What was your take on the
Legoland Hotel? Looking to take my kids (7,5,2) in April or June of next year for a few nights and looking for any information for people who have stayed there. Thanks in advance!!!
I liked the LL Hotel, but felt it was really overpriced. Of course, you are paying for location and the activities, but the hotel itself didn't really seem worth it to me. It has a resort fee which just drives me nuts. I think total we spent about $350 for the one night. However, it was DD's birthday and her request, so I'm glad we did it, but I wouldn't do it again for more than $200 a night.
We were in a kingdom themed room, and it was cute. DD loved having the bunk bed and her own little room. The little treasure hunt they had set up was fun for DD, but I don't think she really liked the Mixel
Lego sets that she got as a prize. I was really put off by the list that was posted on the wall of the prices of things (like the ice bucket) if you took them home with you. It felt cheap to me. We were missing something from the toiletries set in the bathroom (shampoo or something, I don't remember now) but I didn't ask for a replacement because we were just there for one night. The toiletries weren't anything special. Also, the towels were weirdly stored outside the bathroom on a shelf, so you had to remember to get one before going into the bathroom. The lamp by my bed didn't work, but I didn't complain about it since it was just one night.
The Lego play area in the lobby was cool and DD liked it. The evening games in the lobby seemed fun. DD liked those. There was a building contest with a theme, but it was during DD's Master Builder class, so she skipped that. She did come back for the pajama party. She didn't go back to the room to put on her pajamas, but I was surprised at the number of kids who were actually wearing their pajamas. My problem with the activities was that there was a DJ and the music was unbelievably loud. I finally just put my fingers in my ears, otherwise I couldn't have stayed. It's a small space so I don't know why it was so loud.
They had characters walking around the lobby all afternoon and it was really easy to see them. DD was ecstatic that she met one of the Lego Friends. There was no one else in the lobby, and they chatted for probably ten minutes. I was happy to meet Brickbeard because I love his show in LL. I also saw an astronaut guy Lego man hanging out.
We didn't go to the pool. We were at LL during the day and then the pool closed during the evening lobby activities. It didn't look like anything extravagant from what I saw.
The room includes breakfast in the lobby restaurant. I guess this is where a bigger family would get more value. When you check in at the front desk when you first get to the hotel you have to pick a time frame that you would like to eat. I don't remember exactly, but it was something like 7:00-8:00, 8:00-9:00, or 9:00-10:00. We picked whatever was the latest time. We got to the lobby during our appointed time, and the line was stretched out way into the lobby. We waited at least 20 minutes just to get into the restaurant. The restaurant itself was almost empty, but they were only seating people at a few tables. It was pretty ridiculous. There were tables covered in dirty dishes everywhere. The staff were all very nice. The food was pretty good. I don't remember it being amazing, but I didn't hate it either. There were a couple of characters who went around talking to people. I think we were the last people to leave the restaurant.
The self-parking (included in resort fee) is a bit of a walk. There is a closer valet lot, or you could just drop off your party at the door, then go park. We just walked to the self parking.
I hope some of this helps. It was a cute place to stay, but for the price I wish it had been a bit nicer. I like to stay at the Beach Club at WDW, and I just kept thinking that for $350 I could have stayed at the BC! LOL
I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have. I'm going to be doing some traveling and won't be able to answer for a couple of weeks, but I'd be happy to do it when I get back.
