I can't decide if I should make/buy the family matching shirts. Typically, I'm not really into the matchy-matchy thing. BUT, I do like the idea of it being easy to spot family members, since we're wearing the same shirt. (We have 5 kids; we're constantly looking and counting to make sure every one is with us.) I'd love to hear what YOU do! Also, if you do have them, what do your kids think? (I have a 12 year old daughter who might think it's totally lame to wear the same shirts as her siblings.)

- Do you do matching shirts?
- Do you buy them somewhere or make them yourself?
- If you buy them, from where? (Personalized shirts or just all the same?)

I vote YAY! Our big extended family always does matching shirts at DL. It seriously makes it so much easier to keep track of everyone each day. We have had shirts made at a local business and also just bought all the same color shirt (or even different styles of shirts but same color....DH likes button up shirts, my parents prefer polo shirts, etc).

One year we bought Disney hawaiian shirts and wore them to the parks and on another vacation, we wore them on the plane to Hawaii! My mom swears you get better treatment from the flight attendants if they think you are a "fun family".

We normally wear matching Old Navy shirts on 4th of July too so we always take those shirts to wear one day on a Disney vacation.

My kids aren't too hip on wearing the shirts but luckily enough, they love their grandma and do it for her!!

We are not a matching shirt family. What we do is wear matching or complimentary colored shirts (all white shirts or boys in blue, girls in pink). I do it less for safety and more so our photos look nice. :)

We happen to live 20 miles from a Disney Outlet Store, so were able to get matching t-shirts at a somewhat reasonable price (and the VISA discount helped as well). We love the pictures!

We're trying it this trip 11/11 to 11/18. My two young adult daughters, 4-year-old granddaughter, and 2 year-old grandson. We made two different tie dye shirts with a Mickey head on the front. They turned out really cute and we had a great time making them. We are also all wearing Oregon Ducks shirts one day, of different styles. :cool1:

We did matching shirts for one day out of a 5 day vacation, and I LOVED it! I know it can be cheesy, but it was so nice to be able to see the members of our family so easily! I knew what t-shirt to look for. I'm not sure if it was because that the t-shirts matched or that they were brightly colored tie-dyed shirts. Maybe it was more the pattern than the matching, but it was easy to see them. We ordered red, white and blue tie-dyed mickey mouse shirts from Etsy. https://www.etsy.com/transaction/212591694
They weren't personalized - just the same shirt in different sizes. And, we got a ton of compliments about our shirts while we were there, and even get compliments when we just wear them at home on the weekends wishing we were back at Disneyland!!

I have always wanted to do the family shirt thing but my family would never go for it. :(

I wish!! But my family are very firm on their no's!! :sad1:
I say go for it! I love seeing families at the parks matchy.

Have a magical time!

My family is small but crazy. The shirt thing started out lame to my , then 13 year old, son.
Disney brings out the fun and silly in people. It didn't take long for all of us to have fun with shirt thing.

No, we're not into it, but if you are then go for it! Hey, it's Disney...have fun!

My kids are teens and wouldn't be into it. But, I love to see families in matching shirts at the park. Especially some of the clever homemade ones.

My DS13 and DS3 (at the time) and 2 nephews, and a friend all wore matching red athletic t-shirts one year. It was so easy to keep track of the little ones and looked so cute in pictures!! I thought my older son was a good sport to wear the same shirt. I purchased 3 matching elf pj's for the boys to get pictures with Santa at the GCH this Christmas. I did purchase my DS (now 15) pj's that say "Head Elf". We will see if he honors his word and gets photographed in them. :)

Total Yay! We have done matching colors. Not the exact same shirt or color but all purple one. Also matching character day. All animal, or Mickey themed no matter the color. It is a blast bought and diy.

Make sure to meet Goofy in your Ducks shirts... He's a fan, and actually pulled us from his meet-n-greet line once, so excited, pointing to hubby's shirt and doing an "O" above his head. It was awesome :)

This is more our style--not exactly the same, but somehow "matched." We've done the Oregon Ducks thing before, or Mickey-and-Minnie day, etc.

Love the Ducks shirts! Did you know Disney used to have a development studio in Eugene. They closed it about a year ago, but this is the team that wrote Disney City Girl (a Facebook game).

We did the matching shirts last year to WDW. There were 10 of us (DH's parents and brother's family, as well as us) I made us all tye-dye shirts. We all got into it. I do think that we got a little extra pixie dust from wearing them. The best were the comments from the CM at the Haunted Mansion. I say go for it!

I usually make shirts for our family trips. Only once did we do matching ones, but my kiddos like having something a little more special for the trip and then they have shirts to wear at home too. I usually use iron on sheets that you print on the printer (I find images on Google and then design them in a word document) and then just iron on plain shirts. This next trip I am doing some experimenting with and iron on material I found that I can cut on my cricut! I have pictures of all my shirts somewhere...but not sure how to attach them.

If I didn't have to be the one to think it up, design it, order it, pack it - then I would do it. If someone else took the initiative and thought up something fun for us all to wear and then realized that plan- then great - would be a blast. Right now I am just thrilled that I get us all to the parks with some kind of weather appropriate attire and a place to sleep and the correct ticket media.

Nay. It's just not my thing. But if you like it and your family is up for it...go for it. If I were into it, I'd probably find cheap matching shirts at Target or somewhere. If I wanted to spend more, I'd go on Etsy.

I just don't think family members should be forced into it. It would only be fun if everyone wanted to do it.

I'm not a fan of the matching family shirts. I don't think I could talk my dh or 12 and 14 year olds into it if I wanted to. I like to dress my little one up in character outfits to for meet and greets and my older kids just pick shirts they like. Having said that, if your family likes the idea, as many do, I say go for it. Enjoy your trip!
