Matching Waitlists-I wonder if it is possible

I have always wondered if they could match up waitlist requests...I doubt they have the ability to do so, but it would be great to see if it is possible.

We have a waitlist for a 2bdr-Savannah View Dedicated at Kidani for our late Sept Trip, and I look at it and wonder if someone else is out there looking at their Kidani 2Bd-Savannah View lock-off waitlist for the same time period.

It would be great if we could link up with the other waitlists to make each other very happy.

The problem becomes how would they know if you want the waitlist instead of rather than in addition to your current reservation. They could add a checkbox on the waitlist screen, but it still sounds like a logistical nightmare.

The waitlist request asks if this is replacing one of your current reservations and the reservation number, that would take care of that issue

What if someone else is on the waitlist for a dedicated 2B and is ahead of the person who currently has the 2B lock off? I doubt very much if DVC wants to get in the business of deciding issues like that.

The objective for the membership as a whole is to get rooms booked. DVC doesn't care which Member gets a particular room. There is no benefit to the membership as a whole to spend Club Resources to match up waitlists so individual members can trade reservations.

While I don't think it would work with waitlists, it would be nice if say we found someone on Facebook, etc. That has the reservation we want and we gave a reservation they want to be able to trade reservations without just changing names on the reservations, but switch which account each is on to avoid potential issues with one party canceling. I could see it working where both parties must verify the change before the switch is made.

I don’t think they could do that because in essence, you are talking having them change a reservation from one membership to another. That would mean MS having to cancel, hold it, and rebook in the new members account.

I can’t even do that between by two memberships. I would not be a fan of that change as it then makes a waitlist useless for many.

I can't imagine the odds of finding compatible switches would be anywhere near being worthwhile dedicating the resources to accomplish it. It really would have to follow the 1st come 1st served rule so only if each were at the top of their waitlist and matched identically. It may not be a million to one odds but then again it might be.

Odds are extremely low that rooms and nights would match up, and even if they did, you'd likely be skipping the line of people with other overlapping waitlists. It sounds like a nice idea when you're hoping to get a specific room, but it's a terrible idea when you look at it from the entire membership perspective.
