So we moved to CA in May of 2008 after living most of our lives in the great state of MASS confusion.

MASS is holding a special election to fill the Senate seat previously held by the late Ted Kennedy on Tuesday, January 19th.

I am understanding that this is a very heated race between Martha Coakley and Scott Brown.

The funny thing is I have been getting all these political calls here to my CA home on my CA home land line to remember to get to the polls and vote. DH & I are laughing yet a bit confused as how they got our CA landline.

Curt Schilling, Bill Clinton, someone named Kit, are all calling?????

I HATE these calls and I am in MA. How on earth did they get your CA number?:rotfl:

:lmao: We cannot figure this out at all. Friday night we were out and got home to a message on our machine. "Hello, this is Curt Schilling"....wow, we were taken aback but then he went on and on about the race....

Now being from Boston it was hysterical hearing Curt's voice but then when we realized it was for "remember get to the polls on Tuesday"...it was even funnier!!! :lmao:

Bill called and now this a.m. very early for us, someone named Kit. :headache:

It is getting ridiculous. In the last 24 hours we have had 16 calls.

Sunday morning a conservative christian group called and were talking anti gay marriage and then an equality group called last night refuting the Christian group that they know called us earlier..

I've listened to Martha Coakley, Scott brown, Pat Boone, Curt Shilling, President Obama among others and this has been going on for weeks.

Last night we had a group from Colorado call us 4 times in a row asking for each registered voter in the household.

Wow, I cannot remember such craziness in a long time from Beantown politics....so how is the weather in MASS for the BIG ELECTION? Will it be sunny or stormy??

Amen......caller ID on my computer and TV screens is a blessing......Tuesday night can't come soon enough.

even my 5 year old says another call for the elections I have definately gotten more calls for this special election than I have for any other election. I love the personalized calls from both sides.

It's supposed to just be flurries where I am tomorrow. Hopefully "some" people will stay home because of the snow and "other" people will still hit the polls.

Luckily, we haven't gotten all the calls (just a couple regular ones and one from Obama) but I am SO sick of the ads on tv! Last night one whole commercial break was nothing but ads, and they were the nasty negative ones too. I don't mind commercials if they talk about where they stand on issues, but as for those nasty ones, I sure won't miss them!

Well at least being in CA, I don't have to worry about being subjected to those annoying tv political ads :headache: all day and all night....just the phone calls. :headache:

Just so you know, the last time I started a thread about a former President calling me about an election my thread was deleted and I got a reprimand - no politics on the Dis and all that..:rolleyes1

We've been getting tons of calls too, but none today. Very strange. Our phone is working though since we have received other calls.

Are others still getting called today?

I can not wait for the TV ads to be over. They are worse than the phone calls. 3 attacks ads followed by opponents ad. Every commercial break.

Oh my....:guilty:

But my thread is about being called in CA for a MA election. WHY am I being called, as I did USED to live in the great state of MASS confusion....but that was 2 years ago. AND these calls are coming in very early like this a.m. due to the 3 hour time difference. GET TO THE POLLS ON TUESDAY...........whatttttttttttttt!!!!

Annoying to say the least. :headache:

So, JESW, this thread is not about any particular individual running for any particular office.

You could even genericize the issue: Doesn't it suck that not-for-profits are exempt from No Call Lists?

I spent last night picking up the phone and hanging it back up immediately (because I didn't even want them leaving messages on my answering machine, because it would then beep at me until I went downstairs to delete the message they left).

My phone has rung more in the last week than it did all last year!

Doesn't matter to me - watching the noon news Friday, I discovered my City Hall was open until 5 PM for absentee voting. I've voted already, just in case the weather turns against us ;)

Still calling - four today already. Question about the attack ads, though - aren't they all one-sided, from one party/candidate, with the other candidate merely on defense, providing accurate information relating to the one side's somewhat distorted information?

I believe that would be an accurate assessment of the ads I've seen.

.....Tuesday night can't come soon enough.

I second that! - We've had calls from both candidates, independant groups, celebrities, and even the children of a candidate.

The first time, I actually thought it was nice - personal touch and all that. But 6 times a day is way too much!! The only Wednesday I think I've ever looked forward to more involved a Disney trip.

Sorry it's following you across the country, OP. (It's also been sleeting here all day, so I hope that hasn't followed you too!)

I thought political threads were not allowed? :confused3

I think it would only be political if people were discussing the - uh, event the calls are attempting to influence. As it is, it's just a vent about commercials-by-phone, and the fact it's kind of funny because the OP can't even use the information by virture of where she lives.

It's ok to talk about the excess calls you are recieving from both sides.
It would NOT be ok to say something about one candidate over the other etc.
OMG I can't believe I got a call from Pat Boone!! Who the heck would even think about using him

Pat Boone??? Guess I must have been on-line and missed that one :rotfl2::rotfl2:
