Anyone gotten a massage or pedicure on Fantasy? How was your experience? Also, are there discounts if we book onboard (vs booking in advance)? Thanks!

My Husband and I did the Couples Swedish Massage and was worth every penny. Next time, I'll say no to the products they try and push.

I had the Elemis hot stone massage and it was amazing- I liked the 90 min length. Sometimes I don't start to really relax until the end of a 50 min massage.

My wife & I have done massages on board all the DCL ships. We really enjoy them. Wouldn't do the pedicure on board though since we get them regularly at home so its nothing special -- its also much cheaper at home!

There are often specials on massages on port days. Watch the Navigator for announcements.

I bought my husband a Swedish massage on our September cruise and he did not really enjoy it as much as I had hoped. He said it was more of a sales pitch to buy product as well as to upsell on other services.
I bought my daughter a mani/pedi from Chill spa for her 15th birthday (also September Fantasy cruise) and she loved it. The nail polish was long lasting and they did an excellent job of talking to her and making her feel special.
I was considering a hot stone massage for my husband and I to try on our upcoming cruise in February...I will have to see if they have any openings.

I had the Elemis hot stone massage as well. Divine. I really have never splurged like that on a cruise before, but I would absolutely do it again.

I'm not sure if it's because I noted it on the form at the beginning or because my lady just rocked, but she didn't try to sell me anything at all.

I've done manis (I don't do pedis as I need the tough spots to stay for taekwondo) on Holland America and RCCL (they both use the same spa contractor I believe) and honestly I've gotten better treatments at home. I don't recall manis or pedis ever being included in the specials I've seen on board - even the percentage off thing you "win" if you lose the raffle it's usually for a specialty treatment.

As far as massages, again, I'm very picky and have never gotten any as good as from the guy I use here (who is the company masseur for a professional dance company).

The only spa thing I'll spend money on is the Rainforest Room or equivalent. But only if they've got the heated tile loungers!!

I recently did a message on the Fantasy. Very relaxing. I pre purchased a rainforest room pass and had an amazing morning one sea day. I wrote on my paper "no product sales please" and my person did not try to sell me a thing.

Thanks everyone! Great tip on "no product sales please". How do you pre purchase a rainforest room pass? I don't see it... maybe it's already all booked...

I never get a pedi at home. I have a disability and I don't like going to a salon where i feel like they're talking about me in a different language. But I always treat myself on a cruise. I find them absolutely heavenly. My feet feel like gold after 45 mins of pampering.

I got a pedicure on the Fantasy last December. She used the hot stones to massage my legs. I really didn't think it was that much better than the one i get at home and it was triple what i pay at home.

I haven't done a pedi, but I've done two "fire and ice" manicures. I won't do them again. I find the sales pitch nonsense to be annoying, especially after telling them I won't be purchasing any products. Because then comes the upcharge pitch right behind it. I also didn't think either gal did a particularly good paint job. The first time it all chipped off within 2 days. The second time I brought my own polish, and it lasted plenty long, but I think I could have done a better paint job myself. The hot stone massage element of it is nice enough. But for the price I'd go to a local place instead before the cruise.

Skip it. You'll pay 2-3 times what it would cost at home. Spa services are way overpriced and no better than what you get on land.

Just wanted to say that the sales pitch at the end is a highly variable experience. I've had the "hard sell" and I've had no sell at all. I think its somewhat dependent on the therapist and possibly your own body language as to how receptive they think you might be. So, don't be scared off by reports of high pressure sales.

I'm overweight and carry most of my excess pounds in my mid-section. I got a massage on a cruise ship and after the massage the therapist informed me that I was retaining a lot of fluid in my abdomen. (i was pretty sure this was real fat and not liquid cooking oil) She tried to sell me a small bottle of oil, about the size eye drops come in. She explained to me that if I put one drop of her oil (just one drop mind you) anywhere on my body once a day my excess abdominal fluid would go away. All for the low, low price of $125. Um. yeah, right. . .that'll do it.
