So yesterday I was on the disney blog site and they had a video of the matterhorn and all the new improvements. They showed the new vehicles and they look so cool. However being that you are not sitting with someone else will they still have the same height limit or will it be moved up? My daughter is going with us this summer and she will be 3 and she is aprrox. 36" right now. She is fearless so I think after we have been there for more than one day we could try this ride being that she has no issues with other rides. Should we be able to ride the matterhorn this summer or will the height limit change to that of Splash Mountain?????:confused3

This has been a topic of discussion since they first announced these changes would be taking place, but I haven't read anything either way about whether the height requirement will change. Sorry I can't be of more help. Maybe someone else has heard something? :confused3

No official word but most expect the height requirement to go up.

I think they will raise it. I'm really bummed about the new seat config's, my DD4 loves this ride and I don't know how she will do all by herself if she is even tall enough now. I hope so. This is a really fun ride for the little ones as well as us little ones at heart :)

I'm so sad. My DD will be 4 when we go - she is already 39", but I don't know if she will be brave enough to sit by herself. We watch YouTube videos and I tell her it's mommy's favorite ride (besides Dumbo!) so hopefully she will tough it out if she is tall enough.

If its anything like Splash in DL or Space Mt in WDW (both with similar seating to the new bobsleds), I've been able to reach up and "hold onto" DD when she sits in front of me.

Yes I've been wondering about this too. I was actually wondering if there is any chance they would still allow parents to double up with their small children in a seat? We've been to Disneyland twice, the first time The Matterhorn was closed and the second trip we were on time restraints and never ended up braving the lines. So we've never been on it yet! I'm kinda bummed that we missed out on the old seating arrangement, because even though I'm really afraid of coasters I had been looking forward to experiencing this ride for the first time, while holding on to my equally coaster-shy kids  :scared: :scared1:  lol! Hope we will be able to enjoy it seated separately...or that I'll even be able to get my kids on it... :confused3 (even though they will definitely be above the height limit lol )

ive never heard of a height limit on the matterhorn before... i didnt think you could be too tall to ride it.

I'm gonna be the downer here. I wouldn't care if they raised the height. When we went and I took my daughter, who was 2 at the time, I had SERIOUSLY wished I hadn't. She LOOOOVED it! I HATED it. The whole time I was trying to 'soften' the turns for her (which of course hurt ME lol)

This is all being said by someone whose kids are total daredevils and we LOVE that about them. This one just..didn't feel 'right' to me. I dunno? Anyway. Even if it doesn't get raised, I won't take my new 2 year old on it this year LOL. For those of you who hope it stays the same, I'll hope for it for you too! But I can totally see it getting raised..the lap bars won't be as secure for a kid that height I don't think??
