BJ's Wholesale, Costco or Big Lots all have these really nice mattresses (comfy, comfy) for about $100. Be careful when buying mattresses to make sure what the maximum mattress height is on your top bunk. You can go with a thicker one on the bottom, but we tried a thicker one on the top and it just didn't work, put my son too close to the top of the rail.
I've bought about 6 sets of twin beds from Sam's. Very happy.
I bought 4 sets for New Orleans after Katrina because it was almost impossible to get deliveries afterwards. I'm on the 6th floor so I couldn't carryanything up by myself and the elevator wouldn't hold anything bigger than a twin.
I put two together with a foam topper so almost be a king. I had lots of guests who raved about how comfortable it was.
I'm an older woman and yet I was able to go by myself, load the mattresses and box springs and bring home two sets in my old odyssey (smaller than current one).
We bought a new twin mattress about 1 1/2 years ago. We didn't get the top of the line, but it wasn't the cheapest possible one that the store had. We asked some friends and shopped around. I buy from Sams all the time, so I figured that was where we would purchase it, also went to a furniture store going out of business. There was a small local store that we ended up getting the mattress from and it was $100 for the mattress & box springs. Guests will occasionally sleep on the bed so we wanted something a little comfier. We have been very pleased and plan to purchase more from them in the future.
I agree with the PPs who suggested Sams. I have bought several mattresses and mattress sets from there and have been pleased with them especially versus price.
