Massive litter in the hub following 4th fireworks

Sadly this is the norm after holiday crowds. New Years Eve is worse because people just pitch the hats and blowers on the floor. Heaven forbid people walk stuff at least near a garbage can even if the nearest one is full there is usually a CM frantically trying to switch the bags out.

I wish that the photographer had checked out the trash cans. I've been at events where they were overflowing and people seem to get more trashy when that happens. Not that there is ever an excuse for this - at least get it by the trash can or better yet find one that isn't as full if that's a problem.

And this is why I worry about people being allowed to trade housekeeping for gift-cards! ;) Sure, some will keep things neat, but some certainly won't!
I was thinking the same thing. For every family that keeps their room neat and tidy, there will be one that will leave food, drinks, wet towels laying around, bringing bugs, mold, etc. Not good. o_O

Nothing new.
Pretty much. I was at the American Gardens Theater tonight and after each of the three performances by the Voices of Liberty, custodial and event staff had to go in and pick up the mess before the next show. It comes with the territory.

It's not just at Disney.
We have a week long outdoor music festival here. It's held on our city streets, which are closed for the week. There are trash bins everywhere, and recycling cans everywhere. Most of those are flat empty but the streets are filled with trash. People just throw the crap down instead of putting it in bins. People just don't care any more. About anything.

When I was a carney I'd see events after everyone left a lot. Many of the music festivals just looked like a landfill afterwards. When I was in college, you could get paid $15/hr to clean up the stadium or arena after a game. They actually used leaf blowers there was so much stuff left behind. They'd blow it into big piles and use shovels to put it into bins.

As far as people not caring any more, caring about litter is actually a pretty new concept over the last ~50ish years. Unfortunately the vast majority of people put themselves first, to the point that a minor inconvenience to them is far more important than a major inconvenience to others, part of being human.

I even saw a new trend when we were there in May - people ditching their Disney strollers in the viewing areas after the fireworks. I don't know if there is a deposit to rent one - but if there is they need to up it to a couple of hundred dollars.

I will never understand the mentality folks have when they treat the World around thm this badly. I will say tha tpeer pressure can help. Yesterday we had a group of 12 people working on our farm. I always bring coffee and breakfast sandwiches for a mid morning break, and have a trash back available. I looked behind me and saw that one of the men had tossed his empty sugar packets and creamer containers on the ground, but before I could say something a few of the guys snapped at him and he was quickly picking his mess up.

I bring iced Gatorade when the sun is high as well, and the day I pick up plastics and trash off my field is the last day breakfast and beverages other than water is provided.
