I READ THAT THEY HAD CHURCH SERVICE AT THE POLYNESIAN, BUT STARTING AUG 11TH THEY WILL NO LONGER HAVE SERVICES. THEY DID SAY WHETHER IT WAS AUG 11 OF 2003 OR 2002.

MY DAUGHTER IS MAKING HER CONFIRMATION NEXT YEAR, AND IS REQUIRE TO GO TO MASS EVER SAT. OR SUNDAY UNTIL THEN. WE WILL BE AT THE DISNEY RESORT FOR TWO WEEKENDS. MY CHURCH SAID IF YOU TRAVEL YOU MUST STILL GO TO CHURCH WHERE EVER YOU ARE AND HAVE THE PRIEST SIGN THE BULLINTIN.
IF ANYONE KNOWS IF DISNEY STILL HAS MASS PLEASE LET ME KNOW

THANK YOU
DIANE

It was stopped last year because the church that supplied the staff could no longer send someone over to the Polynesian.

Well, even if they still had mass there it would be a problem, because they didn't hand out a bulletin...

The closest Catholic church is Mary Queen of the Universe, it is gorgeous.

I AM NOT RENTING A CAR, DO YOU KNOW IF THE MEARS BUS GOES THERE OR ANY OTHER FORM OF TRANSPORTATION?

THANK YOU
DIANE

I think Mears runs a shuttle from the Contemporary to the Shrine. I believe the cost is $10 pp roundtrip. I'd call Mears to confirm and find out timing. (407) 423-5566

Mears no longer offers this service. You'd have to take a cab...plan on $20-25 each way not including tip.

Thanks for the correction ducklite. I actually was looking at Mears site to find more info, and I couldn't find any info on the shuttle. Anyway, they do offer a towncar service to/from any WDW resort. They charge $16 - 21 (depending on resort) + gratuity each way. Here is the link to the rate page. http://www.mearstransportation.com/tariff/2003/towncar2003.htm
The rates to/from the Shrine are located near the bottom of the page under MISCELLANEOUS. The number to reserve this is also at the bottom of the page. Or, you can take a cab, that will probably cost about the same price though.

You may also want to think about renting a car onsite for a 24 hour period. It may cost about the same or less as a taxi, and you could make a trip offsite for groceries or cheaper eats.

I think it will be wonderful if your daughter goes to the Shrine. Very fitting that she must fulfill her Mass obligation no matter where she is and the Shrine was built for and is devoted to the tourists who come to Orlando! It is not a parish -- it exists solely to serve the visitors. I think when she explains why she is having the bulletin signed (not sure if they have an actual bulletin but they do have all sorts of literature), the priest will be delighted. Father Harte is the founder of the Shrine and I think he will really enjoy doing the signing if he's available when you attend.
