near us. So I believe, you worry for nothing. ;)

Yes we had the delightful pleasure of Nicole's company Sunday - it was fine - wet, windy. Bermuda needed the rain and we are thankful for Nicole.

Funny because this is my name - lots of jokes as you can imagine.
There has been a Nicole before a few years ago at end of season.

If you are concerned about tropical weather may I suggest you watch the Weather Channel's Tropical Update at 10 to the hour - xx:50.

No worries - the Atlantic is getting colder so it's harder for the big storms to form this time of year.

Suppose to get some drizzly rain today from Mathew. No real winds involved.

LOL Coli, My name is Nicole also! My 13 year old has been kidding me about this all season! He was sure this one would take out the whole eastern sea board.

Ha nickimouse! same thing in our family - though it's a statement of how active the Atlantic season has been that it's October and they are on N.

She dumped 6.25 inches of rain on our lovely little island - we needed it.

Actually Matthew is not long gone. Fortunately it's just a wave but is spreading a lot of rain over central and south FL today. Nothing like tropical storm or hurricane status though.

Supposed to get a little cooler and dryer in FL at week's end...YIPPEE!! We'd love some of those 60s and 70s...especially at WDW:tongue:

my ds is called matthew and we were sure it would give us a big hit when we are in florida( he's a mini hurricane all on his own;) )

As we're speaking of hurricane names, my DS, Ivan, was thrilled that his name was chosen this year. He was thrilled that it not only hit once, but twice and that it was one of the strongest hurricanes ever recorded.

FWIW, he's 9 and doesn't understand the devistation that it also brought. He finally realized that it wasn't such a cool thing when we saw a picture in our local paper of one of my friends in a row boat, being rescued from her home.

When he saw that, he realized that hurricanes are nothing to be proud of, but he still thinks it was cool that they used his name.

RUDisney,

I was thinking about you when I read the VacationExpress news. Who's flying you down now? I just booked with USAir for a Jan. 1 flight, and just to keep this thread sort of on-topic, Ivan (the storm) deposited 3 feet of water in my basement. Hope your trip goes well!

Guess what I get today...Matthew...We are in Canada and it's VERY windy today...and we are not getting the brunt of it like Halifax must be...

Thank goodness I am leaving on Vacation tommorrow and won't be here when it really hits on Wednesday.:duck: Djucked that one...

our family has decided that this yr of hurricanes is over....here's our take on it....

Over 25yrs ago or so on Sept 3rd, my BIL's birthday, Hurricane David (my DH's name) hit us in West Palm Beach pretty bad

This yr on Sept 3rd, BIL's bday, Hurricane Frances (grandmother's name) hit WPB bad.

So, we've checked the list of names for this yr's hurricane season and we are ALL CLEAR. We have no relatives or birthdays that would coincide. So, we here have officially decided we have the all-clear to plan any/all vacations!

Okay, so it's NOT scientific BUT it works for us:tongue:

Photobearsam,

I think you'll find that that's sub-tropical storm NICOLE going towards Halifax not Matthew. ... matthew was in the Gulf and went into US from there. Nicole was in Atlantic, formed next (on top of) Bermuda.

:)
