Anyone ever heard of this?
We were at DL yesterday and we ate lunch at the Carnation Cafe. The hostess came over to our table a couple of times to chat. My 4 y/o old was crying for no good reason, so I thought she was annoying everyone, but then the hostess came over and and announced very loudly that we were being given the Matterhorn Sundae. The chef came out and brought it out, it was a huge Sundae with about 5 scoops of Ice cream and they "challenged" us to finish it. It was me, DH, my sister and two kids, we finished it no problem. They gave us a certificate that we met the challenge and gave us a pin from the monorail cafe and were just very nice. She told us that one family a day get awarded this Sundae, it is the biggest Sundae in DL and they no longer serve it. They usually give a fastpass to Matterhorn, but since it was closed we could pick another ride(we picked Splash).
I have been going to DL forever and have never heard of this before. It really made our day and my DD stopped crying for quite a while.
This was a nice little treat before our trip to WDW.

Though I've never had it, I remember that sundae being on the menu from a long time ago--way back before the bakery took over what was the inside portion of the restaurant.

Cool! I love that. I think that type of stuff adds to the magic of Disney. I can't wait to go back. :)

I've never heard of this either but that's so cool! BTW, have a great time at your upcoming trip to WDW. I'm sooo jealous!

I do think I would have had to go in the exit for Matterhorn. It was on a different little card and I am so lame that I forgot to take a picture of it, of course I had to give it up. I did get something similar once when they were having trouble with the computers once when we were renewing our passes. It was a card to go to the front of any line, sort of a thanks for being so patient thing.

OH MY!!! This brings me back....to about 1970!! My two sisters & my best friend and I went to Disneyland and ordered and ate the "Mammoth Matterhorn Mountain"! I'm sure it's the same sundae - served at the Carnation restaurant right there in Main Street.

Wow - I hadn't thought of that for a long time!!
