We (Me, DH, DD9, DS7, DD3) are going to be at DL on june 18 - arriving mid day and the only day the matterhorn will be open while we are there (going to beach on Sunday) -- so I'm expecting it to be mobbed, but we're willing to endure the line since this is our first time at DL(been to WDW several times). My question is do they have rider switch for this ride & will they let us use it even though my 3 year old is tall enough to ride? I think this ride would scare the you know what out of her and could possibly ruin the chances of her going on any other rides -- she doesn't like anything that goes even remotely fast.

Yes they do. Just ask the CM at the line. They may or may not let you get a rider switch pass. What you may be able to do is all wait in line, send all but 1 parent and the 3 yr old on the ride, wait until they exit the ride (possibly in the exit area), pass off the 3 year old and the other parent can ride. Ask the CM how to best handle it.

Thanks. I'm fine with all waiting in line. I just didn't want to have to wait in line twice to get us all through.

If your 3 year old is tall enough to ride, but doesn't want to, they will usually let you switch. At least they have always allowed us to with the DS4 after he tells them he's scared. Sometimes he'll even go on it once and the adults want to go again but he'll decline and the CM's are very nice about it and high-five him for being brave the first time.

This is how we did it the 2 times we did Matterhorn. We all waited in line and when we got to the end they had me (with baby) stand behind the red line at the loading/unloading area. Once my party was done I passed the baby off and took my daughter on with me. So she got to go twice in a row.

Does it work for an adult? Like, when we go back (we got APs!), it will just be me, DH and our girls. Both girls want to ride, but DH not so much (motion sickness issues). Could we rider swap DH so both girls could take turns riding? Or will they let DD6 ride w/o an adult with her?
