Mass murder in Canada - Saskatchewan

:confused3 I guess you'd call them Native American/Indian Reservations?
Maybe you can clarify. My sense is that the Provincial and Federal Government in Canada provide a lot of support and services to First Nation Reserves than in the U.S. where they pretty much are on their own financially. One of my cousins is an RN and used to hire on with the Government for two weeks every summer to work in the First Nation Health Clinics.

:rolleyes1I suppose we could discuss it, but what does any of that have to do with this topic? The fact that this tragedy unfolded on a Reserve is purely incidental.

Well, from what I am reading this Reserve has a history of violence and extra Government investment to try and stop it. In the U.S. tribes are pretty much financial independent.

There's very few details released by Law Enforcement yet but I'd bet a lot that the entire spree started as a domestic incident. Since there are two perpetrators though, I highly doubt the catalyst was a mental-health crisis. We had a horrific incident here in Calgary 9 years ago where 5 university students were stabbed to death at a house party by a perp in the throes of schizophrenic psychosis, but that's a little harder to believe when there are two individuals involved.
The Calgary incident was awful.
Surprised that he managed to kill so many at one party.

First Nation healthcare is federal.
It’s a very convoluted and sad background.

Yes lots of nurses fly into remote reserves to provide care at nursing stations. They are federal employees.

As for surnames many have names adopted generations ago from Indigenous agents. Sadly the same way former American slaves had surnames of old owners.

Yes, and flashing back to that, when I first heard this news my mind immediately scrambled to how it would be possible for so many people to be overpowered. It became clearer when the details of two perps and multiple locations and sets of unsuspecting victims, were released. Such a sad, sad thing; random violence is still (blessedly) uncommon enough here that it leaves us all in shock and disbelief.

This is a really good point. I hope no one comes along to give 15 links or third hand anecdotes as to why you are wrong. This is not the thread for it.
