Matterhorn is fine, if not better with the new cars!

There certainly have been plenty of Matterhorn threads expressing passionate opinions since the refurb. I've been riding the Horn for over 40 years, and it has always been one of my top 3 Dland rides. I still remember that magic night in the late '60s when my mom finally said I was old enough to ride on it with cousin Mary who'd been riding it for years and making me so jealous. It was at night, and my cousin and I snuggled down into a bobsled seat together and screamed our heads off from start to finish. It was by far the biggest thrill of my little kid life. Since then of course I've been on it hundreds of times w/ school friends, w/ a number of boyfriends and now w/ my husband and kids. I love that ride. I loved the first big refurb they did when they added all the interior snow/ice and the yeti (though I still kind of miss seeing the old Skyway buckets moving through the interior). This most recent refurb gets a mixed rating from me. I love the new single rider line. I've rarely waited more than a couple of minutes in it which makes back to back rides a new treat. I am a shortie so the size of the new seats is just fine for me though I do miss snuggling up w/ my loved ones in the old two-person configuration. It's always been bumpy so no complaint from me on that. My biggest beef is that it seems a bit slower overall, especially on the Fantasyland side. The bobsleds feel a tad sluggish compared to pre-refurb. But it is still a great ride and one unique to Dland.

What is the difference in the new sleds from the old ones? I have been on the old sleds many times, I actually didn't know they were changing them!? We are going in a few weeks and I am curious. Sounds like people are saying it is hard to stay in the seats...so I am a little nervous about my 6 year old DD riding it...she did fine last trip but I sort of held her in her seat lol. She is tiny-36 pounds.

It isn't hard to stay in the seat at all, but you will slide around in them and they are hard so it hurts. lol And man I had issues getting up.....I mean I did get up on my own but it was a lot more fun when DBF and I rode in 1 car together. :) It's not like I'm going to stop riding the Matterhorn, I just wish the seats were a little more comfy.
