Matterhorn Refurb

Phone line now states refurbishment dates are 9/22-9/24

Woo Hoo!!!! Hope it stays there as we're headed to DL earlier in September and I ALWAYS missed this ride when I was little because there just weren't enough E-ticket coupons.

Listen to that phone line again. It names matterhorn down twice. First time earlier in the recording it states the Aug - Nov dates. Later it mentions it again being down for the three days. Must be some error but I don't get how someone hasn't caught it and changed it to reflect reality.

I will be there from 9/4 - 9/7 and Disney is just now loading the schedules for that week....it does NOT list Matterhorn as being down...so maybe the late September dates are accurate?

I called the phone line last week for our trip the week of Sept. 15th. Matterhorn was listed as down for refurb. This is the first time my DS is tall enough to ride it, so I was hoping all the schedules without it were accurate. Apparently not.

Why would it be on the phone line but not the actual website or daily schedule? This is why planning these Disney trips are so difficult they don't seem to care about how they communicate to the public. Some people planning their trip may really want to know if it'd down or not.

So I just called again and the line is now saying 22nd to the 24th and has dropped the long refurbishment completely. Just two days ago it was included. So it looks like we may be in luck. How does a major, long term refurbishment make it onto a the closure list for so long though when it wasn't accurate?

Fingers crossed that it's only down for a couple days. Our early Oct. trip may be a once in a lifetime deal and as WDW vets we are really hoping to do all the DL only rides - matterhorn is classic Walt!

714-781-4636 is the number. I can't see anything on disney official that has the long Matterhorn refurbishement but they do have it on this site listed so who knows.

Matterhorn has been closed more often than not during our visits over the past 11 years. I think it's been running during only 2 of our visits. Granted, we've generally only been getting to do a DLR vacay once every 2-3 years, but our stays are usually 5+ days ( and we did visit in two consecutive years once during that timeframe) - but ya...at this rate we're always surprised when it IS running. Noticing bobsleds racing around the mountain is like a Bigfoot sighting.

Matterhorn is Disney's oldest coaster. It is in desperate need of a major overhaul (i.e, Space Mtn or BTMRR). The ride is too rough for many. Disney has made so many improvements to their coasters, they need to do this to Matterhorn. Sure, it would have to go down for a couple of years, but I think it would be worth it.

Ooooh hope it stays open for October! :) I can't ride it (pregnant) but I love the atmosphere it lends to that area of the park, with its waterfalls, screaming people in bobsleds, and yeti roaring.

If they redo the Matterhorn ride later on, great, as long as they don't do something like put a FROZEN overlay on it! :crazy2:

Loved the movie Frozen, but I would hate to see it applied to the Matterhorn. Frankly, I hate the Johnny Depp business they added to Pirates. I actually like the Matterhorn just the way it is, bumpy track and all!

This has happened to me with IASW every single time we've visited the parks, which also happens to be 3 times!

I road it a couple weeks ago after it's extended rehab and it looked fantastic, just watch out for the Christmas overlay downtown and you should be good.

Now that BTMRR is back up and running I would be fine with them closing the Matterhorn for the same treatment they gave BTMRR even if it did take 2 years. I love the Matterhorn but it's borderline painful at times and could really benefit from new track.

I'm definitely ok with this ride bring closed for our visit. It was closed last time as well.

definitely hoping this one is open when we visit early November. Touring plans now shows it open on the dates we are there (Nov 2-5) whereas a month ago they showed it as closed.

I just hope its open, not because it's an amazing ride, but it helps funnel line traffic. One less attraction means more people in other lines.

So I'm going to assume this ride is open first three weeks of September. The main site doesn't have it down on daily schedule. Phone number refurbishment list doesn't have it so why does this site continue to list it. Are they seeing something we're not.

Also what about the Space Mountain refurb. Nothing about that listed in September?
