Matterhorn now has a Seat Cushion

I'm shocked they added seat cushions with no major refurb! Wow. Every time I ride it, I think "No more!" but I still keep riding! :rotfl2:

They added side cushions to Mater without a major refurb.

So I'm guessing that enough people were actually injured enough that they went to First Aid, and those added up. That's what happened with Mater, afterall! (and my son was one of them, with the nurses there checking out his cheek to make sure he hadn't gotten a fracture because he hit the HARD side of the Mater car so hard during the ride.

It is rough and bumpy, but I still loved it on my DLR trip last Sept/Oct. The new visual and sounds effects were fun, and the new yetis looked like a million bucks (probably cost that much, too). I only dared do the Fantasyland side, though. I heard the Tomorrowland side is rougher.

I always fold up a coat and sit on that. I agree cushions are overdue.

Appreciate the info. It has been closed our last 2 visits. Will try the Fantasyland side.

I guess Disneyland finally listened to its guests and updated the Matterhorn vehicles with seat cushions last week.
It makes a HUGE difference in the ride experience.

GREAT JOB DISNEYLAND!
Thrilled to hear this. I love the matterhorn and was incredibly disappointed at how much it hurt to ride in November!

About time they tried something. I was just at Disneyworld a couple weeks ago, and riding their space mountain which the seats/cars are very similar to matterhorn but way more comfortable due to cushion in the seat and back rest,
Why they didn't use the same blueprint/ method is absurd . That matterhorn refurb will go down in history as one of the worst ever imo.. Making a once fun attraction far less enjoyable.

I visited WDW in January and had the same thought
WDW SM also uses a "T" shaped lap bar rather than a seat belt:

Still thought that Space Mountain at WDW was quite rough even with the padding. Probably due to a Matterhorn type ride being in the dark and not seeing where you are going next.

The trick with the Matterhorn at Disneyland is that you shouldn't rest your back on the vehicle. Just sit upright and hold the bar in front of you. It makes a world of difference.

It looks like those just bolted in, perhaps?

I'm sure it's an improvement, that hard plastic sure isn't too comfy on the behind.

Were cushions in their plan all along and then a bean counter got hold of it? Because those look like they belong there! ;)

Exactly what I was thinking. They totally match the back rest.

Space at WDW vs Matterhorn pre-cushions? I'm taking Matterhorn. Space at MK destroys me.

When I read this news this morning, I might have cheered a little. Even if they aren't great, it's better than nothing.
